When I was young, I had the pleasure of seeing Richardi perform at The Bottom Line, a small club in Greenwich Village, New York that, unfortunately, no longer exists. Richiardi was part of group of touring international magicians performing their particular specialties. As a young magic fan and budding magician myself, I had front row seats and the experience was unforgettable. Richardi was fantastic. In one of his stunning, but gory, illusions, he ran a buzz-saw through his female assistant, sawing her body into two halves. As he did so, pointing the blade in my direction (because I was seated front and center), her "blood" spurted forward in a stream from the stage that fell only a few feet from me. Richardi even invited us up to inspect the body. Of course, he put her "back together" again at the close of the illusion. Richiardi was truly a master magician and a first rate showman.

I saw that show (called 'The Incredible World Of Magic & Illusion' in 1978 at The Village Gate in NYC. We got to inspect the body up close - but he didn't put her back together again.
Maravilloso! Orgullo peruano!
Impecable
He did it well. A fellow friend of ours has that support where he has the blades. NO, the paper is not pre-cut and no, it won’t cut his lips. My late friend Paul potassa did the same with the last blade and one does not necessarily gets cutter. He did the routine well and nothing was actually exposed.
THE BEST!
Bravo!
Richiardi .. viva Peru !
james, what performers do you recall to have seen i new york? any comedy acts like flosso or jay palmer?
Está mágica é Richiardi Jr ou Ricardo Richiardi ...??? Dúvida? Curiosidade..?? Abç
@imyy4upeople1 Right before he grabs the blades @ 1:43, if you pause the video, you can see the thread wrapped around the blades.
@ClassicShowbiz Once they sell out of the Best Of collections, they will start selling the full episodes. Oldest trick in the book. Get people to buy something twice. Eg. Release a Harry Potter movie on DVD with no special features. One year later after all Harry Potter fans have purchased the first release, they release a Two Disc special edition, which is promptly snapped up by all fans again because they want the special features. Two years later release a three disc edition with magic wand
He spent all that time proving the blades were sharp and then at the end he just tossed them to his assistant.
I am a pro Magician. I watched the video again. Just how do you think this trick is done? Some of the close ups may give you some kind of idea. Blame the director not the Magi. I did this trick for years and Richiardi's was one of the greats. Yes, secrets are important to a point. Magic is a performance art. I look at the style.
he is dealing with blunt blades; you can tell the paper is precut at 0:59, and the blade at 2:40 would have cut his lips if it was sharp
@SLYGARR I'm thrilled by great magicians. But learning their secrets ruins everything. I like NOT knowing how it's done!
@SLYGARR I'd believe it if he did a better job at this trick!
@thenewhorizons You people are sad. Einstein said," there are two types of people in the world, those who believe everything is magical and those that don't" I know which one I am. Which one are you?
Joe Pescis real father !!!!
Anyone here because of Chris Angel.
@thenewhorizons This is one performance of the trick on T.V. Richiardi was one of the great magicians of the last century. T.V. was and is never kind to classic magic. Thats why we now have fakers like Chris Angel. magic is one percent secret and 99 percent performance. Copperfield claims he stole Richiardi's style. Look up other shows of the master on you tube, and just enjoy one of the greats. Easy to be a critic, not so easy to create art.
