Julie thank you for your words of encouragement! I am a prime example ...I am trying to put a halt on my "purchase addiction" I could literally probably fill a small warehouse.... your advice was helpful. It's like I just woke up and was like...OMG what have I done... I am going to do the 3 wreath at a time plan....and just breathe...straighten my crown and put 1 foot in front of the other to get to the other side if this.

Thank you so much for this!!! I really needed to hear it. My biggest problem is spending too much on cheap supplies because of my financial situation. I now have so much "stuff" that is either unusable or I have nothing to go with it. On top of that, I no longer have the confidence that I can make anything that anyone would want.
Thank you again for your advice. God Bless you!!!

I'm in tears of relief. I've been making wreaths, watching tons of tutorials feel that I'm getting better. I'm getting custom orders from people that have heard about me
through word of mouth but I have definitely overspent. Just two days ago went out and spent almost $300 on ribbon when I already have two full drawers of beautiful ribbon. I feel like I thought I should have to have everything just in case and then I find myself still going out and having to buy something else because I haven't prepared quite enough for what I would like I love the idea of making three wreaths at a time and I'm sure I have the supplies to do that but if not I'm absolutely going to apply your recommendations into my future wreath making jobs. I've not started advertising yet I'm a little afraid too if I'm honest. I work a full-time job and like the rest of us have family obligations and at this point I can't afford to only do wreaths although I hope to someday. I completely relate to your starting out at your kitchen table because right now I have a long folding table at the foot of my bed and every day I do my wreaths and then when I'm finished I pick up, vacuum, put the table away and take it back out the following day. It's's not ideal but it's working for now and I believe in myself enough to know that at some point I will be able to maybe have a small studio or something else to work in or maybe a storefront or maybe just a bigger house with an in house work space but for right now this is what I have, it's what I've been given and I'm so grateful the opportunity to have what I do have. Thank you for mentioning that God gives us what we need. I have absolutely everything I need and everything I put into other people, into the world into my self I get back in spades so thank you so much. I know I've been rambling I apologize I'm going to check out your inner circle I watch a bunch of different women and I absolutely love them but you are the first person who I've listened to regarding the business aspect and I am so immensely grateful. Have a blessed day. Peace and love XO

My sisters and I take turns looking after our mother. Now I'm thinking, "What was I thinking"? I have been making wreaths for our church entry doors and fundraisers and I really enjoy it. Now I have decided when I come back home last week of September I have two weeks to make wreaths as gifts, for my friends before I go back to mom's. Hopefully l can use up enough product so I can breathe. Thanks so much. This hit home!

You've reminded us that its ok to go a little slower. We don't have to be a fully stocked business over night.
I like the idea that before worrying about building up an inventory of materials, its ok to just focus in on one idea. But instead of just making ONE item make two or three of the same general style/theme. In the past when I've done it, it helped to keep me on task. Rather than jumping from project to project with tons of random leftovers my projects can gradually develop. Plus when I build on what I've already accomplished it increases my confidence in my ability.
I appreciate your taking the time to make this video. Thank you for sharing your insight and great reminders.

Wow, as of today,God opened up my eyes and let me understand where I went wrong. Then this video just talked to me. You are sent by God!!! Wow and Amen. Cause around more then 2 years ago I fell in love with wreath making. I wanted to make every wreath I would see on video but….. I used my monies to make every wreath I saw then, figured out that I didn’t have everything for not even one wreath. Had to go out what I needed then spent even more. So l got overwhelmed then stopped for awhile. So last night, which is almost the end of April I got my behind up and started again. And especially now that I have 4 orders to fulfill now. Pressing forward. Your video helped me a lot and opened new doors for me. Thank you sooo much for your advice!❤😊

