    Great vid! What are the negatives of flood fill? Any degradation of quality. Curious why this would just simply be the default setting?

      Not a lot of drawback n my experience unless you're doing a lot of thin lines causing very rapid direction changes in shot travels which can be hard on smaller machines.

    Thanks bro. I didn't know about the Flood Fill option. In newer versions this option is under the Advance Tab.

    Hi Carl, first of all thanks for the tutorial.
    I don't know if I understand, but let's say we have a Circular Ellipse with 5mm Offset (similar to the square you showed in 2:22) and we'll use Fill + Line; In that case, can I use Flood Fill? Will this behave in the movements as if the laser were cutting? Thanks

    At "Less impact on your Machine" i wouldn't agree. Using flood fill there are much more acceleraton/deceleration cycles stressing the Motors and Belt drives, as well as the Linear rails.🤔

    Amazing feature, I can't wait to try this on my low cost laser. I've purchased Lightburn and I use it on Ubuntu and I love it!

    Any ideas why my 60w fiber won't engrave all the details unless I turn on flood fill? All the settings, focus, seems to be correct...

      Unfortunately I don't have any insight on that. My recommendation would be to post to the support forum or send their support team a message.

    At minute 1:40, it would be easier to understand if you checked the "Show traversal moves" box :)

    how do i get flood fill setting ?

  • @coww74
    @coww74 Год назад

    Great tutorial. I would just be wary of using this on faster machines like CO2 lasers because this will cause a lot more smaller rapid movements which will be tougher on the machine rather than helping the machine. In terms of quality of engraving I would also avoid this on designs with more detail rather than large areas of white space, because like the letters here, when it has to come back and do areas separately, the colors of the wood engravings will vary rather than being one consistent color. A post titled "Flood Fill Problem" on the lightburn forum goes into more detail with some pictures for examples of some of these issues with flood fill.

    Why is this not just the default way of doing things? I just did a 48 minute burn that would have been 19 with this turned on.

    Why is this not switched to On by default in the software? What are the downsides?

      I'll look into it and get back to you. I've been away from the laser for a while and am about 2 versions out of touch.

      @@thetinkerverse Alright i checked it. The developer removed that feature due to it's errors on complicated shapes and will put it back after fixation.

    Im noticing in the 0.9.07 version I am unable to do this feature, unless i need to cross hatch but that doesn't make sense either.

      I don't believe LightBurn supports Glowforge. GF comes with it's own custom software as far as I'm aware.

    Here we are about a year after this video. Version 0.9.17 and still no Flood Fill option

    • @thetinkerverse
      @thetinkerverse  4 года назад

      @MadManAz I'm not sure I follow. Flood Fill is there. When you open up the cut settings editor for a layer there is a toggle for Flood Fill on the right side about 2/3 of the way down the window. It's next to the raido button for Fill shapes individually.
