I just wanna say, I bought these headphones completely blindsided not knowing what to expect and not even reading reviews. Hi, i have a question: i would buy this headphones for night sleeping..Is this ANC capable of covering and cancel a very loud noise as, for example, an hammer against the wall or a jackhammer??? Thanks in advance for your reply.
I’ve still got the original QC35s from 2016 that are still working well and the battery life has held up wonderfully. Only had to change the earcups once, and while it is beginning to show age, it still sounds great. That being said, my favourite earbuds are still the wired EarPods in terms of comfort and mic quality.
Same here. My ear cups literally just fell apart last week while traveling which sent me on a search for new headphones. I’ve been waiting on some definitive reviews to pick between these, Sony X5, Sonnheiser M4…and even considered some pricey Bathys focals. Battery life is probably the biggest downside of these but the fact that these are the only ones with excellent ANC, sound and fold flat-Ican’t believe how large the other cans are in the travel case… I think I found my winner.
Just bough them, here is my honest review. These are the ONLY headphones I have ever owned that don't give me any top head pain after long term wear (1hr+). They are truly the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn, it's unreal. The audio quality is FANTASTIC. Honestly, these are the headphones to buy. I'm still using my Bose QC 15's from 2009. I replaced the ear cushions, have a zip up head band replacement and bought a separate Bluetooth adaptor that I use with them. They still look and feel brand new. 14 years of use!
I just bought a blue limited edition from someone who’s also had them since the beginning. They also replaced the ear cups and got one of those zip covers for the headband. QC 15’s were a great product in their day and still are. Great headphones for listening to classic rock.

Hope they can release an update to change this because I love using these with my dsesktop and would really like to just turn off ANC altogether

I just got the ultra headphones today and they sound so good they feel like the bass can push these Cans off your head. But soon I see how hard I can push the phone quality test with being on a phone call next to my vacuum cleaner. If it pass that then they are a beast.

@wingriderrr I have the S23 Ultra. The Bose QC Ultras use the Snapdragon Sound which uses a high bitrate lossless codec called AptX. It has better latency and data transfers than LDAC. It's not huge, but it's noticeable.
I've enjoyed his reviews for years. He doesn't do benchmarks or any kind of objective testing. However that doesn't make his review any less informative. He look for the details and ALWAYS conscious of the competition.
"that doesn't make his review any less informative" Is that why he failed to mention that these Bose headphones must be powered? I've been thinking it's almost time to replace my slowly aging Sony XM3 and had been considering the XM5 as the "default" choice. I've never been completely pleased with how the XM3 fit and now that its headband adjustment slider is developing more play and showing its wear and age more, this now feels that I'm about due for a new headset. But now that the QC Ultra is live I may have to give Bose another try. I'm not liking its usage implications regarding the shorter battery life of the QC Ultra however; I've gotten used to how infrequently I recharge the XM3 and the XM5 is supposed to be more of the same. However what drove me to choosing Sony over Bose in the first place was how much better I thought the top Sony NC/BT headphone at the time (XM2) sounded better than the then-contemporary Bose units. And with you now (perhaps) giving the sonic nod to this new Bose unit, I could be convinced that it's now the time to jump ship, although I still kind of want to wait and see what Sony has up its sleeve. The XM5 has been out for a bit now and one might draw the conclusion that a XM6 generation should be out fairly soon.
I just ordered a pair of these ultrase for 269. I think Walmart had a price mistake. I currently have the xm3's too and I'm gonna try these out to compare. I still love my Sony's and I just replaced the ear cups because the old ones got super uncomfortable, it helps a lot but I still want to try these Bose. I'll let you know what I think once they get here.
