Your video is really helping me...I love the Santa Cruz..I drove one two years ago at the dealership..and tomorrow my 2024 limited is being delivered..so thanks..!!...wish it had the hologram speed on the front window..I also have a 2022 Sante Fe which I also love driving
Love my Hyundai Santa Cruz I first saw one about 10months ago and knew its whAt I wanted. I’m a 73yo woman getting lots of people asking me about it. My 30something sons love it too. Youve told me a couple things I wasn’t aware of (like locking trunk) so I’m headed out to play with it.
Heck I own one of these (Sage Gray Limited here in the US) and I'm learning some new things - I've messed around with most of these settings already but some of the descriptions aren't 100% clear so this is great info. The no physical buttons is a downside regardless when you do have to adjust something you have to look away from the road - I was sort of used to it having owned a Ford Edge Sport that used the same capacitive touch "buttons" - they weren't as good as these but it's still a downside. Loving my Santa Cruz though and am very happy with the cartruckthing!
Great to hear. I’m undecided between the gray and the light blue but the more I watch videos I’m thinking gray is the way to go. That blue is nice but a little to light in color for a dudes truck I think 🤔
Your not boring and you are better than others. I have picked up 4 sheets of plywood and it was no problem. The guy was laughing but not anymore! All the guys were amazed ! Another secret. Just bounce the rear and it pumps it up ! Very kool
Hi Peat always a day late and a dollar short lol .We drove our Santa Cruz From Chester Va to Cocoa Beach Florida and back! 2 ,236 miles total according to the Trip computer! It got us home ahead of the Hurricane a day before it hit . Our Cruzer now has 19k on it ! I discovered a new trick she will do . Change Dash colors and save them. I Love the Teal green or blue. The more I drive in the more I Love it. But ! I still hate the frinkin phone wires. My 19 Soul Plus didn't need that
Thanks for your kind words. The latest crop of vehicles have a lot of really interesting technology. There's a lot to learn, but I keep telling people that vehicles are headed to a space that cell phones currently occupy. We can both use the exact same phone, but do very different things with them. In this case, few people are going to need to know ALL of what they can do, but you may really value features A through D and I may really value features C through G. So I like to explain as much as I can so that people can see what matters to them and make an informed decision about the vehicles.
NOT boring [22:47] excellent content - in the U.S., was looking at the Ford Maverick, but I think I just changed my mind. Thanks for the content, great job! Now, I wish I could actually even see one in a showroom, they are sold before I can even get in for a test drive in New Hampshire. Reminds me of the Baja from years ago.😀😀 It was on my Christmas list - new subscriber here cheers!
I'm in the US too and I test drove a Maverick a customer ordered but changed their mind on. If you're looking for utility and price, the Maverick is a decent truck. If you haven't already ordered or found a Hybrid Maverick, you won't be able to order one until August 2022. But the technology in the Lariat model seems dated already. I'm telling you this because I searched for a couple months for the perfect truck, which to my standards was a smaller (than a Ram) truck that's good on fuel and optioned well. After much deliberation and many test drives (Ranger; Maverick; I owned a 1st Gen Gladiator), I just bought a Santa Cruz two days ago. No regrets. If you're on the fence, my advice is go for it.
I love my Sage Ultimate ...but I'm still in the camp who wants buttons and knobs in the center stack!! I can live with it, because I loooooooooooooooove this vehicle, but buttons and dials would make me happier. I get why they have it though .. if it was all controlled through physical buttons and knobs, all of the automated software-based controls would be lost. So I accept the trade-off, even if it's not my personal preference. My first thoughts on the 'cube' display were that it's weird. Turns out, it's the one I use all the time now. It's the only mode that gives me a digital speed readout while still being able to use the center of the display to show other vehicle information. I normally leave it on the adaptive cruise display. I find it interesting to see how the ACC spots vehicles and adjusts based on where you set the follow distance. I do still find both dash displays a bit too bright at night. They're fine at night if you're somewhere with street lights, but when you're up in the vast nothingness of NW Ontario in the dark ... they're still quite bright at level 1. I've seen some reviews complain about "wasted space" next to Android Auto/Apple Car Play on the 10.25" display - and that's because the "use split screen" option is off by default. Turn that on and the little side display is actually quite useful. Especially if you're using say Google Maps while listening to SiriusXM/FM/AM radio - it's displayed with your song info on the side. Weather/forecast info, clock, compass with lat/long/elevation ... I really like having all of that stuff there. I wish there was a mini settings screen available on that split too though. That would be sweet. Or that it gave you a way to flip back to Sirius/FM/AM if you are streaming audio from AA/CP. Still have to flip back to the radio display and then back to your phone projection. If it's there while you're listening to the radio, having it there - with your presets - when you're not would be fantastic. Got my winter tires/wheels ordered last weekend, went with 18" wheels since that's what I wanted in the first place. Could not convince the dealer to swap the 18s off their Trend demo for the life of me. LOL Still pretty tough to find rims that fit the specs of the Santa Cruz, and it really doesn't show up anywhere under the "select vehicle" options. If anyone is looking, the pattern is 5x114.3, offset is +49.5, and bore is 67.1mm. That's on an 18x7.5 wheel. Even searching online I could only find a handful, none matching the offset. Should have them next weekend, just in time to beat winter up here. Keep doing what you do, Peter! I always appreciate these videos that go into more than, "There are 7 of these little Easter eggs molded into the trim," reviews. LOL I'm still pretty sure that two weeks in I haven't found or adjusted some of the options. It's really quite extensive. The infotainment "quick reference" (English only ... French version is separate) is a good half-inch thick book. Almost half as thick as the entire owners manual!
