@GBRS I'm trying to convince our department to let us use the risers for our optics. Their argument is "it's an aftermarket part". Well no shit. So are the optics we use. The tac lights. The forgrips. The slings.... IF you can provide some input as to the benefits, and even some cons you've come across so I can take them to the next board meeting, I would appreciate it! Great video as always!
I got a Unity riser with EOTECH. The immediate benefit is not “searching” for the reticle. My Peltors got in the way and I could never get good/quick sight picture. With the riser it’s simply easier to bring the sight to my eye as opposed to leaning my head. I do cqb for work and the riser is money.
If you are LEO, there's multiple things, first of all their are just more comfortable to aim with, and I would say faster too. If you wear any type of helmet or headsets using the riser avoids any type of problems with hits, also it solves problems when shooting in certain poses. Also it's really nice for passive aiming with NVG's, or to use when you have a gas mask. Aiming without a raiser with a gas mask is a pain in the ass.
@2:33 For me, I have found that a Geissele Super 42 (3 strand braided wire) buffer spring with a pistol caliber buffer weight (at 5.5 oz) in tandem with a YHM brake (forgot that name of it) works really well.
What about the BCM do you love so much? I’ve never run one of their carbines, but I built an 11.5” 5.56 with one of their lightweight, tapered, fluted barrels. Makes the balance on that gun AMAZING.
It's not a BCM, it's essentially BCM furniture with a PR barrel. BCM is known for having durable shit that is trusted by a lot of professionals, and as their company has grown you will see that error rate a bit more clearly as more people will end up with QC failures (it's basic statistics) but for the one's that run, they run like hell. I got mine last year, and it felt very simple to put it on paper get it dialed in and send rounds where they needed to go even with 55g reman.
Garandthumb made the point that BCM is the best cost to performance ratio and anything more top tier than that you start getting into diminishing returns, which seems like a valid point to me. Seems to be the cheapest of the top-tier (Daniel Defense, LMT, Knights armament, sons of liberty gunworks)
I Like 30 inch Dimpled inch thick Bull Barrel Chrome lined Carbon Fiber uppers with JP Compensator and light weight buffer with full auto lower and RUAG 198 Grain A.P. with 100,000 Lumen spotlight and also a Tripod and remote trigger system. Great for alley and intersection denial.

The rds was knocked a bit off zero but it was the Vortex supplied mount being bent a bit & not the dot itself . Been looking at the Unity and Skalar mounts . The Vortex Crossfire rds is gtg
Any durability pros with both optics and their mounts?
@@ericsersch5675 Both the rds systems have been fantastic . Also both the Aimpoint and Vortex mounts are great for absolute co-witness or 1/3rd . The Aimpoint PRO mount is robust and tough but the Vortex mount while lite weight can be bent as mine was after a good 10ft drop . I'm replacing my Vortex Crossfire mount with an American defense mount . My 2 Aimpoint PRO mounts will stay the same unless a really good deal comes along on something lighter & qd

Question on the Silencer model, CGS Helios QD ? Curious to see there is a response to this question 🤔 or if it gets lost in the sauce!
Love the 2nd dudes simple lower receiver setup for being a lefty. People simp over the BS ambi lowers but all you really need is a bad lever and ambi mag release. I’ve been trying/saying this for a while and it’s helped me more than the best ambi lowers!
Love it . Hope you’re doing well DJ.

Awesome set up what is your preference for your zero on this gun?
Excellent presentation and valuable input! Thanks for sharing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
would be interesting to mount the laser on a half-inch riser mounted in front of the aimpoint - that way your thumb clears the laser and you can c-clamp all the way forward
Apparently, you and Christian Craighead STOLE MY IDEA! :P
Im enjoying the content across the channels, great work. Ima check out that sling swivel.
This guy is a living legend, if you know then you know 👍🏻
Idk how many time iv watch this video this year I need more of Dj’s gun set up and are magnifiers really needed ?
@@dmoneyas24 yep unity riser with EXPS3 on my work gun. It’s awesome.
@@victorland2426 i hated shooting with a mask. Especially prone. Thanks for the input

@2:33 For me, I have found that a Geissele Super 42 (3 strand braided wire) buffer spring with a pistol caliber buffer weight (at 5.5 oz) in tandem with a YHM brake (forgot that name of it) works really well.
I run the same with a smith enterprise vortex flash suppressor. No recoil
Jesus Christ. Just pick up a gun and be able to shoot it.
Sprinco red spring,h3 buffer and YHM Phantom Q.D. Muzzle Brake I have on my 10.5 it’s the best set up I have.
Please tell what your favorite muzzle break of "all time" is? You've peaked my interest!
I Like 30 inch Dimpled inch thick Bull Barrel Chrome lined Carbon Fiber uppers with JP Compensator and light weight buffer with full auto lower and RUAG 198 Grain A.P. with
100,000 Lumen spotlight and also a Tripod and remote trigger system.
Great for alley and intersection denial.
@@BezmenovDisciple can’t quite remember but I think it was his “favourite SBR barrel length” video.

Did he spray his AR with a light coat of bronze paint?? Looks sick.
Pistol setups next! Also, running the vortex crossfire? How has it held up? I’ve got one on my 11.5 carbine as well and it’s held up, but I’m sure I haven’t given it the hell you guys have.

The more you learn about firearm setups and pistols and rifles and real people who have been through real situations, the more you learn everything is about simplicity and what will cause the lease issues and what will be the easiest to use, not what has the most bells and whistles.