I have Bose QC35ii and was looking to upgrade and my default choice was going to be the XM5's too. But just a few hours ago, I learnt of this QC Ultra being a thing and now I'm thinking of going with it instead. The biggest downside is that here in the UK, the QC ultra costs £449 which is $545.72. The Sony XM5's cost between £270-300. So as you can see, the QC ultra cost quite a bit more. Which for me is kinda a deal breaker. Can't justify spending nearly 500 pounds on headphones.... but I do really like them, lol. We'll see what happens
I bought a pair yesterday and coming from the Bose 700's the most immediate difference I picked up was that there is no longer a touch panel on the ear cup to swipe forwards, backwards, tap to pause and swipe up and down for volume. Instead, there is a button for pause, next, etc, and a hard to (firstly) find touch slider on the edge of the ear cup for volume. I will get used to it, but I did like the ear cup touch panel of the 700. Also, the Immersive Audio feature, whilst nice, is a bit different to that of Apple's. In Motion mode, there is a slight lag as the direction of audio catches up with your head movements. Otherwise, incredibly good set of headphones and love their ability to seamlessly switch between my iPhone and PC.
@@yelmasry91 I haven't done a full side by side on ANC. My guess is they are similar. But one slight annoyance on the Ultra is that if you have them in Immersive mode, and you then take a call, you can't hear yourself speak. You need to change the mode to Work or some other pre-set so it can pass through your speech. Upgrade if you want the immersive audio - which is very good - and the better packaging. Don't if you're expecting better battery life, or ease of use.
Interesting. I have had the 700s for 4 years and was wondering is an upgrade is needed.. the ear mufs are ruined from sweat and ripped but that would be the case with any headphone after years at the gym. The touch controls being absent in the QC ultra is upsetting. That’s my favorite part
I was able to test some headphones in a shop and the QC Ultra are the best, by far, in terms of ANC. As regards the battery on a plane: if the cable is connected to the headphones, the Bluetooth function is disabled, hence increasing the battery life. Also, nowadays the planes have usually a USB port that can be used to charge the headphones. About the headphone cables: this is obviously for connecting to the airplane screen audio, if I want to connect my headphones to my phone, I can use the Bluetooth connection on a plane as well. If I don't like Bluetooth I can buy an adapter ($1-2 on Aliexpress) to connect the headphones via cable to my phone.
I have the QC35ii headphones, and I really am happy with the sound and noise canceling technology. What I really don’t like is the connectivity issues. Sometimes it takes minutes to get the headphones to pair, sometimes they just don’t pair. This happens with my android and my MacBook occasionally. Sometimes it works fine. Do these new headphones have this kind of issue?
My QC35ii also REALLY struggle with switching between two devices. If I take a call on my phone, end the call, and then fire up a Zoom call on my computer I often have to open the Bose app and manually toggle off my phone. It's annoying to say the least.
@@0dylan To each their own. Majority like the 700s more. The 700s look more premium, expensive, and modern. These just look like the QC35s with a touch of metal (or fake metal).
Im upgrading my existing Bose qc 45 that I’ve got for over 2 years I’m going to upgrade to the Bose Bose QuietComfort Ultra Noise Cancelling Headphones and my old Bose headphones to one of my family members
Sadly, you are correct on the licensing issue. Pretty ridiculous that these new Galaxy phones are powered by high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon chips and they don’t support aptX Adaptive.
I am struggling with Bose qc ultra, wh1000xm5, B&W px7s2e, and Airpodsmax since I am an Apple user. Which is the best regardless of sound quality. I just wanna have a headphone with good ANC and transparency mode.
bose has flat sound , sony has warm bassy type sound and apples are great sounding that atmos in apple music i ok n feels n sounds nice overall for apple devices i like apples airpod max i bought them in 2020 still works great i got mine replaced too cause had some issue with apples service centres are great and boses too as i've heard but sonys i don't like there service centres not helpfull b&w great but i dont own anything from them the airpods cushions are fabricish material feels itchy in begining but can get used to it then it doesnt tear like leather or foam fake leather stuff plus magnets so easy to clean etc i think wait for airpods max 2 maybe it'll come at the end of this year bose seems like cool option but sound and volume control on them i don't know bose always had flatish sound but it does have eq so hope that helps with that , apples awesome sound works great just a bit heavy lets see what aipods max 2 is like
Still using the Bose QC25 that I bought in 2014, although the on/off button is broken and I had to change the pads a couple of times it's still doing the job after using it every day for 10 years... (Not much is left of the feaux-leather on the headband though.)
From some of the reviews I've seen, the Bose QC Ultras don't have a "normal" mode. Meaning both ANC & transparency mode is off. That would definitely impact battery life.
