  • It's possible to get dry wood with snow on the ground, one awesome way is to look for dead and standing trees (if you get a permit for that from your local forest service).
If you are here just to enjoy the ASMR or help you fall asleep....I'm here for that too!
Download my fitness app Dōse on dose.fit if you are here more for the fitness advice.
As always, I appreciate your time for stopping by!

I lost motivation to do anything due to being a diagnosed manic depressant after a work injury 2yrs ago. I was always fit and eager to do physical activities at anytime. I've become so out of shape and lazy compared to my old self. I discovered this channel and see how bad I miss doing hard labor as crazy as it sounds, but this guy is making me want to get back into the swing of things and making me want to be at my best peak physical self. Crazy how a random guy I've never met can have such an impact on my mental state. I'm slowly coming back into my old ways of getting it in blood the hard way because of this dude.

Great video...now I realize the axe I bought was too small for the size logs I was trying to use it for. I guess I got a kindling cutting and not a log cutter lol. The Mrs also gives this two thumbs up and a "oh my lawd..." rating.

I comment and 3 questions. I could watch you chop wood all day. I don’t understand it.
    1. Is that your land or do you need a permit to cut down the trees?
    2. Do you do anything with the bark that came off the tree?
    3. Just wondering if you’ve ever made anything with the wood you cut like a chair or table?
Thanks in advance, I hope you can answer my questions. ❤

    • @ThorenBradley

1.) both. If it’s on my land. No permits are needed. If it is on BLM or national forest land. I use permits. For dead, diseased or threatening trees only.
2.) cedar bark is awesome for kindling fire starters. But I only save some for that if I really need fire starters.
3.) yes. In fact. That counter top in my bathroom at the end is a tree from my property 💪🏼

Just a tip for chopping kindling for people who aren't as experienced with axes. Chopping pieces of wood while holding the wood steady could get you hurt if you miss. Learn to baton. Take a fixed blade knife preferably full tang lay it on the piece edge down with the grain and smack the spine of the blade with a stick driving it down until the piece of wood splits. You don't need a hundred dollar knife with the highest carbon content. I use a cheap ass shrade mini machete made out of stainless steel and it works. I would recommend getting something carbon steel and full tang if you want something that'll last forever but there's cheap enough options with a full tang that for someone just starting out it won't really matter.

To FIND wood, usually drive around, people will have wood outside their houses out for trash, esp after a storm. Keep your eyes open, people are always trying to get rid of wood - good luck!