I just came upon your you tube channel ( 4 - 2021 )and I have to say you are absolutely correct. I decided to try making wreaths a couple of months ago - since I've always been a crafty person, and my passion was doing flower arrangements. I was going to try selling them but found it was to expensive for shipping and boxes were a major problem. ( needed to many different sizes) and trying to secure them so they wouldn't be destroyed. I gave up on that idea and switched to wreaths. Things like signs and elephants aren't sold around where I live - so I had to order them on line. I decided to buy a reloadable Visa card to purchase things on line rather then using my bank card. The reloadable one is like the closest thing to cash and the fee is minimal. I buy only what I'm going to need for the next project.. I bought one working wreath form and the elephant head and legs (love real elephants so much) and of course, mesh and 2 different ribbons. The elephant wreath came out absolutely adorable! It inspired me to do another one which was the bee wreath. I bought the supplies for that by loading the card again and then made that one. (adorable) So I'm building up an inventory little by little of wreaths. I've made 5 so far and I'm not creating debt. I'll eventually put them on Etsy once I figure out how lol! But your advice is spot on. Don't get into debt and buy only what you plan to make. I do have ribbon and mesh left over to make smaller wreaths, so more profit for me and building an inventory slowly. Good advice from you though and appreciate it!

So So on point. I have accumulated approximately $200 dollars worth of supplies but over 3 yrs. A little bit of this and that at off peak season sales. I refuse to over buy and have only weekend limited time due that I work 2 jobs. So my thing is at this point fun crafting and making a few bucks not deep into this business yet. It has been a great time to study, reviews other peoples ideas, collect magazines, books on this subject and practice practice practice . I'm close to retirement so I may dabble in this business then.

Sounds great! I can relate to not having a lot.of time! Even when working your handmade business full.time it's alot. But something you said in your post made me stop to comment. You cant dabble in a business. You can dabble in a hobby but a business needs dedication and commitment to start and grow. You definitely can do it. We all have what it takes with grit and direction. But when you start, commit to the decision.

Oh how I wish I had heard this 3 months ago before I built up an inventory. I thought if I bought by the case, I would get the discount price. I also bought wreath bases when they were available and now it's hard to find them. So in one way i'm glad I did and what your saying also makes sense too. I have enough for at least 150 to 200 different wreaths. I will stop buying and get to work on making with what I have now. I thought in order to start selling on Etsy that you needed at least 50 items before you can start selling. I must have not heard correctly I guess. Than you for helping us. I eventually want to join your success group. I better get to making and will join before I set up my Etsy shop. Thanks again!

This is good advice. I just started and did what you have said started with 3 wreath ideas. I just wonder where to buy the big spool of solid color ribbon. Any tips?

Awesome information. Also, what is the best way to price your wreaths?

I have totes filled with supplies stored in my brother's shed because I've run out of space in my house. 😟

I just starting tapping into my creativity with craft. I’ve always love decorating my home and that’s how it all started. I try to wait for season clearance to buy and restock for everything. Because this is new to me, I find myself buying supplies making items and giving it my friends and family, of my work. What are your thoughts. Just created a new IG page decorbyurs. I love your ideas very helpful.

My problem is that I embelish my Christmas wreaths with different ornaments. I only do a couple of them at a time but still, it adds up. I think my husband would have a heart attack if I stock up for every season. In your opinion, do bigger wreaths sell faster (bigger than 24 in) than smaller ones (around 20 in)?

Does each ribbon in a wreath bow need to be wired because I found a bunch of non wired from other things last year & think it would look cute mixed in with the bigger wired ribbon?
Also the first videos I saw were all dollar tree so I made 2 dollar tree deco mesh wreaths, they still fray a little (I cut with a soldering iron and used spray glue) could I sell them on Etsy at a discount with this listed in description just to get cost back or would it make people think my others are lower quality?

I had to laugh. You're there telling us to not overbuy, and Michael's kept popping in with ads lol!!
This video is 100 percent me. I want all the things. I have been better with working at it every day but finding the time to create, photo, research, list, and ship (not to mention organize and switch out) is where I struggle. Maybe I need a some sort of instructions. Your craft room video helped me tremendously. I've really tried to niche down to just wreaths and hanging baskets and memorial flowers but it's hard to not see a cute project and not overbuy!