You missed that these Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones must be powered. The 2.5mm / 3.5 mm headphone jack will not transmit audio in to the QC Ultra headphones unless they have USB-C power or are charged. This is a dealbreaker, especially on very long flights or commutes when you may have forgotten to charge the QCU.
On one side, you have a somewhat valid point but on the other side most people travel with at least 1 or 2 battery banks which they can use to power these headphones. Just saying...
I have had the Sonys for a year, and i can say i prefer these over them simply for the bottom that helps control things. I live in New England so hanging l having cold hands and having 90% touch pad controls doesn't work
Funny for me to read this, I've been using my QC 35 ii for 6 years with an average 10hrs per day (probably more) and the metal band finally snapped haha might have to get these new ones sadly
Friend of mine bought Bose Earbuds Ultra Honestly very disappointed With App And connectivity issues They didn’t stay connected with App Random disconnect random Music getting Stoped The case feels flimsy Very Low quality
I bought this last week but I decided to return. The immersive audio for me is not good compare to airpods pro 2 and for me the sound quality is not that good, maybe because I own sennheiser earbuds thats why Im not satisfied with the sound quality of ultra. And also the buttons on this is very annoying when Im playing music with anc I can still hear the clicking sound.
With the premium price, Bose could have done better on the controls functions on the headphone like Sony XM4/XM5 and with the USB-C. I really like the sound quality of the Bose a little better than Sony XM4/XM5. I guess I'll stick with the XM4 for now.
Please also compare to the earbuds. Travellers like me really want to know whether it's worth carrying a bully over ear or if we can just take the earbuds. Flying 10 years ago : All frequent flyers had over ear bose. Then it changed. I have the Sony mk5 earbuds but I would probably compare them to earplugs rather than noise cancelling. But that's just my opinion. Hope you help with that topic too
I use mine almost exclusively at the gym and I've owned everything ... What's never mentioned is the size of the Sony cans they are massive and you will be lucky if they last you a year of gym use (poor build quality) and the same goes for apple ... Now apple is just straight garbage for gym use. They broken on the way home from buying them ... Garbage ... Bose quality they last ... Every pair I've ever owned has lasted and I have never had problems with. I typically replace the earcups and sell them in great working condition to buy the next generation. My 700s lasted the full 4 years and continue to work great to this day. I got my ultras last week and the build quality has only improved. As a gym rat I wouldn't go with Any other pair ... And that's not even getting into customer service of Sony and Apple 👎
All headphones should have easily user-replaceable cushions! Magnetic like AirPods Max would be perfect! I hated replacing the ear pads on my QC every 6-8 months! It should not be this difficult! Also, user-replaceable battery would be ideal! We keep these kinds of headphones for years, and cushions and batteries are the things that take the most wear and tear.
I legit js bought these today and I love them so far, they are great and have everything I could want. The only thing as he said is the fact that the wire jack is so old and nobody even uses those. In addition to that the as he said the pairing with my iPhone is kinda weird. It’s js a lil confusing but besides that it’s great and they still work great so idgaf. These r awesome. If u can get a pair go for it. Acc scratch that these r expensive. I got them for cheaper.
I have read that the latest version of Beats Headphones are Apple Max Headphones lite. Bose QC Ultra does not have the same chip as Apple's headphones, does this make Beats a better value proposition than Bose QC Ultra for less coin?
@@arsenioseslpodcast3143 No need to be shocked, they are not the only pair of headphones I own. People wrongly think that we all own one pair. They are good for what they do.
Good Friday or Amazon prime days. Damn. The new ones went on sale at Walmart for $269 already. Yes. They are sold out. But that is a good hint they may go on sale for Black Friday
Do you think there are any chances of incoming firmware update to make them work with jack cable when turned off? Its weird when normal QC model has got that functionality
My QC25's are still going strong, just need to order some new ear pads for $30 and im set for years to come.. no worries about charging as it holds a battery and space for a spare plus you get the airplane adaptor why wouldn't they include that ???
I want to use with my dac amp dongle and my fiio btr7 but if you have to have them on to use them them i cant see this being possible due to interference. Bose continues to make sure that i keep my money in my pocket .
