Thanks for the upload. Read it in Greek when I was around 11,when I was still living in Athens.Has stayed with me ever since. It moved me then and it moves me,now!...40 years later in Western Australia
No greater face or voice in American film than Henry Stephenson. For those without fathers, this man filled the void of the feeling of emptiness. All the best to his offspring, now and forever.
Thank you for sharing a true and infamous treasure! A CLASSIC if there ever was one! In highest support of truth, morals, dignity, ethics, and a laundry list of others! APOGEE of movies, and still around!
Very good script , very good interpretation , directed by John Cromwell and appropriated music by (talented ) Max Steiner . .very good movie .I see manifestation of Christ 's love (great Lord ) in this story by the main character , ''little Lord... ''and his mother ,in gentleness,.wisdom ...
The saying goes never judge a book by it's cover.I have never liked to see this film simply because I did not like the idea of watching some little rich kid who sounded snobby as to me that was irritating. Now I have watched it I realise what I have missed out on. Such a good story and for me what makes it is the fact that it is an old black and white film and these old films are "the best". Simpler times when courtesy and manners were common place. British films are to me are amongst the best in the World.
I noticed how there were alot of cops with Irish accents in old 1930s films, no doubt from the high volume of Irish immigrants (along with many Italian, Greek, and Polish immigrants) in the early 1900s coming to America, particularly New York. Another film showing Irish immigrants coming to New York was "Little Nellie Kelly" in 1940 with Judy Garland and George Murphy
Good ol Mickey Rooney, coming to the aid of Faulteroy (Freddy Bartholomew) when the bullies harassed him. Rooney and Faulteroy teaming together bears some resemblance to Rooney and Ronald Sinclair's teaming in "Thoroughbreds don't cry", except that Rooney himself was the bully, in the first part of that film anyway before they started to become friends.
I absolutely adore this movie! I wish they had stories like this still. Its wonderful. Thank you!
Thanks for the upload.
