I had a 2018 base wrx from new and sold it with 70k miles in early 2023. The only issue I had was the ac compressor around 50k miles. I loved it and my wife wants an outback in the future. Love a good wagon and the outback is a great platform

@@druyay69 We live in the mountains of north central Washington state and get 5-7 feet of snow every winter.
We’re 5 miles from town (1/2 an hour from the city) on a private road that we have to plow and maintain ourselves.
My wife has wanted an Outback forever, so in 21, I decided to surprise her with a new Outback for her birthday.
I know what color combinations she likes in a vehicle so I began to search for a Cinnamon Brown Pearl with Ivory Leather interior.
I cast my net wide because I knew it would be hard to find the color combo that she would like best.
The dealership from Tacoma, WA called me and said that they had just gotten in a 2019 lease return with only 5,600 miles.
I had priced out a new 2021 and the MSRP was $38,900.
The dealership in Tacoma told me that they would sell me the 2019 for $33K.
I decided that for the price difference and the super low mileage, the 19 would be a Great deal.
I asked them how much would the final price be including taxes, license, etc.
I gave them $200 to hold the car for 2 days as I needed to go to the bank and get a cashiers check for the full price and I’d be in the following day to buy it.
Tacoma is a 5 hour drive round trip.
I told my wife that I needed to go to Tacoma to look at a vehicle and would love her company.
When we pulled into the Subaru dealership, she asked me why we were there and I made up some lame excuse.
The dealership had pulled her car into the showroom and put a BIG Red bow on it.
After the 2.5 hour drive, of course we had to use the bathroom.
I got out first and was waiting by her Outback when she came out.
She came over to the car and was looking it over.
She smiled and told me that she’d Love to own an Outback just like that one.
I told her to sit inside to see how well she liked the seats. She did as I suggested. I sat in the passenger side.
We talked about the car for a short time and we got out.
I asked her if that was exactly what she wanted someday when it was time to replace her 18 year old Camry.
She smiled and told me, “Absolutely”.
I then handed her the keys and said, “Happy Birthday, Baby”.
Her beautiful green eyes danced with confusion and excitement. She looked at me and asked, “What are you talking about?”
I then told her that this was a rouse to get her to come with me as I had been looking for an Outback for her. Her 50th birthday was actually in 2022, so I was a year early, but I thought it was going to take longer to find exactly what she wanted.
My beautiful little red headed wife was taken aback.
      We filled out the paperwork.
I drove her 18 year old Camry back home and she drove her “new” (to us) Outback. For her birthday the next year I bought her a “floating” diamond necklace.
She currently has only 38K miles on her 5 year old Outback. She still loves her car.
As far as her Camry goes, even though it was 18 years old, it had only 110K miles on it and we donated it to our church and it was given to a single mother who desperately needed a car.
The Outback is an awesome road car that is very comfortable, though it is GUTLESS, as it’s Not the Turbo.
The traction is superior in our very snowy winters.
Her Outback is the First car that we’ve ever owned that we don’t have to put studded snow tires on during the winter.
Even my 11 RAV 4WD Limited with the 3.5L V6 had to have studded tires put on during the winter.
When she needed new tires, I bought her a set of Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires.
They’re Amazing tires on ALL road conditions.
In fact we like the tires so much that when a friend of mine needed to buy new tires for his wife’s Honda Pilot AWD he bought the CC2’s for her SUV. She’s told me that she too has better traction on all road conditions and gets better fuel economy.
So if your wife wants an Outback, I personally think it would be a great idea if you bought her one.

I am currently driving my first Subaru, a 23 limited. Other than the roof creak that I'm also experiencing, it's my favorite of all the cars I've owned. I just hope it will be trouble free for 10 more years.

I’m sorry to hear that the roof creak isn’t isolated to only my example. I would imagine these will run well for 10+ years given how well mines been holding up! A while ago I filmed a 1/4 million mile Outback and it was in surprisingly good shape!!

I appreciate your insight!! I’ve probably driven 5 or 6 different brands of EVs at this point and Tesla is likely the only one I would consider, with the Y being the best selling EV for good reason. I hope you continue to enjoy it!!

