- I take out this Tuxedo black 454 big block 1973 Chevy Corvette Stingray with my buddy Brent of FAST440 in Forney, Texas. I can't help but love the lines of the classic C3 Corvette Stingray. '73 would be the last year of chrome bumpers on a Corvette and the 1st year of the urethane front bumper on the C3. Enjoy the 4K Ultra HD Sony ready video of America's Sports Car, brought to you by Samspace81, your RUclips channel for classic cars, muscle cars, collector automobiles, etc. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Special thanks to Brent at FAST440.COM / 972-203-0767

After sitting in one of these This feels like a trip down memory lane
Love that thank you
Last of the classic Cor vets for a while, What a wonderful sight when you open the hood and all you see is Chrome valve cover.
That screams big block very loud, What a beautiful black C 3 Corvette1😍😍😍
Thanks Terry for watching
@@samspace81 Thanks for sharing
My pleasure
Beautiful Corvette, thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much! Enjoy the channel.
A lot of people say red is the color for a C3, but I've always been partial to this black. Shes a heartbreaker.
I want a super dark blue like DARK DARK BLUE very dark so it looks like black but it's blue in the day time
I also LOVE the dark blue... that recalls the original Mako Shark Show Car...
My 77 was a cobalt blue and now I have a 76 red. I thought the blue was more gorgeous expensive paint job but older admirers like the Red alot
I agree that C3 looks best in black. But this 73 was repainted. Black was not a factory color in 1973. Still, it looks better in black.
Yeah love the Black and there was a rumor that some dealer ordered 40 and painted them Black or had them delivered in black. Don't know if thats true or not but there were Corvettes painted in special even at the factory, the trim tag would show SPEC for a special paint color. Some were even delivered in primer for dealer to paint and those tags said PRIME. Saw a 75 convertible like this at Bloomington in all original primer, the only thing painted on the car were the bumpers as they were painted by the vendor or at a separate location and they came in painted silver.
3:04 What kind of antiques shop casually has a MiG-17 parked outside?
Alex K an awesome one, lol
a Texas one
Cool ones haha it's been there for years
Brings back memories.
I had a 72 454 coupe back in the day.
Whoever painted your car made it look real and nice cant imagine the hours involved is it an old refinish was it back in the day of base coat lacquer and clear that was out 30 years ago
I could see that
Beautiful car, great combination of engine color and everything ! I am proud of my 71 same car convertible in orange!
The '73 stingray is my most favorite.
Nice, last chrome bumpers! Thanks for checking it out Jonathan and following Samspace81
Mine too.... but I might be a little biased cause that’s what mine is
I like the 63
Bit i appreciate this 1 too
@@jgrilla6084 split rear window meh don’t know how I feel about
Looks great and sounds tough. Makes me miss my 1973 c3. Fully restored motor, transmission and body off restoration hunter green paint with saddle tan interior cost me $14,000 in 1997. Wish I could add a picture in comments. Gave it away for $8500 in 2004 to pay for honeymoon. Black is my favorite also which is the color of my latest restoration of my 1979 c3 with 454 swap project I am in the middle of now. I plan to put a 1973 front nose clip on to remind me of my old 1973 long gone many years ago.
Thanks DJ would love to see it
Hi, hopefully you can answer this for me. I just purchased a 1973 Ls4 454 powered vette. All original numbers matching etc.
My question is at what rpm should she be at idle?? Mine seems to stay at around 1500 rpm.
Any help would be deeply appreciated
Sounds great you can’t be classics. Thumbs up.
Thanks very much
The C3 looks so much better than the C8
Agree, timeless design. Thanks so much for watching Samspace81, your classic car vlogger.
Nice C3... Have the same one but the 1980 model with a 1972 modified 454 bigblock and a 6 speed manual gear box.
Do you have videos
So it's NOT the same😂
How come the tach don't work? Nice sound though
Bad cable probably
Gotta love it, I'm building one rn, engine was blown and not original, not much on the car was, so when opportunity presented itself and a cheap marine 502 showed up, I got it. The dilemma now is that I got a hilborn style aluminum good scoop, aluminum high rise, high comp, high flow heads, a roller cam, roller rockers, headers, and a giant bill. Spent more on the engine than the car, but anyway, I'm not sure what to do about my bumper and headlight situation. I've got the flip out headlights removed from the front, which is itself removed from the car, and I want to keep them out for airflow and cooling purposes. As far as the bumper is concerned, I'm not so sure about the longer soft bumper with the hood scoop, i haven't put it together yet because I need to do some repair work on the front clip, but I have the idea in my head that it's gonna look a little goofy, where as the shorter snout won't. Yours is beautiful though, even if that wafer air filter negates the effects on the high rise can and higher cfm carburetor a bit, it at least saves you the indecision in the long run.
Appreciate you watching and sharing this
Me and my dad might get a 76 C3 and it is black with t tops we will have to restore it but my dad is going to rebuild the 454 engine for it if we get it
Good stuff Logan, keep us posted.
Real beauty and great sound!! but get that tach working!!😁
Deal!
AWESOME!!! i like this car, cool car sound and engine
badass Vette right?! Thanks for checking it out Classic Gamer
My black 73 has flared fenders. 1969 L46 that's built to Lt1 power. With tremec 5 spd.
Awesome. Love the Tremec 5 and 6 speed
Purrs like a panther 😍
You've got good taste in cars
@@samspace81 thank you 😊
