Paul McCartney's song 'Golden Earth Girl' is an ode to nature and its serene beauty. The lyrics describe a female figure, the 'Golden Earth Girl', who is deeply connected to the natural environment around her. She is portrayed as a 'Female Animal', a creature that sings to the wind and rests at sunset in a moss-covered nest. This image evokes a feeling of peace and harmony with nature, suggesting a simple and pure existence, in tune with the natural cycles of the world.
The song also references clear water and the 'Golden Earth Girl's' reflection in a pool, symbolizing introspection and self-awareness. Water, a vital and purifying element, is a friend of wild nature, and reflection in the pool can be seen as a moment of self-discovery and contemplation. The lyrics mention 'someone on the other side counting', which may suggest a universal and timeless connection between all living beings, transcending space and time.
The repetition of the image of 'fish in a sunbeam' and 'eggshell seas' creates a sense of fragility and ephemeral beauty. The fish, symbolizing life, swim in a delicate and precious environment, reinforcing the idea that nature is something to be appreciated and protected. The 'Golden Earth Girl', as a nature lover, smiles at the sky as she watches the sunset, finding joy and contentment in the simple wonders of the natural world. The song, with its soft melody and poetic lyrics, invites the listener to reflect on the importance of preserving and valuing nature in its purest and most untouched form

But the cloud remains in the membrane and that is what they gave you here. Still all in fun because every channel needs a troll. @theogenesterrajunior5484 - That was a lovely review of the lyrics to "Golden Earth Girl". Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this song with us.
However... you did omit any mention of the particular phrase that really tickled Cory ("eggshell finish").
Paul chose to end the song with "eggshell finish"... and that is what truly perplexed Cory (and me as well).
Do you have any thoughts for us on just that particular phrase..?
Edit - After reading all the comments I found some other very good comments that delved right into that lyric - and I appreciate it.

The imagery is luminously vivid and (sorry to say) really pretty obvious, guys. Linda, "female animal", sees her reflection in a mossy pool...sunbeams slant down... she's dreaming that "someone over there" (other side of the mirror) is looking into the same pool "in another [tropical] world" and seeing colourful "fish in a sunbeam". Maybe you're not aware that 'eggshell blue' is a pale blue colour that here evokes clear tropical seas. 'Eggshell finish' is a sort of very smooth nearly matt or satin-like surface texture, that evokes a texture typical of those small colourful tropical fish. Look next time you're near an aquarium. "In eggshell seas" also functions as a wordplay on the Latin phrase "in excelsis" meaning "in the highest place or degree" as in "in excelsis deo" = god is in the highest, or more generally "sublime" or "heavenly". Beautiful and clever.

I can recall Paul talking about the lyric 'eggshell finish' as sounding like the latin religious phrase 'in excelsis'. A delibearte pun (“in eggshell seas” for “in excelsis”). In latin the phrase means 'Glory to God [Deo] in the highest,” quoting the angels' words of praise. As a complete lapsed Catholic all those years going to mass has finally had some pay off. You can hear Paul when singing it trying to make the two interpretations difficult to distinguish. Quite clever really.

Regarding the extra musicians playing the solo, they were Gordon Hunt on the oboe and Susan Miller on the flute.
The solo was arranged, once again, by Carl Davis, Paul's collaborator on 1991's Liverpool Oratorio.
You can clearly hear a classical music influence in that part.
According to Hamish Stuart, McCartney had originally envisioned to play the song accompanied only by an orchestra, but eventually it became another "band" song

I don't get why you guys are becoming way and way more dismissive of Paul's lyrics as the songs on this album go on.
McCartney has always used a poetic or surrealistic register in his writing since his Beatles' days, and that didn't seem to bother you that much until now.
That kind of lyrics don't have to "mean" something in a proper way, but to sound good and musical and to inspire one's imagination.
I mean, does Monkberry Moon Delight mean anything? Or a big hit like Jet, for that matter? Or many songs off the Back To The Egg album that you champion so much (And rightfully so!), like Old Siam, Sir for instance?
Paul has used quite a beautiful poetic imagery on this song as well as the two preceding it, that you guys didn't seem to grasp and dismissed maybe too hastily.
Also, maybe influenced by his recent collaboration with Elvis Costello, Paul used a lot of wordplays in his writing for this album as well (With an entire song, Biker Like An Icon, built upon it), and for this love song for Linda he wanted to use the Latin ecclesiastic expression "IN EXCELSIS", which means in the highest regard, suggesting giving Linda herself or the love the two of them shared an almost divine status.
Then Paul altered it in "In eggshell seas" and the rest of the chorus was written accordingly.
Anyway, again, those lyrics sound very musical to the ear, but maybe, being a non-native English speaker, I'm less attached to the meaning of them.
That's one of the greatest merits of Paul and The Beatles in general: To have written songs that also people who does not speak nor understand English can find appealing to their ears.
Paul in particular is VERY good at it.
Musically, this song draws a lot from two previous McCartney compositions, Maybe I'm Amazed and, especially, Warm And Beautiful.
Both of them are love songs about Linda and his love for her, so perhaps that was done on purpose given the subject of this tune.
Still, the wonderful chorus gives this song a totally original spin