Nice looking Outback! I bought my ‘18 Forester new, shortly after that it started squeaking, creaking, and rattling. It now has 18 squeaks, creaks, and rattles, from every corner.. it’s extremely disappointing. ✌️😏

Thanks! Yeah, rattles and creaks are no fun. I can’t imagine having 18 of them lol. Thanks for watching!

I've noticed that the roof rails creak when it's warm and the vehicle is flexing. Had one set replaced under warranty, but the 2nd set is doing it as well. Maybe the roof rail bolts need to be tightened, but pulling the headliner is a big job...

  • @Doc1855

Are you serious that 3 years is the longest time you’ve ever owned a vehicle?
    WOW 😳
It’s not how much you’ve spent on maintenance, it’s about how much money you’ve lost on buying and turning around in a couple of years that you’ve lost in buying new and turning around and selling or trading it in.
My wife saw a new Toyota Crown SUV AWD Hybrid today.
She Really liked it. But her 2019 Outback has only 38K miles and because we keep our vehicles for Many years and miles before either selling them or donating them to our church before replacing them.
The Crown has the 2.5L 4cyl from the Camry, the eCVT from the Grand Hilander / Cienna.
The interior, suspension is Lexus quality and they’re built in Japan.
They’re basically a Lexus with a Toyota price tag.
I’m still Loving my 23 TRD OR LB.
We have some large areas on our property that I’m really tired of mowing or weed eating so we decided to put down weed barrier and on top of that we decided to put bark for low maintenance.
Sharelle and I were Off Roading earlier this year and came up on an area where a logging company had harvested a Lot of Douglas Fir trees and stripped off the bark. I told her that we discovered where we can get free bark.
Yesterday I hired a couple of guys from our local “Men’s Mission House”, (for men who are living sober and coming off of alcohol and drug addiction) to take them up to load up my TRD of bark.
We made 3 trips, (each trip is about 15 miles round trip). Next Saturday I plan on getting 3-5 more trips to cover the area’s where I’ve laid down the weed barrier.
I’m thankful that we’re able to pay them for their labor and getting the free bark. It’s a Blessing for us and them.
This is the 2nd time I’ve hired them for work around our property.
Bro, you’ve got my email. Y’all need to come up after Thanksgiving. Let us know in advance and we’ll block the days that you want to come up, so you and your wife and baby can stay in our (almost 800 sq ft) 1 bedroom 1 bath, full kitchen, private entrance attached apartment.
From thanksgiving to February 14th Leavenworth has their Christmas lights on for display.
It’ll give y’all a nice place to stay while having fun in Leavenworth, Cashmere or Wenatchee.
Depending on when y’all want to come, you’ll have to put your Subie in X mode just to get up our private road and driveway.
We won’t bug you, unless you want us to tag along on 1 of the days.

Haha, it’s a problem. But it’s an affordable splurge and a way I enjoy spending extra money I suppose. I’ve heard those Crowns are very nice, but have no actual experience with them. That’s a good way to connect! I’m glad it’s all working out for you guys and thanks again for the generous offer!!

I have a 24 Outback Premium. I had a rattle and creak in the headliner too. I got it in the dealer to get checked. It turned out to be the shoulder belt for the middle back seat wasn’t seated correctly. Simple fix. I thought for sure that they would have to tear into the headliner.

    • @mattheviewer
      @mattheviewer 2 месяца назад +2

Both of my Outback XT's have also suffered rattles from the middle-rear shoulder belt roof-mount storage sockets. Careful positioning of belt tang within that socket will reduce or stop that rattle.

Haha, nothing been decided yet. But the itch to change vehicles has been coming back. Especially since I sold my Miata a few months ago. I just don’t know what its replacement will be yet. I’ll definitely wait and see what the 2026 Outback looks like before I decide though. 😉

I hear a lot of mixed results and there’s so many factors that go into each of our driving scenarios that I’m not surprised. Driving mostly through the country side I get better than EPA rated.

You have illegal driver & passenger teinted windows. There is a reason why only the back windows are allowed, but not the front ones.

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  2 месяца назад +2

What state are you in that front tint is illegal? Around here 20% on the back half and 35% on the front windows is the legal limit, which is what mine is.
