The 392 is optimized to a high degree from the factory which makes getting gains from it harder. All the original stuff is hard to improve but the cam has really mild timing events. Having said that, I'm a firm believer in custom ground cams. The heads flow, the manifolds flow, all it really needs is more inside action and a tune.
It is optimized for what it is but it's not hard to hey power out of it but to do that you have to turn it into a 426 stroker motor. Now that being said that 392 will make a ton of power if you forge the internals and build it from the bottom up. But any motor will.do that basically. It's just the reason these engines don't take boost verynwell on stock internals is because they run cheap ass H-beams and hyperutectic pistons. Which are trash. I personally would also go to a holly hi-ram intake manifold and probably go to edlebrock heads that I would have ported and polished to flow even more. Upgrade the the valve train and a maybe either a custom grind or even just a Max effort cam and your gonna be making around 580hp to the crank or better. But all engines can be built better. I prefer the hemi because I'm a huge Mopar fan but I'm a full just Car guy in general so to me I like the Camaro and the Stang just wish the manufacturer didn't make the new Dark horse so hard to tune. They trying to put the aftermarket out of business.

Next to long tubes & wider wheels, the Barton shifter is by far the best mod I've done to my Chally. I just dunno why I waited 5 years to do it! 🤦♂️ So glad that I finally did, cuz the price for them has gone through the roof now at $600! The first mods for any of the manual Chally's should be as follows: wider wheels/tires, skip-shift eliminator, & then the Barton shifter. You could go with a Hurst shifter; but for as much of an improvement it is over the factory shifter, the Barton is that much of an improvement over the Hurst. ✌🏼🤙🏼
@@DKLabs99 I had to do it, cuz it kept blocking it 2nd gear on a hard takeoff. I found myself fighting the damn thing anytime I pushed 1st gear anywhere above 5k RPM. I learned an expensive lesson in Florida running a similar exhaust system. Here's the Florida law in modified exhaust. No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle or any other noise-abatement device of a motor vehicle operated or to be operated upon the highways of this state in such a manner that the noise emitted by the motor vehicle is above that emitted by the vehicle as originally manufactured.