Unfortunately, i was not able to smoothly move between my macbook air and iphone 15 pro. I was hoping this would be working well as i used to have QC35s that did this well. I find that my Airpods max do this much better as well as spatial audio. Too bad they always seem to be dead.
Bouhht them for $430 ($474 with tax) They sound same studio quality as the older QC45 My honest opinion, if you just want fantastic studio quality stereo sound the older QC45 are a perfect choice. These are gimmicky adding reverb and other gimmicks. Not worth $430 when the original BOSE QC's sound just as perfect and are now on sale for just $199 from Bose
The previous version, the 700, is just better all around. I was quise disappointed by this new "ultra". The functionalities that we had on the last one are missing now. No conversation button and no sliding to change music. The materials seem to be pf lesser quality as well. And it got more expensive
In theory, yes. Bose claims they will fit a wider range of heads better. If you buy them, just make sure you buy them somewhere you can return them without any penalties. I think Bose still allows you to do that.
I'm into audiophile hi-res headphones and $425 is not a lot to pay for a high-end headphone. In fact, if noise-cancelling is not important to you, I recommend the $700 bowers & wilkins PX8 it rivals wired hi-res cans from audeze and focal.
Too much plastic and not enough metal - AU$650 for these Bose here - picked up a pair of Focal Bathys on special (AU$649 instead of AU$1350) for the same price - prefer the Bathys
Wouldn’t it be extremely heavy if you go for all metal construction? For example, both B&O H95 and AirPods Max gets really uncomfortable after wearing them for a while.
@@wyw201 they are not that heavy and anyone complaining they are is simply too weak - not a headphone issue - it’s a physical issue. I buy headphones for build quality and sound quality but won’t accept any plastic headphones especially selling for over AU$500.
@@SpeedfrkOne Material and design issue, not a physical issue. Not in our interests to provide excuses on behalf of poor design and material choices. Just as there are lighter metals than steel and aluminum, there are higher grade composites that can stand up to degradation. Lots of room for innovation, even for $300 AUD threshold.
I hope this is no offence i dont want to be a hater comment, but you tested so many headphones and you still say the microphone quality is top notch, and no issues on multiple connectivity. All bose headphones owners know at least from QC35 that there are software bugs in switching audio sources, at least between a pc/laptop and a phone (who uses it for 2 phones?) Then coming back to the mic quality.. its so so bad compared to other headphones, i need to use skullcandy crusher to talk normally on the phone. Not shouting in a public place, and even this test you did clearly shows how the software is applying some primitive filtering. Not only that they didnt release an update for the issues, but they get brand new headphones out, top notch price.. and with the same problems. Sorryz but you are just not being honest.
I own a Samsung Galaxy S20 phone. When I receive text messages, the headphones do not alert me. Is this alert feature possible on these headphones? Also, I'm unable to activate or use Google Assistant with these headphones. Is it even possible to use Google Assistant with these?

I honestly think sony is the better option but aye u like what u like💯✨️🔥
I just ordered a pair of these ultrase for 269.
What headphones did you end up choosing?
Any feedback on the ANC compared to the 700's? Is it worth upgrading?
I have the Bose QC 45 and 35 and they are amazing, I am very excited about these . Bose are the most comfortable and for me the best
Do these new headphones have this kind of issue?
that's odd, my qc35ii has no pairing issue., connects to everything and switches between 2 devices immediately.
@@papagen00 yeah sometimes I just can’t get them to pair whatsoever and I just stick them in a drawer for 2 weeks and then they work
My QC35ii also REALLY struggle with switching between two devices. If I take a call on my phone, end the call, and then fire up a Zoom call on my computer I often have to open the Bose app and manually toggle off my phone. It's annoying to say the least.
My QC35 always had problems when I left my phone 20 feet away from me
Still loving the NC700 design as it’s far more modern. These just look like huge earmuffs.
Imo these look much more clean and classy. The 700s look loud and sporty, almost like you want people to look at your head.
@@0dylan To each their own. Majority like the 700s more. The 700s look more premium, expensive, and modern. These just look like the QC35s with a touch of metal (or fake metal).
