21:36 I think the reason why the pitching is very unstable is because you have your pitch control on the front of the sub. You should try to put it on the back to make it stable. The same theory applies on why most vehicle have their control surfaces on the back when it comes to aerodynamics/hydrodynamics (just like irl planes, boats, submarines, rockets, etc)
That is correct. The control surfaces on the front makes the vehicle much more agile which is why some fighter planes use it, but it also make the vehicle very unstable and hard to control which is also the reason why only so few planes are designed that way. Essentially is can only be controlled by wire, which means you tell a computer what you want the plane to do and the computer handles the actual steering.
if the pitch was in the back it would be pushing into the ground making it impossible to get off the ground so he could never do the race, if it had a small one in the front and what he had in the front it would work like how you said.

4:16 Hey! That's me on 10th! I had completely forgot I got this high in bionic league! I'm pretty sure this record was not glitch powered*, since I barely can make them work and not at all underwater; it's either one of my up/down or side to side flapping paddles designs or perhaps one of my newer counter rotating bionic propellers designs... though since I forgot about this record it might be the older flapping paddle design (though I do have ADHD so it might also be a fairly recent record). The main difficulty with the bionic league, particularly with this race, is control not speed of propulsion... Since both the (somewhat) plausible servo + aerodynamics based engines I tend to use and the glitch based engines tend to use a lot of space and be somewhat twitchy to borderline uncontrollable and have fairly ridiculous speed, it's really hard to go up and down through the arch and not crash. And in this race in particular, getting starting the race is very difficult since the cockpit needs to be close to the bottom to trigger the race but most most bionic engines really don't tolerate smacking into the ground and they tend to flail about a lot it's really hard to get close enough without exploding as you engage the engine. *edit: actually I'm certain it's not glitch powered since the only glitch I've ever been able to somewhat control is the ufo engine (and by control I mean I managed to stay straight on the drag race like 10% of my attempts) and that wouldn't be bionic league. And since everyone is better than me at driving ufo engines; my personal best isn't even in the top 100s. And the hinge glitch is completely uncontrollable; I've only ever finished the drag race with it once (and it wasn't even a better time than my aerodynamic based cars, since I had to feather the "throttle" a lot to not spin out). I think I've only set a personal best with the UFO glitch in some league on the drag strip and on the centrifuge; and I think I've beat my UFO time with non glitchy bionic engines, anyway. And I never use the no drag glitch in racing because that's neither fun nor particularly easy to control since even fairly slow engines easily go supersonic without any drag.

Well the one that is airtight in space but not watertight underwater can actually make sense. Because the pressure is acting in different directions a cockpit could be designed in a way that it only holds pressure in one direction.
@@mme.veronica735 Not only that, the space fighter cockpit only ever has to keep normal atmospheric pressure but the underwater seats needs to withstand several times that.
@@mme.veronica735 , those reasonings obviously make no sense. Overall, it's possible that a planet that has toxic air conditions for humans to have the same pressure as water, meaning that the reasoning that "you need to keep pressure out instead of in" does not make sense since the outside could have a larger pressure overall. To the question of stability, the drag at the front has to be less than the drag at the back in each direction to avoid continuously steering as the craft tries to fly barrel wise. Like fins on a sub or ship or plane. Trail makers does a lot to automagically make you more stable even for unstable builds but in water and at high speed that drag is a lot.
Ooh goodie, I get to see if scrapman gets faster than 8 seconds exactly! This time I can accurately gage scrapmans insanity. Edit: he went the easy path.
Yes you do need your own oxygen supply in planes, but the big difference is that there is much more pressure on the walls of the vessel underwater as opposed to in the air. Additionally, when you fly high you the inside is pressurized to higher than the outside meaning that the “skin” of your vehicle is trying to expand, vs when you are underwater the outside pressure is more than the inside, meaning that the vehicle is getting crushed. So overall, vehicles made for underwater have to be stronger and use materials that are better in compression, not tension which is what you need for high atmosphere/ space vehicles
22:20 Youre experiencing oversteer. That means your center of drag is ahead of center of mass. It should be opposite for slight understeer. A super effective solution = add a tail that is multiple blocks behind, connected by those rods which dont have aerodynamics