that is my dream car!
Gorgeous
Appreciate you 💯
piękny, i ten dźwięk pozdrawiam :)
I just came!
I'm happy
Iv'e got a 1982 C3. took the 350 out and replacing it with a 454 i took from a 1976 225 Electra. got my BBC In the machine shop being rebuilt and bored over 3 points. going twin turbos with Edelbrock race cam kit and overhead. also doing rear end, transmission, and front and rear suspension. good thing i know ppl or this whole project would cost me a fortune. i just wanna see the dyno test in range of 800 plus hp. i only have a budge of 12 grand so i'm praying i can make it happen with that.
454? Not from a buick.
@@aaronrainey788:sorry, it's a 455 from a 1976 225 Electra
Thanks
Dream car
For sure a dream
I forgot that the big block engine was even available in '73... my '73 had the 250 hp 350 small block. But the 454 only had 25 more hp, at 275hp, but much more torque.
There were 30,464 Corvettes produced in 1973... 4,412 were 454 option. It was also the First year of the "Z07" option the "Off Road Suspension" (track pak) on 45 Corvettes... but only available on the 350 Engines.
Somewhat surprised this car does not have the chrome Side-Pipes... a Very Popular option, especially on the big engine...
But Yes, the Tuxedo Black is a Gorgeous color on these wonderful cars..! I also like the dark blue, similar to the original "Mako Shark" show cars...
Good stuff thanks Floyd
I am just recently the owner of a 73 LS4, been chasing one for years...one that I could afford and do right by. It has the side pipes, and now that I have them...I would never be without them. Something about just pulling up to a light, alongside various "weedeater" cars....and not having to say anything other that let her idle........
Love it
Never heard that Z07 was only available on small block, L82 I'm assuming since Z07 included M21 and no close ratio transmission was ever available with the base engine. So you have proof of the L82 only requirement? The only restriction I ever saw was air conditioning not available and maybe no power steering either.
Is that a mig 15 on the road side in US ?? Beautiful big block C3 by the way😊
Nice
Thanks
A beautiful car, but I can't shake the fact that the owner sounds like the accountant from GhostBusters...
Vincent Gatti owner seems like a jackass
OK 😆 thanks 4 watching
Mean machine!
Thanks Keith, looks like you are a Vette man!
time to get those exhaust leaks fixed
Aww man they plaque Vettes
@3:14 I love how the mechial tach doesn't work... probably snapped off like they do. My 1973 what far my options than this works perfectly as does the center clock. Cheers
I feel my jeans are starting to get a little tighter😂
Eat less 😆🤣
@@samspace81 good one👍 but it's not my waistline😂
😆 much love I appreciate you
Need to fix that tachometer otherwise beautiful Vette...My favorite body style.
It's always something 👍
The mighty 454 wasn't quite so mighty by 73 at 275 HP. But still a capable beast.
Still good enough for mid 14 second 1/4 mile times and top speed over 140 mph and the Trans Am about the only thing new in 73 that could run with it. That and the L82 Corvette. 😀
❤
👍 ❤️
any guy would trade in a heartbeat, lol
Truth, great old Vette
We can still tell the plate chief
👀
This would be a win if it was a manual.
thanks for checking it out
is that rail thing on the back for your sandwiches ime confused lol the only thing ime mad about is that it does not come with the free woman option or is that monthly installments lol
I've never seen a suitcase on one either! lol Thanks Shaun for watching Samspace81
How is the 454 causing rde ability
Great. They overheat if cooling system not in check
she's beautiful looks like she would break a man's heart damm.
Great Vette 👍
😍
Memorable Vette
What actually does a big block mean???
My understanding is that it doesn't relate to engine capacity.
I think these Corvette are the best looking car even in 2020.
Big blocks are physically much bigger than smallblocks. Chevrolet thing
@@samspace81 thanks
So it's only used on Chevies.
@@Steven_Rowe Nah Hemis have their own big blocks too.
@@Steven_Rowe ford as well
The new corvettes are absolutely disgusting and hideous an abomination
When you cranked up your corvette, did you hold the brake and clutch or just the brake???
If he didnt hold the clutch, A. The car wouldnt start, or B. He wouldve drove thru a wall.
Yes the clutch safety switch, some guys disable this thing but a dangerous idea.
1973 was the last year of good looking C3 Vettes IMHO, for the 74 model they added that ugly separated taillight panel and made the front look odd by removing a section of the grille. I don't think they started looking good again until the C5 came out , and the C6 was , er, meh
Yup. give me front & rear chrome :)
Nice car, so what is the origin of Sams Space 81? is that the year you graduated high school or the address of your bussiness there or something?
Samspace81 is my name and the year I was born. I started this RUclips channel with no idea it was going to grown into what it is. I use to film classic cars soley for Ebay advertisements many years ago. The name is all over google and it stuck so I went with it as my business name.
I love this channel i post every one to my Facebook, i lived in Midland tx half my life i miss the wide open roads there,i have a lot of friends in the Dallas area i have a cousin in Flower Mound ill have to visit you guys if i get out that way love the interesting cars you have and the way you drive them out on the road is really a great idea cause you can feel as if you are riding along in cars most of us only dream of owning , 81 is the year i graduated from High School lol keep up the good work.
Japanese rice wagons will never reach the badass level of american classics. I own a classic Cadillac myself, its big and beautiful.
You sound insecure brah
True 👍
Who's here after the dad's gift video?
What'd I miss? Thanks for watching Samspace81 too by the way

