    Absolutely agree with all the points mentioned... Living in Kenya can be quiet expensive, a cup of Coffee lets say cappuccino is the same price as here in a metropolitan city in Europe. So if you intend to live a European lifestyle and regularly visit middle-class or high-end restaurants, cafes, shops you would easily go broke. I would recommend going to such places on the weekends only as a treat and save money during the week making food and coffee etc by yourself. Also if you find a nice Uber or Taxi driver who offers a fair price stick to them also for familiarity and safety reasons, they would become your "family" and even help you when in need/emergencies.. Have a Kenyan friend help buy things on your behalf in the touristic areas/shops, they are likely to negotiate up to 70% off the price for you

      Great tips! For myself, these coffees and meals have definitely always been a treat, no sense to throw your money on such daily. I noticed quite quickly that on my street I started making friends to say hi to (guy who brings gas etc) but never managed to have a good regular Bolt person yet! And yes, Toi market for example is a no-go without a local friend 😂

      @Benheps Год назад +1

      @@ainoluo .. Absolutely, you need a local friend, they'll be your angel and guide. I have to remember each time when i visit home with my European partner, sometimes we pretend we don't know each other.. So that we are charged a normal price.

    very good tips

  • @edwinaameso4435
    @edwinaameso4435 Год назад +1

    Good take. Kindly, do share the idea of responsibilities back home in a european context that may differ from the african context you were in and what that entails. I think this will shape an understanding of the dual responsibilities that those from the north come with and what that means.

    • @ainoluo
      @ainoluo  Год назад

      Something I have seen people experience: renovating parents’ / childhood home, home/car/student loans, property maintenance costs, ageing parents and the responsibilities of being present for caretaking or participating in the healthcare costs, property or inheritance tax… Anything really that comes with living a life somewhere. The main challenge is that if you cannot keep the same income level you had in this country, the sums rise to a level that is impossible to keep up with.

    Very informative. I have trouble with overspending. Thanks for the advice

    • @ainoluo
      @ainoluo  Год назад +1

      Overspending is a common trap to fall into, be it lifestyle creep when you suddenly earn a little more and start spending more, when you were used to a certain lifestyle and wanna keep it even if you no longer afford it, think you can afford something when you are actually spending every extra penny and not building anything, or wanna level up and overspend on courses and tools or on certain aesthetics that are marketed to us.. ugh, try hold onto your hard earned money! 😅
