I would say: stop browsing New In pages of your favorite shops. So much time spent and you end up in a mindset of picking the 'best' piece of every new release, when really you didn’t need it. Look for a specific item only when you actually feel a need of it and browse secondhand first for economic and ecological reasons.
YES! That is a brilliant tip - thank you for sharing :)
When I spend “ small “ amounts of money on meaningless things instead of saving it for a big ticket item such as a handbag or a vacation, that saddens me, and since grief isn’t a good feeling, I have made it a goal to overcome it, best wishes to you and everyone else!
What has helped me too is understanding my body. What is easier to buy online and what is better to try on in-store. Generally, it's best that I try on pants, jeans, more tailored pieces, etc. in a store. I can usually get the sizing right when it comes to knitwear and blouses.
I also try to think of what's missing in my wardrobe vs. what I want first. It helps me feel more productive in my wardrobe. :)
Those are both great tips!! Especially love the first one, thank you for sharing x
What I really learned the past year was to not keep an item, just because it hits the type of item you want, but doesn´t quite hit it. Those are the items I never end up wearing, even though I like the idea of them.
This 100% - seek out your ideal. Funnily am in this situation right now, as I swear I've tried at least 15 pairs of black fine strappy sandals in the search for the perfect pair and still coming up short and not willing to settle for this very reason 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I've wasted so much money getting things that are technically what I wanted and yet not quite. I really need to be more patient while looking.
Happy new year Jamie! Great video! Even though I remember lots of these tips from your previous videos, it’s so helpful to get a reminder and not fall back into old habits! Thank you!! ❤❤
Happy new year to you too! Thank you - I always try to set out my intentions at the start of the year as I feel like it helps set the tone 🥰
You are absolutely right.👍Thank you so much for your gorgeous shopping tips.🥰🥰
Thank you for watching! Happy new year ❤️❤️
Thanks Jamie! Always good advice from you.
Thank you so much and happy new year! x
Shopping sale is great if you need something, and you can then get a better quality than otherwise - then go for it. Personally I limit my purchases between sale seasons, and keep my wish-list. When sale, and pre-sale especially, hits and the item then is within the budget limit I have set, I go for it. Getting so much better quality items in that way, where I would otherwise not afford.
Yay. Thanks for this video. So glad you're back.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed this video xx
Happy new year ! Great vlog , there’s definitely a psychology around why we shop Sezane gets me every time with their “only a few pieces left” comment . I try very hard to be mindful of my spending but Sezane is my “fantasy self” for sure
Happy New Year to you too! YES! I find that often, the pieces that you love actually come back in stock (if you wait a couple of weeks) so that gives you a bit of extra time to mull over the purchase and that realisation has helped me to be much more reserved when shopping their site :)
Dear Jamie! Happy new year! So many true statements! I am trying to follow all of them anyways, but it was very helpful to have you some up all of them. Shopping only when it has been on my wishlist for at least three months and only when I am in a good mood is my essential. Regarding duplicates: Once I had found my personal style and style uniform I bought about five striped tops and got so much wear out of them. But I would never by a duplicate of a white t shirts as it is just not my personal favorite. And if someone thinks I am boring for wearing striped tops almost every day, they a) do not pay attention as they are all so different *LoL* and b) I don’t care.
Happy New Year to you too! And you know, I LOVE that! As someone who appreciates nuance in clothing, can absolutely relate - and it's great that you've found the pieces that work hard for you on a daily/weekly basis :)
You are the best ❤ my fantasy self has great style hahaha. This resonate so much, making a 2024 with better shopping habits!
Haha! Mine too - can be so hard to resist sometimes 😅
That was awesome! Thanks, Jamie
So glad you enjoyed this one!
Thank you for these helpful tips Jamie. I have recently purchased a pair of faux leather trousers, having had them on my wishlist for a while. Unfortunately I dont know how to care for them. Wish I had seen this video first!
So glad you found these tips useful! I suspect the tag will say dry-clean only however to kill bacteria etc you could try the freezer trick that works on denim, and I would wipe down with a damp cloth if you get any dust/dirt xx
Thanks so much for replying Jamie xx you're amazing! ❤
Underwear is something ok to buy in an emotional state. Get a little pop of something with a little dopamine hit. Just keep it basic!
Oh my gosh! Copying style or buying things because you saw someone else wearing it! I’ve done this and realised - I admired the style or liked it on someone but it wouldn’t work for me! Classic example is Tibi stuff!!
YES! Tibi is a big one for me as I love the vibe, the brand etc but with young kids a number of the fabrics are just too fussy for my everyday life (/feel too precious because they're a splurge and I want to cherish them) so have learnt to just admire from afar. That said, I am buying one item from their current end of season sale in the sporty nylon as I know I can machine wash it
Guilty of duplicates 🙋♀️
Same, same! Number one mistake (for items I haven't worn yet - or just over-buying duplicates) I'm trying to quit for 2024 :)