I’m going to get a pair of these early next year
Im upgrading my existing Bose qc 45 that I’ve got for over 2 years I’m going to upgrade to the Bose Bose QuietComfort Ultra Noise Cancelling Headphones and my old Bose headphones to one of my family members
I bought the BOSE 700s a couple years ago... but not really enjoying them --- so Im gonna try the QC Ultras and see how they work for me.
Samsung phones do not support AptX adaptive. They didn't pay for the license, so AptX is all you get. (coming from the Z Flip 5 on Android 13)
so u can choose to use regular aptx in dev settings? cuz i also have the flip 5 but im not sure if it works
Sadly, you are correct on the licensing issue. Pretty ridiculous that these new Galaxy phones are powered by high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon chips and they don’t support aptX Adaptive.
@@notbrian4299I don’t think you can.
@@davidcarnoy961 thats really sad
My AirPods Max's Bluetooth sucks so hard I'm ready to ditch them. Thanks for this review!
Bose over-the-ear headphones always have simultaneous multipoint Bluetooth, but the earbus always need to be switched manually or on the Bose app.
Sit in first class usually have a power outlet 😂
@@PSYCHOV3N0MLots of headphones don’t actually allow for charging and listening at the same time tho
Is this true? I am so curious about this. Saw the other reviewer says that you can still listen with wire after running out of battery.
The 700s didn't have this limitation. are you sure?
My og QC35 are still holding up except in the headband department. I hope future iterations have materials that do not fray
The ear cushion and head band is nkt designed for warm weathers. I have changed on mine qc 35ii thrice. Due to hair oil and normal sweat issue.
I have had the Sonys for a year, and i can say i prefer these over them simply for the bottom that helps control things. I live in New England so hanging l having cold hands and having 90% touch pad controls doesn't work
Got the these last week and loving them. Have qc 35ii, qc45. Nc700 and these these are my new daily driver
Me too. I have all the same headphone. And sennheiser m4 and ultra are my new daily driver
Bose products last forever lol. They don’t break.
I literally upgraded to this from my QC 25 which is still working great. I wanted the Bluetooth mainly
Funny for me to read this, I've been using my QC 35 ii for 6 years with an average 10hrs per day (probably more) and the metal band finally snapped haha might have to get these new ones sadly
I'm happy with the ultras glad I upgraded
Nice, however I look forward for QC55. I prefer physical buttons in such device.
White or black help me choose !
White is much more fingerprint resistant, so if you like both colors equally, go with the white
Black
Friend of mine bought Bose Earbuds Ultra Honestly very disappointed With App And connectivity issues
They didn’t stay connected with App
Random disconnect random Music getting Stoped
The case feels flimsy Very Low quality
I am very curious about these... I love my apple AirPods Max, but for long period of time they hurt my head.
Helpful. Thank you. 😊
I definitely love these headphones and there are high in price but worth the buy in my opinion. Excellent video in description 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Watching from Makkah SAUDI Arabia
I bet u want these headphones
They Fold!!!!!!! YESSSSS
I feel like that makes them one of the best pair of headphones for digital nomads. They fold + great ANC
Nice video. Does it support Apple Lossless Music?
I’m a huge fan of Bose products
All headphones should have easily user-replaceable cushions! Magnetic like AirPods Max would be perfect! I hated replacing the ear pads on my QC every 6-8 months! It should not be this difficult! Also, user-replaceable battery would be ideal! We keep these kinds of headphones for years, and cushions and batteries are the things that take the most wear and tear.
Love the review, but did get distracted by a burning question: what is that phone case you are using in the shot showing the app?
I think it’s otterbox core case
Bose killed it. Hands down
i have the bose 700s which I am considering upgrading to these but im not sure if i should wait for next generation or even a price drop.
The lack of new drivers is disappointing, Bose is really behind on music playback sound quality.
Is it worth upgrading from the Bose 700 that are two years old?
want to ask the same question
I have the same question lol
Same
I have read that the latest version of Beats Headphones are Apple Max Headphones lite. Bose QC Ultra does not have the same chip as Apple's headphones, does this make Beats a better value proposition than Bose QC Ultra for less coin?
