I-ve been through about 2 months of nightmare trying to figure out how to solve my No signal problem ( Install various versions of drivers, reinstall windows, almost changing my source box) But then i found your video and youre my saviour ... God bless you man.
Friend if you there please tell me what you did from video exactly i have same problem with some games playing few minutes then on TV i got message no signal??
Sir, I wish I'd seen that you had more than one video covering the x51 when I was looking through RUclips on guides for it earlier. I saw the one for troubleshooting that you uploaded last year. Still, I'm glad I at least found this one when I did, because I just spent my whole evening dealing with the exact issue you covered here. No spills or anything drastic, but we did handle the GPU and the adapter card more than necessary when I went in there to install a new hard drive, so either something was left dirty or we didn't reassemble it quite right. Once I gave up on the idea that it was a driver issue and went back in to take a look at it, my GPU's been humming along just fine since. Having this to reference to make sure I was putting everything back correctly was a life-saver. Thank you.
thank you for this!!! i managed to fix mine just cleaning the graphics card. i didn't spill anything on mine, there was just a lot of corrosion because of the climate i live in.
@@TimsComputerRepair their a great little machine i got given one for free becouse it had trouble with one of the ram sticks but that has since been fixed after a bios reset and faulty stick removel and bios reset again
I have the same computer and when I turned it on at first, it worked fine for a few days until one day my mouse and everything else froze and so I had to turn it off. I then tried turning it on again, my customization lights on the side and the alien head turned on and I heard it starting up until the sound got quieter and quieter and then there was no sound, no display, and just had the lights on. I went to turn it off again but this time I had to hold down the power button for like 10 or 15 seconds because it wouldn’t shut down normally. So every couple of days I would test it and it wouldn’t work. Until one day I turned it on and my customization lights didn’t turn on. All there was, was the white power button. Then a few days later I went to turn it on again and I thought it was going to explode. The sound just kept getting louder and louder and I turned it off as fast As I could. Afterwards, I unplugged it, forgot about it for a month and yesterday I plugged it back in and it worked perfectly. I played on it for a few hours, turned off the computer, and unplugged it. This morning I plugged it back in and once again it isn’t working and is having the same issues in the beginning. Customization lights come on, I hear a noise but then it gets quieter and then there is no display. Sorry if this is long, but I really need help with it. Thanks!
I so owe you a beer. I think the machine I received for repair was in the same dorm room as the computer you just repaired. Must have been a Pepsi vs Coke war ;-) Keep Broadcasting!!
Good job Tim. You got to love customers who don't tell you the truth of what happened to there computer, it just makes your job harder. Also what a crap design by Dell, its to cramped with no air flow and that power brink is something else. I bet she paid a fair bit from Dell for that computer and graphics card. You can build a better computer than that for less.
+Britec09 I totally agree. She got lucky as that could have been disastrous for that computer. I am not impressed one bit with this design from Dell. Thanks for watching.
Hey! I really liked how you managed to deal with the problem. I'm trying to solve mine but my graphics card looks good. I think the issue might be on the APCB board you are talking about. It looks a little bit scratched but I don't know if cleaning it would do the job.
I had this exact problem with the exact card. Dell gave no support, and I fried the card twice before discovering it was a PSU issue. The X51 was a horrible release. Still trying to get it back up and running for a backup PC.
Hey Tim I'm having problems with my alienware x51 r2 it starts up but it beeps constantly and won't show up on my monitor. it has been working beforehand, but it was freezing whenever I tried to download something. do you have any suggestions?
That could be a number of different issues. Head on over to the forums posted below and we can help you better over there. www.briteccomputers.co.uk/forum/
Hey Tim, great video. I'm years into this computer and know it still has some life. I know there's no liquid damage, but I'm dealing with a full black screen. I can boot up,hear one beep, but then the screen goes to sleep. I use an HDMI plug instead of the vga, could that make a difference? I was just trying to get it to sleep mode but I'm unable to because of the reboot black screen. Thanks in advance for your reply.
That could be a number of different things Suraj. I think it would be best if you post your issue over at the forums below. We will be glad to assist you over there. www.briteccomputers.co.uk/forum/index.php
thank u for this video. i'm having trouble now with this computer, i no longer using it for how many years, and 3days ago i tried to run the computer it works well then today i woke up with a loud beeping noise, idk what's happening. hope u help me sir tim. crying for help 😭😭😭
You should have opened up the GPU and cleaned out the dust from the metal fins, which get clogged with dust for this blower type graphics card then reapply thermal paste. It would dramatically decrease the GPU temps even under full load.
Those are surface mounted components molded on with solder. Solder is a type of metal and when solidified is very strong. It would take something much more abrasive than a toothbrush to knock off a soldered component. Been cleaning electronics this way for years and never had a factory soldered component break off. Thanks for watching.
Only Dell could turn one of there Optiplex SSF cases into a joke of a gaming case and then put a GTX750 ti in there, i dread to think how hot it gets inside that case. Any way good video Tim and well Diagnosed . Be intresting to see how long the power brick lasts, with that monster GPU drawing on it. Keep up the good work Tim
+Migsy Cee I never thought of that but you are right. A spin off of the Optiplex form factor. Seriously I could not touch the metal on the back of the card under load because it e=was so hot. Also I would bet that if the brick ever needed replacing it would cost as much as the computer is worth. Thanks for watching.
My computer Alienware X51 has Blue Screen Troubleshoot problem, I called dell and asked them to fix the problem because I bought the computer a month ago but the wanted me to get warranty so I did and as results they solve nothing. As now I'm still having problems with my computer, this Blue Screen comes randomly and I don't know what to do. I updated the drivers, I send it to dells shop (they only changed windows) and lastly I reinstalled windows 10. But the issue still appears. Any ideas of what the problem could be?

Hiya, I have a question! I am 17, dont really have much money for a full on gaming pc top of the line, so I got the same as this person did. I found mine on ebay for around $400, it was working perfectly at first, then it started losing signal out of nowhere.. I wasnt running anything heavy at the time, youtube at most.. I had to restart the pc but had to unplug and plug back in the hdmi for the monitor.. Any idea what could be up? It really makes me depressed knowing that I spent $400 and cant run anything above youtube
Sounds like you have a bad video card however you would need a repair technician to confirm. Did the ebay seller offer any kind of warranty or return policy? You could reach out to the seller and explain your situation
TimsComputerRepair Unfortunately no, they didn't. He was very nice about the sale, free shipping and all but he made it clear that sales were final. As for a warranty I will ask him about it.
had issue where games crashed randomly and thought it was driver issue. I cleaned the gpu board pretty good with qtips and alcohol and now it works perfect! guess stuff can get on the thing pretty easy somehow haha
Interesting. Dell sold her a new graphics card claiming it's the same but it really isn't. the Gtx 670 that was in the computer is about twice as fast then the newer budget 750ti they sold her. Huge thermal and power draw difference too with Gtx 670 has 170w TDP while the 750ti is 60w.
my friends x51 r3 alienware dont wanna boot up. i tried the power drain where i unplug the power supply then pushed the button for 15 sec, then i tried to turn it on again and it worked, problem is while i was trying to reformat the pc, it freezes then shutsdown. need help
That design is terrible, did you see the fans even? id think something with better static pressure would be better for that case. Surprised you didnt replace the screws lol How hot did the power brick get?

This PC cost a lot, but had the same display issues. Dell service was the worst, Extremely frustrating but seems it was a common problem.
Indeed. Thanks for commenting.
Are you ever worried about breaking something off with your method of cleaning the video card?
