    I seem to have issues with the audio peking when I start to talk then it levels off. It means fixing the gain on the first word or two in post after any pause more than a few seconds. Is this a problem that you have experience? or is it possible I have something set wrong?

    • @JevenDovey
      @JevenDovey  4 года назад +2

      How is your audio input set on your camera? If its on Auto then that could be causing the issue. I personally haven't had any issues with this system peaking like that, however, it could happen since they are completely automated.

    Okay, I think the answer to this is going to be yes based one of your examples.
    I go walking alone with a dog which is making vlogging difficulty. I am going to change the nature of my videos, speaking to camera less (as I possibly do that too much in these situations) but I still do need to do that.

    I'm currently using picomics from picogear. I clip a mic of to the left side of my shirt to try and combat tilting. I'm a diyer and while working and moving around it will shift and point directly into my neck/chest. So having it to one side helps.... a little. But now, the audio level goes up and down when I turn my head. I'm frustrated and trying to find something I can use where I'm moving around a lot, in front of, behind and all around the camera.

    Great video! I LOVE my Rode Wireless Go system. My question is.... What will generate better audio? 1) High output from Rode and lowered gain in the camera 2) Low output from rode and higher gain in the camera 3) Equalized output and camera gain. Any thoughts? Camera is a Canon HF R800 video camera. Thank you.

    • @JDAfrica
      @JDAfrica 2 года назад +1

      Higher gain on a camera will mean higher noise floor - amplifying preamp noise/hiss.

    Also, do you lose connection when your clients turn around? I keep hearing 'line of sight' is important.
    I am using the Sennheiser G3's but I am considering the Go's because of how fast and easy set up is, and I occasionally get audio interference with the G3's. Would you recommend trying the Rode's out or sticking with the G3's?

    I’ve been waiting for this video! I’ve had my Go for about 7 months now. It’s a love hate relationship 😂 I love these hacks though. My issue is this. I use it clipped on my shirt for vlogging and grocery hauls on my channel and if I’m wearing a tshirt and the mic sits just under my chin the audio is crap compared to if it were lower but if it’s tooooo low cut of a shirt then it sound ‘tinny’. I don’t get it. So im going to try setting the mic on top of my camera for a change and see how that sounds thanks again!!! 🙏🙌✌️💕🇨🇦

    I use my units with an on-camera mic, splitting the signal to my camera and Zoom F6, so that the camera records at 24bit and the Zoom records at 32bit float. I did some recent tests and it certainly appears that the Wireless GO units transmit, end to end, an analogue signal that's recorded by the F6 as 32bit float. Best little units around.

    • @BushMasterThermal
      @BushMasterThermal 4 года назад

      Amazing find here. So the F6 can make use of the analogue output signal from lowest to highest levels. Great stuff.
      The only thing with Rode that they have not considered releasing yet is a Stereo version, to actually make the setup perfect.
      Maybe i will wait for Wireless GO 2

    • @AustralianImage
      @AustralianImage 4 года назад

      @@BushMasterThermal Yes, that's exactly what it can do. I have no doubt that the likes of the MixPre 3 II can do the same, but in my view the F6 is a far more practical unit. The Wireless GO will record a left and right signal, so if you use a splitter cable and attach a mic to each cable end, you'll effectively get stereo audio. The F6 will record stereo and ambisonic.

    I had these on my wishlist for a long time, because I wanted to do some yoga videos. Thanks for pointing out the flaws in transmission here. I might have to look into the quality of transmission, because of course I want the transmitter to be invisible behind my back, and not at all in line of sight with my camera. That is exactly what I absolutely do not want - a little black rectangle on my shirt... Also that should not be an issue with that kind of technology in the first place. It's not a camera remote frequency I guess! So I will have to look into the power and frequency. I must say, more technical detail in this video would have been so helpful... It is more about the look and feel, and some functions, which can be understood by any amateur. But the more technical aspects are missing. I.e. there is a reason why something like interruption of line of sight can be an issue, like a weak signal or the kind of frequency the signal is on, robustness of transmission against disturbance etc... And that would not be a good thing in this case. I would absolutely not buy it for that exact reason, and I find that it is a very important question about this system...

    Hi Jeven, My purpose is to record videos on my canon camera using a wireless microphone(just like the rode wireless go). But i also need something to be able to hear(wireless) the audio of the participants in Zoom calls or regular phone calls and talk to them.Bose QuietComfort 35 can do this.But it looks too heavy and lacks the ability of routing my audio to the canon camera (mic input 3.5mm )which is bit far from my desk. I don't want to buy two different things.
    So suggest me some wireless microphone that can transfer my audio clearly to the camera or laptop and also listen audio in calls.(a very minimalistic headset that looks good in the videos & video calls/detachable from the microphone setup when not in use).Please ensure it is compact, wireless, good quality microphone. If it is a user replaceable battery system, then it will be more convenient to me.

    thank you for always dropping knowledge bombs! I trust your opinion explicitly. what d you feel about the IXEL Wireless cavalier microphone compared to the RODE (they seem exactly the same besides the housing and the obvious price difference of about $180)

    I RELUCTANTLY BOUGHT THESE BUT I, HAPPY PUT MY AUDIO GAME TO A NEW LEVEL TURN THEM ON AND THEY PAIR IN UNDER 2 SECONDS BUT I WOULD RECCOMEND ATTACHING A LAV MIC JUST SO IT LOOKS LESS SKETCH AND MORE PROFESSIONAL BUT TO HAVE WIRELESS MICS THAT YOU CAN LITERALLY KEEP IN YOUR POCKET VERY IMPRESSED THE FACT IT DOES NOT NEED BATTERIES LITERALLY ALLOW IT TO PAY FOR IT SELF OVER TIME