First of all, BEATS are a "black thing." I'm shocked you would even buy them lmfao
4:08 From the icons and descriptipn, it looks like Still mode uses Head Tracking, and Motion mode does not… 🤔
My QC25's are still going strong, just need to order some new ear pads for $30 and im set for years to come.. no worries about charging as it holds a battery and space for a spare plus you get the airplane adaptor why wouldn't they include that ???
I want to use with my dac amp dongle and my fiio btr7 but if you have to have them on to use them them i cant see this being possible due to interference.
Bose continues to make sure that i keep my money in my pocket .
No USB c port is a deal breaker .I am good with Sony xm5
Got the NC700, QC45 and QC35II's. Think I can break the addiction this time. Unless the price drops below, say $250 on black Friday.
Are these worth upgrading to from the QC35ii? I have these headphones and use them everyday and love them!
Do it, im upgrading from QC 25's ill get them a set of new pads and keep them as backup.
How about sound leaking? How loud can I play music without disrubting the person next to me in the bus or at the office?
how is partial audio compare to AirPod max? 🙏
Unfortunately, i was not able to smoothly move between my macbook air and iphone 15 pro. I was hoping this would be working well as i used to have QC35s that did this well. I find that my Airpods max do this much better as well as spatial audio. Too bad they always seem to be dead.
what about easily replaceable ear cuffs? or do i have to perform a surgical operation to replace them?
I've just ordered this headphone earlier today. What do you mean it doesn't have USB-C Audio?
Bouhht them for $430 ($474 with tax)
They sound same studio quality as the older QC45
My honest opinion, if you just want fantastic studio quality stereo sound the older QC45 are a perfect choice. These are gimmicky adding reverb and other gimmicks. Not worth $430 when the original BOSE QC's sound just as perfect and are now on sale for just $199 from Bose
They are £449 here in the UK. Which if converted into USD, it would be $545.72. Abit too much
You need USB C to 3.5mm Audio Adapter Hi-Fi Stereo Type C to Aux and all problem solved
But that's another costly deal
Did Bose still skip the find my earphones feature?
The previous version, the 700, is just better all around. I was quise disappointed by this new "ultra". The functionalities that we had on the last one are missing now. No conversation button and no sliding to change music. The materials seem to be pf lesser quality as well. And it got more expensive
Are the pads replaceable?
Noise canceling comparison?
I wear a size 8 New Era Yankees cap, the 700 is tight for me. Will these Ultra fit more comfortably in your view? thanks,
In theory, yes. Bose claims they will fit a wider range of heads better. If you buy them, just make sure you buy them somewhere you can return them without any penalties. I think Bose still allows you to do that.
@@davidcarnoy961 Just ordered the Sandstone exclusive colorway. Thanks for your review.
@@paulchiu Let me know if they fit your head or not!
more than 400 bucks is just too much for me.. Looks ok! cool,too.. but very pricey..
ugh back to plastic buttons after my airpod max randomly died :( im getting airpod pro
Other reviewers reported a poor call quality, so it's a nice surprise that you say differently. Time will tell.
How’s the sound quality with the “immersive” DSP turned off?
Good. The Immersive Audio mode sounds better with some tracks than others.
I hear the mic is horrible compared to the XM5 sonys
Sony may be slightly better for voice calling (they are great) but these are very good, too - at least from my tests.
@@davidcarnoy961 I noticed you mentioned clamp force - would using these for 8hours be an issue?
I purchased the Ultra just hours ago.
I'm into audiophile hi-res headphones and $425 is not a lot to pay for a high-end headphone. In fact, if noise-cancelling is not important to you, I recommend the $700 bowers & wilkins PX8 it rivals wired hi-res cans from audeze and focal.
just a question how wide are the actual muffs or what you call it the things that go over your ears
Good looking pair of headphones 🎧
I'm sticking with Beats Studio Pro and the Sony WH1000MX4
Sorryz but you are just not being honest.
can the carcups be change at all with these or no? just what to make sure
I own a Samsung Galaxy S20 phone. When I receive text messages, the headphones do not alert me. Is this alert feature possible on these headphones? Also, I'm unable to activate or use Google Assistant with these headphones. Is it even possible to use Google Assistant with these?
No
Should we upgrade our 700s?
I think you should but I love the 700 designs hope they would make a upgraded version 700 while keeping the original design
