I had a red 1996 Toyota soft top Celica GT. We drove it to a Snakes and Arrows tour at the Nissan pavilion in MD...As far as we were concerned ...we arrived in the Red Barchetta.
I can't believe it's been eight years since I first found this video. I still watch it fairly often and link it to friends. It really does perfectly capture the mood and spirit of the song and the sci-fi story that inspired it. Thank you, again for this and for helping make so many movies that have inspired my imagination (especially Hook-I love that movie so much).
This has always been one of my all time favorite tunes. In HS, I actually broke down this song and explained its lyrics for an english paper. My teacher was throughly impressed with the fact that I used this song and correctly explained what it was all about. Best part, I got an A on it! Once again, the boys came through and helped me with my GPA!
This is a true treasure for all Rush fans growing up and listening them in the mid 80's. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed watching this, I hope more Rush fans find this video. Thank you for posting.- Paul, Houston, TX
My dad told me about seeing them in concert with a projector showing a comic about the song. I'm 21 we have had a hard bonding but I will be sending him this. Awesome video man. Brings me back to simple and happy time when I was first introduced to this song
....wow. Just....wow.This is my all time favorite Rush tune. It sums up everything I love about the band, and everything I love about sci-fi and cars, too lol. I've wished for YEARS that there was a video for this song, one that really fit the retro future vibe..and then you upload this. This is so...freaking..PERFECT. In so many ways. This must have taken a lot of hard work...so much love went into this. I wish I could have been there to see the events behind its making. THANK YOU!!! SO COOL!
Shared this on Reddit the other day on reddit at /r /rush /comments /17bw2u /my_all_time_favorite_red_barchetta_video_was_made/ in case you were wondering about all the views. Again, this was awesome, thank you for sharing it with us!
So amazing! I’ve been dreaming of this all my life! Can’t believe you pulled it off in the Pole Position era of graphics! I mean it has the look of things when the song came out! Can’t explain exactly, but at long last a missing piece of my life puzzle has been found. Nice work!
I had a computer graphics class in college circa 1991. We used Macs and even using the 3 year newer (which is light-years in computing) machines, making a video like this would have been a lot of work back then. This is impressive, and uber-bonus points for animating one the greatest stories told in a rock song. Thanks for sharing.
Fair question, Woke up in the middle of the night and caught a documentary on Rush (which was great) and was inspired to search RUclips for Rush songs, and here I was. Ha!
Kinda reminds me of the time I used Iron Maiden's 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner' as part of an English report on Samuel Tyler Coleridge as an example of how poetry & classical literature continues to influence and help shape music, literature, art & society.

Terrence Masson Oh, that’s so awesome! it’s just how we imagined digital worlds when the song came out. Gamma World, Battle Zone and Rush made a wonderful childhood. You’ve kinda brought it all together here.
when I was a kid this was the first Rush song that my dad showed me and I've been hooked ever since.

I was just listening to this song and wondered of anyone ever made an animation - and there it is - on RUclips :D
Now that's just bad ass retro AWESOME!!! Rush should use it during their live show!