Really disappointed we didn't get what you got. My next one I am coming to Canada if it doesn't change! It would be worth it. But ! Can I do that Pete. Rely serious! Love Rusty Clarke

Do you have a part number for the mud flaps on that particular SC? I bought factory ones but they’re WAY too small to keep rocks kicking up on the roads I take daily…I need more protection. Thanks!
I wish I had a dollar for every time someone said it’s a Subaru BRAT. Sigh. Pull up a picture of a BRAT. It looks nothing like it. Besides the BRAT was replaced by the Baja. But nobody remembers the Baja. Non car people just like saying the word BRAT. One legit criticism is Hyundai should have had split fold-down rear seats with a pass-through to the bed. Would’ve eliminated a lot of complaining about the 4’ bed.
Very informative! Wow, I just added a hitch for my motorcycle hauler. I’m so thrilled I won’t have to do anything with the rear shocks to handle a 400lb motorcycle hanging off the back. I didn’t know this before watching this video!
Did you notice the T-Slots next to the tonneau cover rails down both sides of the bed. You can slide the right size bolts in the rails up next to the cab and use them to mount other accessories.
I did notice those, and I pointed them out in a previous video. I'm still waiting to see actual accessories. We know that the tonneau cover can support the weight of 220 lbs, so that should be plenty strong enough for some cross rails and a bike rack or two. I'm actually surprised that I can't find any accessory companies for this. As I begin to see these in use, I'll start to point them out. As of now, there isn't anything to show, so I'm assuming, like you, that they can be used for accessories, but I want to see the rails in use to make a video about how they're being used, and the potential for what we could see in the future.
Interesting. That’s what I didn’t like about the black, I feel like the Black cladding adds to the styling, and you don’t see the contrast as much with the black paint. I bought mine in white, but I know a lot of people who like the Black too!
Been watching these new car videos since you did the new Tucson and have been more eager to get my OMVIC license started the automotive certification course today
I am now getting 34mpg with the Filter You don't need a after market Cold air system with this Vechical Hyundai really did their homework. Love yall Pete
My understanding is that many of the initial units went out with blue letter plates (in Ontario) but that they have changed that to reflect that this is an open bed vehicle, and that they will be equipping these with black letter (truck) plates from now on.
I have a 2022 Santa Cruz Preferred trend and would like to make some of the adjustments you are demonstrating but my menus are not the same as what you show ie vehicle settings. I am in Ontario Canada.
If I buy one from Canada will it offer the different drive modes and terrain modes will it be based on the km system-metric system or can I configure it for the states since That’s where I live
This is a two-part question. I just want to be clear that it's against the franchise agreement for a Canadian dealer to sell a new Hyundai to a U.S. resident, so that may complicate any plan you were thinking. The last thing is, you can customize the dash to show MPH and miles etc. It won't read identical to the U.S. models, because the DIAL will change to MPH but there will be a digital display that will always read KPH in the dial.
@@BrantfordKia had a feeling it would read that way, as for the dealership aspect wouldn’t be an issue I could have a let’s say a Canadian wife/ family member gift it to me. But that dial kills it for me. Hopefully the US eventually gets a updated model with the various drive/ terrain modes
I'm going by memory, but this should get you close... If you go to the centre display screen. Choose SETTINGS, then VEHICLE Settings, then CLUSTER, then THEME (or possibly just THEME) and look for the check box that says "Link to drive mode" make sure that check box is NOT clicked, then CUBE is the 4th option on the list. If that doesn't work, connect with me using the following link, and I'll try to get the exact instructions after taking a look at the vehicle. Here's the link: www.brantfordkia.com/youtube.html
@@BrantfordKia I've only just ordered the car so will be a while until we take delivery. I just wanted to see how it looked in when operating :) I'm going back to the dealership next Thursday so I'll take a look then. Had to cut short our first test drive so missed a lot of things. Thanks for coming back to me... Appreciated.
The bed isn't completely watertight. The rear tailgate seal is a single seal, most seals on a vehicle that are considered watertight are double or triple sealed. Having said that, my bed does stay fairly weathertight in most weather. Heavy rains, or high pressure water can definitely cause some water to get in. The Trunk (under bed storage) should be as watertight as a traditional vehicle's trunk.
I don't know if this is true or not, but I was once told that a system like this has a patent in the U.S. that doesn't apply in Canada. I do think it's a valuable system for sure!