RPM tach don't work?
Oh no
@@samspace81 mine didn't either when I went to electronic ignition. Stole a tachometer from a '75. Works great and is a perfect fit physically.

Sweeeeeet! Can his fix the the tach?
Yes, easy fix. It has an MSD ignition box, believe it needs an adapter. Thanks for checking it out!
+samspace81 Thanks Sam
Paint the wheels the correct color of argent silver. Black looks bad.
Agreed!
WITH ALL 140 HORSES, LOL
pff whatever dude
I believe it's 275.
Lol, with a name like therealist and you make a.dumb comment like this, oh man.. 🤣
I thought porn was not allowed on RUclips!
I'm a car porn producer. Thanks for watching Samspace81
Chevy never made a black C3. Bloody shame. Badass color and a 454 to boot. But automatic? Pff.
The heck they didn't. Ever hear of tuxedo black? 69s certainly came in black. Appreciate you watching 🇺🇸
@@samspace81 Everybody loves red, but black kills it for a '69. Good to know it was a factory color option. Thanks!
i like corette but all i can pppay is $100.00 monthy
Bummer .. Its an auto...
i got the exact same car and colour and its a manual! ;)

Thanks for watching

Appreciate you watching & greetings from Wolfe City, Texas
Too bad 275 horse 🐴 slow .
Easy fix. Just throw on a set of heads and maybe swap out the cam.
Go back to need for speed. This wasn't s weak car when it was stock, someone who thinks it is and treats it as such would be in trouble very fast. Look up torque, and then look up net vs gross ratings and find out where the ls4 454 sat. Of course this is clearly not a ls4 anymore, it's pretty obvious that it's not a stock engine to anyone who looks at engines every now and then, ones covered in cheap plastic boxes excluded.
My 69 c3 bb was dynoed at 510torque ... Took it to a shop and the are now installing a roller H cam, headers, msd and doomed pistons. Waiting to see the new numbers..
275 horse slow says Eddie who has never driven one lol.
Still cool
2:20 what an ugly grill
It's not a grill.
What a bore let’s run the gears. A snooze review
I run through the gears in all kinds of stuff, look around. This wasn't boring either. Do a better video for all of us so I can comment on it LOL - SAM
