  • Ryan uses some sort of fire extinguisher to produce exhaust so that she can get to the Chinese Space Station. Gee, wonder where did we see that before?
    Yes, it's a bit like a realistic version of Wall-E I guess. So, as usual, please comment, rate and subscribe and hope you enjoyed the video.

It wasn’t until the scene where the Iss was destroyed that director Alfonso Cuaron (pardon my spelling) realized he wasn’t going to get a better soundtrack. And guess what. According to the film's science adviser Kevin Grazier and NASA engineer Robert Frost, however, the pair are still decelerating with Stone's leg caught in the parachute cords from the Soyuz. The cords stretch as they absorb her kinetic energy. Kowalski thinks that the cords are not strong enough to absorb his kinetic energy as well as hers, and that he must release the tether to give Stone a chance of stopping before the cords fail and doom both of them.... but we aren't convinced of it.

    Um--okay.......as much as I LUV geeking out over science fiction movies, she--uh--she has no air supply in the vacuum.......of space. I'm just saying..
    Movies such as this are the reason why soooo many people are science illiterate. They believe stuff like this that they see in the movies over actual scientific fact simply because these scientific stereotypes still permeate the public domain : the one-in-a-billion longshot chance of getting back aboard a space station using nothing but a fire extinguisher to maneuver oneself through the vacuum of space--**where is her air supply**??!!
    One can only stretch the "fiction" part of science fiction but so far..

    This movie is so unrealistic. Hubble, ISS, Russian spy satellites, Chinese space station etc. are all orbiting at different altitudes and on different orbital paths. The space debris are moving so fast that it would be impossible to see them with naked eye. +Ish Scientists proved that this could actually work but you would need more flight control systems because you dont know velocity of the station and yourself but technically the fire extinguisher would do a decent amount of thrust because its just a gas thats released very quickly (newtons 3rd law i think) every action has a reaction

    • @ilipovsky
      @ilipovsky 9 лет назад +1

      +FreakGaming Funny that people can actually even use fire extinguishers without some sort of
      anchoring system and harness and warnings that anybody under 200lb should not
      use them due to the force. I understand Newton's 3rd law quite well. The same applies to the jet pack scenes in this movie. There is no way that they could move around that quickly. Please type in "extravehicular activity" into youtube and watch the real thing. These are jet packs specifically designed for this unlike a fire extinguisher....or are you just trolling?
