So glad to have found this movie again. Saw it years ago and wanted to see it again but forgot the title, remembered only that a foreigner goes to England, attends a comic piano recital with friend but doesn't understand why the audience finds it amusing, then at the end of the movie he sees the performance again and laughs spontaneously with the audience: his sense of humour has become 'englishified'. Not much hope of finding the movie based on that but here it is... hurrah!
Thanks so much for sharing this treasure with us.As a French and a huge admirer of Laurence Olivier I did really enjoy this moment especially having the possibility to understand every subtle details of the dialogs...with the irresistible Russian accent of Laurence Olivier !!!! Great movie, great moment :) THANKS AGAIN !!!!!!!
What a wonderful and rare treat to find and see this film. I was searching for early appearances of Margaret Rutherford and found this gem! Thank-you so much for putting it on here!
A good propaganda film of the war era. Excellent cast and decent production. It is really as much about the notion of "British" character as it is pro-Russia. An important underlying idea is the sense of isolation in the early part of the war, even though many countries allied themselves with the Brits. I wonder how effective this film was as entertainment propaganda? It certainly has a very worthwhile and positive message. Thanks for posting this!
what a great movie specially Laurence Olivier even though he was not acting as a "gentleman" towards Anne. the ending is quite disappointing. I was expecting romantic and happy ending. Adore his accent . RIP Olivier
Thank you for this classic- a propaganda film but very good ! Where can I find a torrent or rapidshare link for this film.? I had it at one time, but lost it in a drive crash.
