@Mark Morden: Nah, no damage... Paper label against a diamond wouldn't do much more than leave some paper fibers on the point. Beside that, I used the "junk" cartridge and stylus just to be safe.
Hidden, but not hidden very well. I guess he thought pressing it into the labels would make it look like some sort of decoration instead of an audio track. You're right, though...
Thanks. And, for that matter, he probably should've had the "locked" groove only LOOK like one, but, in reality, it'd actually roll into the label area where the "hidden" tracks are. It would've made it MUCH easier to cue up the tracks, anyway. Maybe even make the labels vinyl, too, so those tracks don't sound so bad.
But another thing- one "hidden" track is 45RPM, the other is 78RPM. Lead-in from the concentric would require a speed change. I think the coolest thing about this record is the reverse spiral of the second side- plays from inside to edge! The dual groove double-intro of the first song is pretty cool, too. I have a copy of "Monty Python's Matching Tie and Handkerchief" LP with a dual groove on side two. I first bought this way back in the '70s and was amazed that they could do that. Depending on how the stylus landed, it would play one of two tracks. Hats off to the guy who cut that lacquer!
Hello there Mark I hope that you are well this week and all is ok and you are warm and well . I am looking all over to find 5 color tonearm wire to repair a turntable and I need the socket to put the headshell in that has the four pins that connect to the wires in the tonearm as well. can you help me find a place that is cheap and reliable I eed enough to fix four turntable but only need the one harness for a audio technica at-pl120 turntable .I would be very grateful for your time thank you and thank you in advance
The source I used to get my tonearm wire has gone out of business, but they can be found on eBay: www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=tonearm+wire+kit&clk_rvr_id=1418948275989&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInJWpo__h2AIVTkwNCh0SQwOjEAAYAiAAEgL3k_D_BwE&geo_id=10232&MT_ID=70&crlp=190001378043_3417&rlsatarget=aud-126380771769%3Akwd-303640435377&keyword=tonearm+wire+kit&abcId=473846&treatment_id=7&poi=&adpos=1t2&device=c&crdt=0&ul_noapp=true Oh boy! The collet to attach headshells is going to require some searching to get what you need. You may have to replace the entire arm just for that one stupid piece. Search: tonearm collet; tonearm bayonet connector; tonearm headshell connector. They're out there, but each manufacturer makes them specific to the tonearm that they make, so don't expect a generic replacement.
Sounds like there's a good reason they're hidden. Thanks for saving me the trouble.
5 head
i love the care you had with placing the needle on the groove, even if it was the junk stylus and cartridge

What he SHOULD'VE done is made the labels smaller to accommodate the extra grooves.
But... they wouldn't be "hidden" tracks if he did that!
Are they, now? All I'd have to do is look at the labels and I'd know they were there. At least with no paper over them, they'd sound better.

1:12 that song has a nice groove! Wish there's a real recording i can hear through digital.
2:18 has something that sounds creepy.