I pretty much agree with all you say but like any artist he does have the odd dud here and there. However, I really am disappointed with the fact that people so often overlook his deliberate use of the sounds of words. The voice is another instrument, and instruments make sounds not lyrics (not literally anyway). It is very much a valued aspect in jazz music. That’s why I like Bip Bop. Mumbo is another example even the ‘wo-wo-wo-Wah’ in My Love. I agree with Biker Like and Icon word play being effective. In fact it's a great song to use as an example.
I still think the words in Peace in the Neighbourhood are weak because for me they don't work as either word play, phonetically such as Bip-bop and the meaning is not that convincing. Some might find ‘in a Love Dimension’ poetic but I don’t. Additionally in that song he is trying to convey an important message, so it matters if he succeeds lyrically or not. This is I wish to stress in more uncommon than his successful sometimes beautiful lyrical creations. We can't all agree on every song and of all aspects of every song. The beauty with Paul is that opinions will vary but more often than not people will find more in common to love, than differences in view. Back to word usage...
Even the words IN EXCELSIS can have differing levels of meaning from as you say, 'highest regard' yet it can stretch as far as 'Glory to God in the highest.' That is very typical of Latin with religious origins being over centuries turned into more secular forms yet still maintaining an overall similar meaning, in this case being of a higher being. In other songs such as Monkberry Moon Delight it is a case where the non-sensical is a delight. Just the imaginative creation of such a title makes it great.
I think it highly likely that Jim (Paul’s father) music must have influenced him. It is something Lennon really didn’t utilise. Lennon was of course a brilliant lyricist and poet even, but Paul does often get overlooked for his use of words/lyrics for the sound they give rather than some completely literal meaning. I listen to a lot of vocal jazz and have for decades so I really appreciate Paul's almost jazz like inclusions. Most Paul fans I believe can hear this in his music whereas those who do not connect with his music at all, don’t understand this component of his writing. Sorry, I just realised I have doubled up on this aspect. Although I do think influences are of interest.
For some reason Ueti I got an email saying I had a reply from you, but I can't find it when I click the link. Perhaps due to me editing a post? Anyway, cheers for now.

@Uetti - Don't come down too hard on CPO & Cory for how these lyrics struck them on first listen. Or even after 5 or 10 listens. I like the sound of this song... but I never had a real deep connection with it - because the lyrics just did not speak to me in the way that many of his songs do. I have felt (much like CPO & Cory) that the same song, with somewhat different lyrics, might have had a much greater connection with me.
I had some of the same thoughts that they did with the lyrics. I never really got the "eggshell seas" and eggshell finish" bits.... But thanks to the comments here for this video... I now have a much better understanding of what Paul was going for. Thanks to each of you fans that brought a much better understanding of those lines to me. I appreciate you all sharing your thoughts and ideas. It's fun to read... and it can be enlightening as well.

You guys are saying what I've been saying for years. Paul doesn't have anyone that he allows to tell him that something's a bad idea! His ego won't let anyone be in that position. At least with the Beatles, he had John who would tell him that something was a bad idea. After that, the only person he ever heeded about anything at all was Linda, and she knew absolutely nothing about music. That's why his career is such a frustrating mixture of genius and bad ideas.
To be sure, Paul is not the only person who suffers from this situation. Consider Dolly Parton's ridiculous decision to record a rock album. Why didn't she have anyone in her life who could say, "Dolly, that's a bad idea"?

As others have pointed out... Paul has had Denny Laine to some degree, George Martin from time to time, Elvis Costello for a short period of time, Youth seems to have been a decent collaborator with him (I Love that last Firemen album)... and lots of different producers who have "guided" him at different times. While these people have some times helped him... there have been a lot more times during his career when he preferred to be on his own. Sure, he misses the mark from time to time. But overall... I'd say he's done a pretty darn well - to great. I'd venture a guess that there are more songs written by Paul McCartney that I greatly enjoy or love... than any other artist.
