The no-waste tip is a good one. Most fly tying videos I see pre-cut things that they don’t have to and the waste drives me bonkers! Maybe I am just cheap/poor but working with the spool in hand is worth saving materials.
Great video. As always. I love the complex twist. That is such a cool effect. Gonna try that when I get home tomorrow. Thanks for all the advice and tips. Have a great rest of your week.
I absolutely love tying many, many of my patterns using UV Polar Chenille !! Thanks for the video that helps other tiers too !!! It's so important to help to pass on our love for fly fishing & tying to the next generation. Thanks again & I look forward to new videos. David M. Great tips for materials that can be difficult at times. Also, I stopped by the “Fly Fish Food” fly shop in Utah on July 4th. Great fly shop and huge tying materials section. Unfortunately Cheech had already left.
Cool! I've never seen it twisted together like the with feathers. I have used it to finish off some nymph heads before to make it look like legs or wings emerging. It's good looking stuff. I've had people ask me how I duped it on. I just laughed. I love the stuff.
Each time you've done it, I've been blown away at the results of the not-so-complex complex twist. Not to mention, it's given me a use for all my less-than-ideal schlappen. Thanks, Brian!
I gotta say, when im tying any wrapping materials, Estaz, chenille, polar, rope, any of them i hold the entire pack in palm of hand to snip after the effect is achieved.. lil if any waste...Good tip Brian
Just got done using some polar chenille half an hour ago , this video could've helped me out a bit with the last fly I tied lol . Great video Brian ! Really love the complex twist for the bodies.
UV Polar Chenille is absolutely one of my favorite materials. So versatile! My best producing fly is Rich's Ultimate Worm Fly. I substituted the yarn Chenille with the UV Polar Chenille. Weaving the purple and black together produces a junebug color of the conventional soft plastics.
Thank you Brian for another stellar video and tip saving materials and the complex twist. I'm going to have to try it out and up some small bait fish patterns for this summer.
Howdy, I use all the time for my streamers. Another tip hang polar chenille from a hook or Peg and it straightens out real nice when not in use. Peace✌
It's funny how smart some folks think fish are. When I was a kid, like 12 or 13 we dissected a fish. It's brain was about the size of a pea. So can fish count the number of turns of ribbing? I doubt it. But on the other hand. they outsmart me a lot. Maybe my brain is smaller than theirs. Anyway good video Brian. I'm with you an the waste of materials. Keep the good stuff coming buddy and I hope it's not too hot down there.
try this.. pull the stuff out of the bag, and wrap it around one of those carboard things that the chellnel is wraped around after you use it up, dont toss them in the bin,, they are still useful
Hi Brian. Another great materials video. I really enjoy these videos and I’ve learned a lot. Do you ever have to steam your polar chenille to get the twist out or do you just twist it as you are tying?
Hi, thanks for the tips. As the fibers are more or less on one side, but do you see any difference on direction of the fibers, if they are pointin upwards or downwards? Do you have opinion on that matter?

Cheech truly is a mad scientist. Never met him but his videos… I hate waste, too thanks for the tips!
Ever since I saw your double deceiver video, pretty much all my deceivers have used polar chenille on the body. Great video!
That complex twist is going to become a staple for my streamers. Super dope!
Complex twist is a game changer. It’s been awesome. Great video
The no-waste tip is a good one. Most fly tying videos I see pre-cut things that they don’t have to and the waste drives me bonkers! Maybe I am just cheap/poor but working with the spool in hand is worth saving materials.

Love that little baitfish pattern! I am going to spin one of those ups with the colors I have laying around and give it a go.

Polar chenille is tremendous, but sometimes I find the the cording on the uv stuff is a bit bulky. Loved the complex twist idea!

Great video as always.

Hi Brian. Another great materials video. I really enjoy these videos and I’ve learned a lot. Do you ever have to steam your polar chenille to get the twist out or do you just twist it as you are tying?
That was really helpful,thanks
The complex twist is the best. I would have suggested it if you hadn't done it already.
Well now I finally know how to use polar chinelle
