yeah it is; that is an old JAL business class product so it's a bit dated and strange for today's standards. JAL recently unveiled their new business class product to compete with the Room from ANA.
Looks like a whole lot of fun. I flew JAL F this past summer, ANA F The Suite a month ago, I will be flying the new JAL J in May back to the U.S. and then ANA J The Room around Christmas 2024. Japanese airlines are truly something else!
Have taken this flight and the reverse (JL2) in business a couple of times. The 2-3-2 configuration is a little strange. But the beds are very, very comfortable. I’m 6’2” tall, with size 12 feet, and these seats have a footwell that easily accommodates my monsters. In terms of service, JAL, as well as ANA, are top notch. Food selections in JAL business are better than ANA, but in PE and cattle class, ANA is better.
This! We did ANA J (old product since they changed it from HND to NRT for the SFO route) on the way back and it's such a contrast for leg room. Footwells here are awesome.
Hi Sebby! I've been watching asksebby for quite sometime now and I can't thank you enough for all the news and updates. I actually saw you in HND, I really wanted to say hi but was too hesitant since you were waiting for your oversize luggage 🧳 😂 PS I flew Polaris on points thanks to your videos (and many more CC RUclipsrs) 😅
You should say hi! It's actually surprising how small the oversized area is at HND. Literally a giant crowd of people waiting for skis and snowboards lol
✈ The audio on this one was a little less refined but still understandable (I know you can't bring a Shure mic with you everywhere). I've heard JAL business is alright and some prefer ANA. It seems good to me. I feel like you might rate all the food high...but I would do the same lol. Thanks for sharing!!
✈️ I live in Japan (Okinawa) and JAL is my go to airline domestically and international. Domesticly First class is the way to go, or J class to save some money. International, Business class is great, but First is the best if you got the cash or points. Note on the chicken, FamilyMart is the best for chicken 🍗🍗 and coffee ☕️ (much cheaper than Starbucks), then Lawson’s 🍗. 7-11 is the bottom of the barrel for chicken, but they excell in bento selections 🍱. Late night is very hit and miss on options as you discovered. Beer recommendation next time in Japan, Asahi Draft with the pull off lid. It’sa step up from Asahi Super Dry (Still good). All the combini’s have their own specialties. Love watching your postings and a subscriber. Keep up the great work! 👍🏻
@@SebbyFungYou will love FamilyMart “Fami Chicki” (also they have a spicy version as well) is very good but be careful of hot grease on your first and last bite. It can feel like a 3rd degree burn if not. 🤣 They should give you a wet nap on check out, if not ask for one, you will need it! 😉 Enjoy! 👍🏻
✈️ love these type of videos. More plane and hotel reviews would be great. I did however start using transfer partners more aggressively on off peak times and redeemed a flight at almost 9 cpp!
A mix of DJI Pocket 3 (establishing shots / walking / eating) and rest are Sony FX3 with a 14 GM or a 16-35 GM. DJI is perfect if it's bright but struggles with low light due to sensor size.
awesome video as always! we just booked this JAL flight for our 2025 niseko trip, so this is extremely helpful, esp the detailed food reviews! also loved following your PH stories on IG - we're staying there as well! are you planning to do a video on that?
Hey Sebby, I just booked a flight with JAL Business Class from HND to SFO for next year using BA award travel and was wondering how you went about seat selections. Do we just have to wait and get assigned seating from them or can we call to select a seat? Thanks in advance!
✈ You have hinted several times about a sony alternate to bose headsets. I am also big ear'd and prefer over the ear headsets. Can we get a headset review for all the big ear'd out there?
I'm not a fan of beer either. It's either Hibiki or Macallan. I don't rate conbini food above a 5. I prefer JAL or ANA to Asia but trying Zipair next week.
@@SebbyFungOverall good value. LAX to NRT for about $300. Add 3600JPY for a bus from airport to Shinjuku. The lack of food can be an issue. I loaded up at Amex lounge. Then I get the bento and bottle of water 2 hrs into flight. Knowing there was gonna be nothing else for 10 hrs I made sure to eat every grain of rice and drop of sauce.
1 more year of status and then we're probably going to switch over to AA or Alaska. We matched over to Alaska and have been enjoying OneWorld status and the lounges. Happy to go into JL and CX First Class Lounges :) Long-term, might do AA since it's within the realm of our business spend + flights. Might talk more about earning status on the Ask Sebby Business channel if that's useful / relevant :)
HA!, the other half of the Mandy video. Awesome.
🤪
Long time no see. Please keep this channel alive
Will do!
You guys crack me up. "a bit of a creepy walk" at night.
✈️ thanks, love the food review videos!!!!!
🛬"PRO TIP" put your roll on top of your butter, it will melt your butter for better spreading
That 2-3-2 configuration seems really awkward. Good video, thanks for all the work you and Mandy put into your content.
Thanks for watching!

Very nice. Have lots of fun you two and as always keep up the good work with your videos. 👍🏿✌️
Thanks for watching Ras :)
I hope you eventually figured out the divider is powered and controlled on the seat adjustment panel 😳
✈️ great video. I don’t mind the business class seat layout because everyone has access to get out.

very helpful review. by the way your noise canceling did really well on a flight!
Thank you! Some people were actually angry ("I can't even hear the plane!!!!") lol

✈️ This is a timely video as I’m planning a trip to Japan. How did you decide on hotels to stay in? Does Hilton have a decent footprint in Japan? Thx!
There's a Conrad in Tokyo that's really nice. For the transit hotel at the end of the video, we chose whatever was cheap and convenient on hotels.com.

Cool vid. My go to is SQ. Either out of Lax or JFK. Bigger and wider seats hence SQ long laul
Another view! love it. any ideas how long the main lounge is being renovated?
Not sure yet

You can call. The site kept erroring out for me. We were assigned seats at the airport.
✈✈✈
Are you rocking a Daytona watch?
Also, how did you like JAL first class relative to their business class on their 777? Worth waiting and using extra points for their first class?
Yes, worth waiting for F imo :)
Another video about the JAL flight...by Mandy
What month did you go Japan? How is it during the winter. We’re flying HNL-HND JAL Bizz 12/27/24 for NY
We actually prefer winter over summer :) Basically same weather as you'd expect in NYC but winds can be brutal.
This reminds me of Casey neistat
Mandy said there wasn't any Hibiki on this flight? =( lets just open up ur 17 when ur back in SF
No Hibiki :(
Hey Sebby,
For this redemption, which miles did you use and how far ahead were you able to book the flight?
Hey Sebby,
Just wanted to make a second attempt to get your attention on this comment here as I saw you replied back to other comments after mine.
AS and AA miles both work :) Depends on availability on the platforms.
