A neighbor said my little 5 watt radio interfered with his landline phone and dial-up internet! I told him to report me to the FCC. They sent him a registered letter on how he can fix his Part 15 registered equipment. He never talked to me again... :D
I really like your story!! After I met, married and moved in with my xyl she called one of the neighbors and told them if they had interference it was probably me. I tried to stop her but it was too late; I carefully explained to her afterwards that she should NEVER do that. Didn't happen again, thankfully. Never have had complaints.
you know you are a lid when you take an amplified microphone into a speech processor driving three 8877's with an SB220 calling "CQ dawg x-ray" for 10 minutes straight
Glad you like the video. XYL and I conspired, er collaborated to make all of our videos, as she's a great and inventive songwriter but didn't know the Ham Radio lingo and concepts. Hope you've seen our other funny Ham Radio music videos. While we had a ball making the videos, lets just say we had our "creative differences". Hope your viewers enjoyed it, and thanks for promoting it. Looking forward to you posting today's show, so, of course, subscribed. Don't know if you noticed, but on my channel we simulcast our twice-weekly Simplex Nets from Middle TN.
@@braintrusts I think the production quality was exceptionally well done. Great work. Very funny! I’ll take a look at others. Brilliant work mate! Larry
I have to ask because I’m actually going to see if anyone on my channel can guess the radio that was featured in this video. I know it’s been a long time since you produced this… What radio was it? Thank you so much… It certainly got a lot of laughs here! Larry de K7HN
Whoops, I just realized that I clicked on the like button when the video had exactly 73 favs. Sorry to spoil such a good number folks, but at least try and get it up to 88, OK? ;) Thanks for the FB video, de R2DBE here ;) hope to hear you all on the air someday :)
I've used 3k watts on psk31, heck I use full max power everything everytime, I like to be heard on the 5/5 everytime I grab the mic and make them tubes sing.
+orange70383 Am pretty sure you meant to say 300 watts (3k = 3000 watts), yet the intent of PSK31 and other digital modes (as well as all Ham modes) is to use the least power necessary to get heard. I have worked the world on PSK31 on less than 30 watts and often on 5 watts. To use too much power will, as they say, splatter the band and cause problems for others. I know, because I've accidentally done it.
+orange70383 To be clear, there are indeed nuts out there who do errant things in Ham Radio, and it is often difficult to weed out the sarcasm from the nuts. And, your profile on RUclips didn't give me any clues as to your assumed nuttiness, lol. Glad you cleared that up for me, and appreciate your patience with my foggy-headed reply to what "should" have been clearly tongue-in-cheek.
This video reminds me of few years ago of a HF net held weekly in the morning of hams in Calif, Oregon, and Wash. states. It was said never never mention a certain political topic otherwise this guy will start on his diatribe for 45 minutes. Yes, 3/4 of an hour continually transmitting on a HF amateur radio freq giving everyone to hear what he really thinks. And of course such action is no longer ham radio but broadcasting. Amusing video.
+k6mfw Long-winded Ham Operators tend to kill nets, whether HF or otherwise. As we are to be self-policing, it would seem that we'd take these folks to task, but alas, they seem to always be around. (Perhaps they should be relegated to JT-65 mode) We had fun making this video, as there are lot of well-meaning Hams who simply annoy others..... kind of like real life!! Thanks for your comment!!

Yep, like the guy I knew who figured that 1000 watts input was for "other" people. He'd run 2 kw or more on VHF
