    2:20 FYI if you're in the market, the lower end models of the Santa Cruz and Tucson you do get physical controls for volume, tuning, and temperature. You get a smaller screen as well but it has wireless carplay/AA.

    I honestly like the "familiar Hyundai" interior. Being that I currently own a 2020 Sonata Limited, this would feel right at home for me because I'm a huge fan of the current Hyundai interiors. However, I'm definitely not a fan of the touch controls for the climate and volume. And for the price I think it should come with the same features of the Santa Fe. But in all I think this is a pretty attractive offering. I believe this is the same or similar drivetrain to the Sonata N-Line, so a tune would give this thing a nice kick.

      I swear almost all manufacturers' interior's gonna be touch control. That helps cost cutting by reducing physical buttons. That sucks but reality.

    A constructive criticism if I may as a fan of the channel, though it applies to other car reviewers, as well. Is it just me, or does anyone else think that “special” is becoming one of the most vague, overused buzzwords in car reviews now? I feel like it’s been thrown around so much now that it just lacks meaning. With the Santa Cruz, when you say the interior doesn’t feel as “special” as the Maverick, what specifically do you mean by that? What do you wish Hyundai had changed vs the Tucson? Material choices? Colors? Design? Utility? Would love for you to elaborate further on that in future Santa Cruz videos.

    • @Ezero8

  • @BoopSnoot
    @BoopSnoot 2 года назад +9

    I can fix the Santa Cruz: 1) Eliminate the base NA 2.5 engine and replace it with their 1.6T hybrid from the Tucson 2) Allow either engine choice in any trim SE/SEL/Premium/Limited 3) Limited for the price needs to include ALL of the features of the Limtied Tucson such as remote parking assist and memory seats 4) Eliminate the silver trim, make the black chrome standard

    • @budapest1002
      @budapest1002 2 года назад

      I only disagree with 1 point of taking away the base 2.5 N/A to add the 1.6. I would just add the 1.6 and let the SC have 3 engine options😅.

  • @jakes5530
    @jakes5530 2 года назад +4

    I explored one of these at my local dealership and really wanted to like it. I'm also 5'10 and I found the backseat very tight and the seating position uncomfortably upright. With the rear seats flipped up, there's really not a ton of usable space to put stuff due to the middle floor hump and intrusive cargo bins under the seats. Additionally, the 'trunk' is much too shallow to be practical, unlike the Ridgeline which you can put a week's worth of shopping in. I also found the bed hard to reach into, the bedwalls are surprisingly tall for such a small vehicle, so it's nowhere near as easy to access as the lower to the ground Maverick, or the Ridgeline with the side swinging tailgate. Additionally, the lack of physical buttons on Hyundai's generally excellent infotainment is an unfortunate mistake. Lastly, the fact they put a DCT in this was a poor decision -- it may make it more fun to drive enthusiastically, but it's a "truck" so for towing/hauling and longterm longevity, Hyundai's single clutch (excellent) 8-speed wouldve been much better. Overall, for my use, Id take the Ridgeline 7 days out of the week.

      I don't think you really wanted to like it. I have owned the limited for 5 months and love it. I bought this because I am a homeowner and do not need a larger truck and hate getting our SUV dirty when doing weekend jobs. I prefer no knobs on the radio so that is a plus for me. The Santa Cruz is fun to drive and faster than most trucks and cars in that price range. Also, I am 6'2 and didn't have an issue sitting in the back. Would I want to go on a 10-hour road trip? No, but driving around town would not be an issue. My 9 year old son and his friends have plenty of room

    I would stay away from any Hyundai product like the plague.. In my experience the only thing worse than the reliability of Hyundai is the way Hyundai treats their customers. I own a 2017 Hyundai Sonata PHEV, which experienced hybrid system failure on i95 (nearly causing an accident) on Aug 31, 2021. Two months later, during which time the Hyundai dealer made two unsuccessful repair attempts, I picked up my car only to have Hybrid system failure occur for the third time before I even made it to the first traffic light. The service center then told me the car (under warranty) needs a new battery pack, which I have been waiting for over the past FIVE months. The car has been out of service for SEVEN months and Hyundai has refused all buyback attempts. I bought a new Rav4 Prime in Feb…..If I ever get my Hyundai back it will be sold..