There is a sense of schadenfreude when Scrapman swoops in (and others) with not exploitative or glitched builds and start just wailing on the leader board. It's just that proof of "You can win without contorting the game completely out of shape." There's still come contorting going on with the janked hydrodynamics and stuff adding like 300+ max speed depending whether or not you have them. That's not as much of an exploit as it is a peculiarity of the game that if you don't know, it'll just hurt you. BUT seeing people not only point out glitched first placers and also legitimately challenging and beating them with glitchless and exploitless builds is refreshing.
scrap, just want to say, the plane doesnt have a air tank, but instead takes the oxygen out of the air from little slits in the wings i believe, this also has an effect with the pressure in the plane.(for a passenger jet at least)
Making it shorter should improve your pitch ability. The further the mass is from the point of rotation, the larger it's moment of inertia, requiring more torque / force to get the vehicle rotating. Thus doubling up the engines would help even of you don't get an extra engine. (If this results in uneven layers, make 1 layer have 1 up 1 down, it'll still have symmetrical thrust and weight.)
I'd like to see you see how fast you can do challenges by using logic to program all your inputs. Basically a robot you ride in instead of a vehicle you drive
I think you could have improved your speed by extending the middle wedges by 4 blocks because when I tried to be on the podium in formula league, the small gaps in between the wedges were actually holding my speed back
You might be able to improve your time if you make it more compact. You might be experiencing more water resistance on your turns and pitch because of the longer design.
Can you set up 2 sets of gyros that use different keys? It would take a lot of practice, but set one for fine tune turning, one for heavy turns. That way you can use the fine tuned for normal navigation, and the heavy turning for the tight turns.

I wonder how necessary the Quantum Rudder will be for the hover race
“AH~”

Where is that guy who always says battle with flying tanks😂
i have been watching you since the start of covid now i finally found trailmakers for free now i can also play and express my imaginations!!
21:00 The reason roll is happening is because the yaw gyro is above the center of mass
I love these videos so much, please continue
I just love the race videos, if your comfortable with it keep it up
Try using a seat with a smaller hitbox, maybe you can finish the race before it kicks you out.
Spaceship and sphere cockpit have the same cross-sectional hitbox, don't they?
@@tylerphuoc2653 I meant a not underwater seat
@@PacoTac.o So you think that he can shorten down the time down to like the 3 or 5 seconds it takes to be kicked out completely?
@@tylerphuoc2653 Maybe, he would have a much smaller hitbox
2:44 theoretically for this part you could build a jumping glider
Making it shorter should improve your pitch ability. The further the mass is from the point of rotation, the larger it's moment of inertia, requiring more torque / force to get the vehicle rotating. Thus doubling up the engines would help even of you don't get an extra engine. (If this results in uneven layers, make 1 layer have 1 up 1 down, it'll still have symmetrical thrust and weight.)
I would love to see you attempt the other races as well.
I'd love to see you come back and do these with glitches after you've gotten top 1% on all of them without glitches.
I'd like to see you see how fast you can do challenges by using logic to program all your inputs. Basically a robot you ride in instead of a vehicle you drive
I think you could have improved your speed by extending the middle wedges by 4 blocks because when I tried to be on the podium in formula league, the small gaps in between the wedges were actually holding my speed back
It's a good day when scrapman uploads
Video suggestion: try to make a vehicle able to automatically do a race. (Use logic to make a car or boat to automatically turn through a whole race)
I have made an autonomous boat before
21:08 Who will ScrapMan be tonight, that's the question
Fun fact: the tutorial / instruction vehicle for this race is the sub from the campaign but without the electro magnet.
If they could make events block specific parts like the detaching ones, maybe glitch runs would actually be removed.
When you placed 3rd in the leader boards, you got 4th place in the race somehow 🤣 that doesn't even make sense, who was the 3rd person ahead of you?
You might be able to improve your time if you make it more compact. You might be experiencing more water resistance on your turns and pitch because of the longer design.
Dr Observations sub looked way cooler, you should organize your engines like his.
This is one of my fav races so far in the festival
Can you set up 2 sets of gyros that use different keys? It would take a lot of practice, but set one for fine tune turning, one for heavy turns. That way you can use the fine tuned for normal navigation, and the heavy turning for the tight turns.