Went to a dealer and they said oh here's $500 off for military BUT since this is high demand we're adding a $2,500 market adjustment to charge you more. I called another dealership in front the sales person they were not doing that BS so the one I was at lost the sale.
I'll be finally getting my drivers license soon, as a bioptic driver because i was born with a visual impairment, and I've been researching the kind of vehicle that i want, and i love love love the look of this vehicle, but I'd like to ask you all, for someone who has a vision impairment, but who has proven to be a safe driver with the use of my bioptic telescope, what vehicle has the best safety features?, of course i want to be over the top safe, for myself, my passengers, and most of all other people on the road. Would you all suggest i can safety operate this santa cruz?, will these safety features be sufficient for me?, if not, what would be the best vehicle?, i really want an suv for the visibility or a compact pickup like this one. Thank you all in advance, I'm excited and nervous all at the same time, to finally be able to drive and have that independence is life changing 😊
It's to bad the user settings can't be tied to the key fobs #1, #2... Like my Lincoln does. REALLY to bad there isn't user 1 / user 2 on the door. I love this truck. I have the limited / USA
@@BrantfordKia I wonder if this could be a firmware update? Setting the driver seat position and mirrors to a user profile seems like a no-brainer. Tying user profiles to fobs 1 and 2 again seems like a no-brainer heading into 2022. I love everything about this vehicle but that oversight annoys me.
@@perilouspursuits692 It seems to be available on some cars that have separate seat memory buttons. It seems to be unavailable on vehicles without memory seats.
Do you happen to know what the manufacturer recommended maintenance schedule is? For example, every 10,000 miles or every year (which ever comes first)?
It's best to check your owner's manual. In Canada we follow the "severe service schedule" which is laid out in the manual, but it may be different where you live.

Does the Homelink allow you to set up different driver's seat position?
how to disable the windows down feature disable on a hyundai santa cruz
Did they add wireless CarPlay to the limited version yet? Or maybe next year?
where is the gas gauge mine shows how many miles left but no gauge
Why Always the Premium or Limited?
Onterio Mills or Canada?
If mills what's your leases looking like for this vehicle?
I begin to understand the 'adventure' branding. I do campsites so I am jealous of the drive system.
what's the best color?
Does the cruz get a car plate or a truck plate.? Thanks
I answered this in further detail on your other similar comment, but yes, truck plates from here on out is my understanding.
Super helpful. Really enjoy your posts.
Thanks for watching!
Is there a tailgate release button in the cabin (like on the fob) ?
No, just on the fob, or on the tailgate.
When is the KIA KIA Truck coming out Please
I've been trying to find the video on the cube dashboard view with no luck, can you advise please?
Appreciated.
does it come with a spare tire?
Great info that I appreciate. Thank you so much. I’ve subscribed!
Awesome! I'm glad you found this helpful. We have a LOT more planned for the Santa Cruz!
How do you display the fuel gauge for fuel level?
Please tell me if it is normal that in heavy rain the inside of the bed gets wet. I was under the impression the bed is water tight.
The Trunk (under bed storage) should be as watertight as a traditional vehicle's trunk.
thanks for sharing this information! This is a very peculiar vehicle that I would like to own.
I bought one and I absolutely love it.
Very good info and greatly explained , thanks
Do a vid on how to do radio pre-sets
Why on earth did Hyundai not give the terrain option to US customers. We get mud and sand in the states too
I don't know if this is true or not, but I was once told that a system like this has a patent in the U.S. that doesn't apply in Canada. I do think it's a valuable system for sure!
Now if I can find a Phantom Black Limited anywhere close that the dealership isnt jacking the MSRP I'll be good to go
Our dealers don't charge over MSRP, but I'm assuming that you're in the U.S.
@@BrantfordKia yep
Went to a dealer and they said oh here's $500 off for military BUT since this is high demand we're adding a $2,500 market adjustment to charge you more. I called another dealership in front the sales person they were not doing that BS so the one I was at lost the sale.
@@chanceoneal1258 We don't charge over MSRP at our dealers! I just want to put that out there for customers who may think that we do this. We don't.
Vem para o Brasil 🇧🇷 Santa Cruz 😍
Is that the Dark Grey interior? It looks lighter than others I have seen.
Extremely useful video! Thanks a lot
You're welcome!
Thank you for the detailed tutorial, very informative.
Will the sand and mud options be available in the US anytime soon?
Unfortunately we don't have access to that kind of information :(
Will there be a manual stick version being offered in a future version of the Santa Cruz?
Not that we know of
It's to bad the user settings can't be tied to the key fobs #1, #2... Like my Lincoln does. REALLY to bad there isn't user 1 / user 2 on the door. I love this truck. I have the limited / USA
Yeah, I would have liked it to be tied to the keyfob too.
When is this coming out as a PHEV?
Do you happen to know what the manufacturer recommended maintenance schedule is? For example, every 10,000 miles or every year (which ever comes first)?
It's best to check your owner's manual. In Canada we follow the "severe service schedule" which is laid out in the manual, but it may be different where you live.
