Is the improvement of 180hz from 144hz worth it in terms of normal web browsing, scrolling etc. I'm confused 24GN65R-B and 24GS60F. The 180hz monitor has a basic stand and the 144hz has that rotating stand.

    • @razorwaffle9498
      @razorwaffle9498  4 месяца назад

The difference between 144hz and 180hz is pretty minimal honestly and only ever makes a difference in fast paced fps games, If the 24GS60F-B is cheaper than the 24GN65R-B then it might be worth it to buy a 24GS60F-B with a desk mount or something similar. But if they are extremely similar in price then I would go with the convenience of the better stand.

I did test HDR a little but honestly it just does not work well (tested HDR video and games like cyberpunk), even though I went through the settings carefully it just looked washed out compared to SDR. You need a monitor that can do close to 1000nits of brightness for HDR to look remotely good.

1.this monitor doesn't have FreeSync but supports an open standard created by vesa called adaptive sync. And this adaptive sync is supported by AMD gpus. It acts the same way as freesync and works perfectly good (I have a second monitor with freesync premium compatibility which I can compare it to) so you don't have to worry about that.
      2. When compared to my old monitor from 2019, the colours are more accurate (the backlight is better and the whites actually look like whites) the colours are more punchy and vivid, and generally while playing games, the difference is fairly large and if seen side by side my old monitor easily looks worse (remember im only comparing a 2019 display 13k to a 2024 display 11k)and there is a lot of customisation you can do if you want. There is a normal amount of backlight bleeding, and the blacks are pretty good for a LCD monitor (the colour quality is comparable to a 30-40k 4k LCD TV).
Personally if you have a tight budget I would recommend this monitor over ones from Acer. But you will find that gigabyte is also probably a good option.

      The LG24GN60R-B has a 6 bit + FRC panel

Hey, I was looking to get this as it is currently available on flipkart for 9.5k. So, nice review but I think you missed pointing about the most important feature of this monitor i.e. g-sync compatibility at 10k. I guess probably you don't have a nvidia gpu but otherwise it is a great advantage. Also the panel is 8bit + dithering panel i.e. it can sort of produce hdr color that is really good for the price.
Also are you using this monitor with pc or a laptop?

I'm using this monitor with a Gaming PC (RX 6600 XT).
and yes, I agree I didn't really talk about the g-sync compatibility, and I did actually try it with another pc (GTX 1660 super), And it worked well and didn't cause any issues, also take note that this is the new "g-sync compatible" rating so expect it to work the same as adaptive sync.

      @@nifaakhmal7592
I just looked at the AOC 24G4 and I can say that, they are almost the same except for a few key differences.
      1. The LG24GS60F has 10bit dithering display (so if you use Photoshop or edit videos go for this)
      2. The AOC 24G4 Has an 8 bit (6bit + FRC) display and it includes MPRT. Honestly this means that you will probably get a lot of eye fatigue while using this in MPRT node even more than other monitors because of the FRC display.
Frame Rate Control pretty much flickers the display between two colours extremely fast so that you get a new in-between colour (this causes eye strain to people with sensitive eyes) and using MPRT may also cause eye strain.
So I would say that the LG is better unless the AOC is significantly cheaper for you.

      MSI G255F 24.5 inch:-
      /Positive.
      1. The MSI monitor has a better stand
      2. The MSI monitor has 2xHDMI slots compared to the singular one in the LG
      /Negative
      3. Does not provide Gsync support (but will still work with freesync and an nvidia gpu)
      MSI G255F 24 inch:-
Same positive and negatives as before but comes with improved SRGB% which is 122%
and this is 170hz instead of 180hz (this is negligible and it doesn't matter).
      MSI G255F E2 24 INCH:-
Same positive and negatives as before but comes with improved SRGB% which is 118%
      and this is 180HZ.
Get the MSI G255F E2 if its in your budget and if not then I would suggest that you should get whatever is cheapest.

Ok I just did some research and from what I can see, gsync doesn't work with any kind of hdmi adapter (probably). Your best bet is to check if your usb c port on your laptop uses display port protocol (which it probably does).
Then use a good display port to usb c adapter (which will make it work on the display port alternate protocol and gsync will work)
      (or)
Just buy a display port to usb c cable.
But make sure that your laptop's usb c port supports 1080p 180hz.
Note: a display port 1.4 cable comes with the monitor
And if you can tell me the model name of your laptop I can help you out a little more

I had posted this video a few months ago, and believe that back then it was a really good monitor. And looking at the pricing now, you can easily go for the MSI 244f e2, or the MSI 255f. These are both around 9k on amazon and comparable to this monitor. Now these 9k monitors were around the price of the LG monitors i.e around 10-11k. But LG really does not like lowering prices, and now its depends on how much you can get it for.
And let me add, that this monitor is still worth the price as it is one of the few monitors with 10 bit color at the price range (which is really good for graphic design and video creation). Now if you want a monitor purely for gaming, I would go for one of those I mentioned above.

First of all, thank you for your review! I've been considering this monitor for a couple of months now, and it's already available for sale in Germany. I have a couple of questions.
Do your eyes get tired after working with this monitor, and is there any protection against harmful blue light?

    And how about energy consumption?

      Thanks for your comment.
      1. Do my eyes get tired
Ans. Generally not that much, and I would say that my eyes are a little prone to fatigue (this is probably because the monitor has a high refresh rate and also little ghosting.)
      2. Is there any protection against blue light.
Ans. First let me make this clear blue light isn't harmful exactly that's just a hoax, but it does make you stay awake for longer fatigues your eyes.
But answering your question. Yes, there is a reader mode in the monitor settings to lower blue light, you can also manually adjust the amount of blue light.
3.How does it perform when working with small fonts
Ans. I've only checked for fonts as small as size 9, it works well and is mostly clear I will edit this comment with more info in an hour or two.
      4.Energy consumtion
Ans. It uses about 17 watts on average in the standard factory settings (of course this is lowered when you lower the brightness)

Took me a while to check but I can confirm that the text is sharp at font size 9 and is very readable but 8-7 is fuzzy and not so comfortable. And anything below is blurry and hard to read. (I used Google docs for this)

The easiest thing I could say is that it's pretty much the same, save for some features like the 180hz on the 60f-b (compared to the 144hz on the 65R). They also traded FreeSync for adaptive sync, (I'll leave this here from another comment of mine "this monitor doesn't have FreeSync but supports an open standard created by vesa called adaptive sync. And this adaptive sync is supported by AMD gpus. It acts the same way as freesync and works perfectly good.")
The real difference you will even notice is that the LG24GN65R has a better stand (more degrees of tilt and height adjustment, the 60f-b just has a simple stand).
So if you want to know what I would do with these two options.
I would buy the 24gs60f-b for about 11k (or 10k if I had the bank offer and the reason being that it has 180hz and the panel is effectively the same as the GN65R).
Then use the leftover money to either buy an adjustable VESA monitor mount (or you know just use it as is and keep the money)

Yes it will. Generally monitors like this can work at 60, 72, 80, and 100 there are ways to even run it at weird refresh rates like 111 or something and it doesn't cause issues.
I'm not sure how cs 1.6 works but you might not have to reduce the refresh rate in windows settings if adaptive sync works in the game. (Just open the monitor settings and check if the fps is stuck at 100 fps when playing the game with adaptive sync on, this means that adaptive sync is working) though I'm not too sure if this even works for CS 1.6.
