please bro take thses and turn them into a 10 min video
we definitely plan to. we just wanted a bit of feedback on our show before we start making more content. glad you liked it so far
The pancake lenses and real ipd adjustment are the biggest upgrade with the Quest 3 for me. The clarity and being able to look around with your eyes without turning your whole head to stay in the sweet spot. Although I mostly use mine for PCVR and not standalone. The colour passthrough, wifi 6E and processing power were also good upgrades, but less important.
There are downsides compared to the Quest 2 though. Mostly the battery life and comparatively less binocular overlap. Potentially also the different facial interface shape, which may be better or worse depending on the individual (seems to be made for smaller heads).
For sure. I think most people who use the pancake lens don't want to go back. The no sweet spot is really nice for watching movies on a big screen too! Maybe they've improved the Fresnel design though
I mainly play PCVR and I haven't used my Quest 2 in any meaningful way for years. Personally I feel the Valve Index is still rather good for its age. Yeah god rays are a thing and could be mitigated more, but the entire package of the Index is wonderful and works without fuss. Resolution and lenses don't matter to me as long as the headset fits and sits comfortably, which for my tastes, the Index takes the cake on its comfort and its well balanced design evenly distributing the weight of it on my head. While from my experience the Quest has always felt unnecessarily front heavy and the strap to counteract that is an additional cost on top of the cost for the headset, or requires an aftermarket purchase.
Lately I haven't been using my Index at all since I've purchased a Vive Pro Eye, the more tangible feature of the eye tracking and OLED panels (Since I'm a VRChat degenerate) are more appealing than resolution increases and lens type.
Either way, thanks for your guys insight over the headsets and things to come from the industry! Great listen / watch. :)
Quest 2 was not big enough a next step to justify the buy of a new "Quest 3" headset. Mhhhh okay. Id say the passthrough and Mixed Reality did justify the buy alone. But the new and 10x times better lenses, higher resolution, better Tracking (did I miss something) ... ah yes the general more POWER and Visuals in Games especially ... What more do you need for 550 Bucks? And if you sold the Quest 2 in time youd have maybe 350 Bucks in difference to pay ... Maybe if you have many accessoires for the Q2 ... that you also need to replace. I think the accessoires cost me most in the end.
But in general. If someone asks "I have a Quest 2, is a Quest 3 worth it" Id always say "Yes!" The passthrough and MR just make the difference. You can walk through your appartment (house) with that thing on, do stuff like cooking etc. or cleaning ... but still be able to watch videos, surf in the internet etc. priceless.
With a better form factor this would be something Id even wear out in the streets.
Great video, I'm glad to see more Aussie VR fanatics cropping up online.
For your intro you should put your logo in each lens then when the headset is put on they blend into one
🤯 Great idea... to be fair it's a pretty bad intro hahah. thanks
get the prescription lense inserts
Dale is very stubborn and refuses to wear glasses lol. he just wears contacts for far too long and deals with the lack of vision 😂 🤓
Chunks are 16x16 not 20x20
i was like... hmm we're in VR so I'll convert it to metric. then over thought it and tried to calculate the size of a block in VR and as soon as I said 20 I was like "that's the stupidest number I could have picked" lol
27:57
who in their right mind thought about that ? It's the best idea ever if you want to vomit every lunch you had in the past 24 hours within the first 2 minutes.
Those who had that idea clearly never used VR before.
Terrible practices.
Hi, sick vid :)
hi. sick comment
i wanna watch this but it’s so long omfg
Fair this is the podcast so you can listen on YT music or Spotify with it in the background.
Make sure to subscribe because this week I'll be doing shorter news update videos throughout the week.
I still hate the graphics on Meta Quest. They only look like sharp cartoons. I'm waiting till there's an equivalent to Unreal Engine in Quest. Until then, I'll wait.
That's fair. but it might be a while. maybe Batman VR will look great. But PCVR stuff on the quest looks phenomenal! I wish I could play Hellblade 2 without my PC catching on fore
@@victorgreygrey Noted! Thanks.
Contractors? Red Matter 2? Into the Radius? Asgards wrath 2? RE4? Resist, Stride Fates, Hubris, the light brigade, breachers, the seven guest, guardians frontline? Underdogs?
It’s plenty possible with Quest 3.. the issue starts with the developers wanting to design something with that level of detail. Second point. It’s a mobile chip man…
@@ericwheelhouse4371 Yes, it's a mobile chip. Exactly. So there's a constraint as to how much texture and tessellation they can add. Clearly desktop, especially a 4080 gaming PC can show incredible detail. Just need to wait for them to get to that level on the headset. I'll be first in line to buy once they do.
the limitation is > storage < and games losing significant texture fidelity to be kept small. AW1 was 140gb Quest PCVR (and looked gorgeous) AW2 is 30gb, big difference. As Victor says PCVR on Quest is phenominal!
