I'll add my two cents on the clip on mic 😅 For me, watching your vlogs is like chilling with a friend for a while, and so the visual of the mic kind of breaks that feeling. I went to school for audio technology, and those little mics are FANTASTIC for interview settings, isolating actors' voices onstage, or picking up one sound in an otherwise lound environment. Your normal camera mic also picks up a little ambient sound, which means you sound natural in your space, which (in my opinion) is a good fit for the causal, natural feeling of your vlogs. Thanks for making these videos so we can hang out with you! 🥰
Ok I totally feel this!! I honestly honestly just don’t love the sound of the mic anyway. I think I will use it when it would make sense too, but probably won’t use it super often!
You talking to us from the freezer made me giggle. Idk what it was about this video but I loved it so much. Thanks for getting me through my 30 minute treadmill jog!!
Honestly the kitchen saga with the wireless mic was so fun to watch as you bopped around the house gathering your crockpot meal ingredients. Loved your sound effects and hearing your inner monologue. 😂I just love your personality 😌
You know, you've become the only RUclipsr whose videos i watch all of (and i used to watch ALL the big names). You're the one person whose content just... Genuinely brings me joy. Thank you for all you do. ❤❤
I watch your videos all of the time but you were especially relatable in this. The honesty and transparency about your home, (arguably) neurotic tendencies, and things that stress you out was so refreshing.
Through the years I have subscribed to many RUclipsrs. Today this is my only subscription that I watch every video. You and your family exude a positive energy through the videos that’s so refreshing to watch. ❤
Ever since Covid began, I got up at my normal time I would get up if I was going into the office. I showered, did the hair and makeup, even put jewelry and perfume on. I didn’t want to stray from my normal, everyday work routine because I knew if I did, I would start slacking. We are back at work a few days a week, but I still stick with this routine. It works for me. I also won’t work in pajamas. I just can’t do it. 😂
I totally relate. When I go on a cruise I pack SO many meds. For adults for kids…just in case. I sometimes think I over do it , but inevitably someone asks for something obscure and I have it. That only fuels my need to “prepare” for any eventually. 😆
Same here - used to have everything in the house for potential sickness. Now I just keep the basics bandaids, tylenol, benadryl, sudafed. Anything else I’ll go buy on an as-needed basis in a small quantity. A huge impact on expiring crap in the cabinets!!
Jess, I am so grateful for your vlogs. I just moved to a different state and watching you is so comforting. Also, the jazzy background music you use reminds me so much of Christmas and vlogmas and I suddenly cannot wait for the tiny Tylers again! 💚❤️
Having multiple thermometers and not trusting any of them is the most relatable thing for me as a mom. And the Barbie shoes everywhere comment, I cackled. 😂 ❤❤
The mic you used in the kitchen sounded cheap and bad quality on my phone but when i switched to my tv it sounded super clear. How weird. Loved this video !!!
You keep stuff in fear of the zombie apocalypse too!?!? That makes me feel so much better. I have quite the collection… i hope i’ll never have to guard it with a shotgun 😂😂😂 jk!
Meds don’t really expire except real aspirin and tetracycline. They may lose a slight bit of effectiveness as they age, but they’re totally fine and safe. The military tested super old meds (20+ years old) and found them to be as or near as effective as new.
I keep my medicine cabinet in my kitchen too. Haha My mom always kept the medicine cabinet in the highest cabinet of the kitchen. She needed a stool to reach it. Lol
I love this style of video.....I love all your videos. I love how you go through your days and tackle all the normal life/family things that we all do. It's like having a conversation with a good friend.
😂 when I listened to you describe the closet situation in that bedroom, all I could think of was Monica’s closet. You might be too young, but on friends Monica was always the neat one, but she had a secret closet that held everything.
I had a bad crash on my E-bike on Sunday in a gross PA Abandoned Turnpike Graffiti tunnel. I was very lucky that I didn't get hurt worse than I did. I was thankful that my tetanus shot is current. In our group was a Mom with 2 young kids. She was super prepared for anything. She had a blanket down for me to sit on & had water, antibacterial wipes, Bactine, Aquiphor, big Bandaids, Tylenol, etc. Helped me tremendously. I keep a first aid container like you at home. It was nice to not have to immediately run to the store for things. Though I did run out of the big ones for my road rash, cut, & banged up knee. Had to get more the next day. Anyway, I keep vitamins & supplements in the kitchen.
I live alone so I am a light prepper as far as 1st aid stuff. Never hoarding but ready. If I’m sick there’s no one to help. I’ve had to hop/crawl to get crutches from my closet after I tripped on the stairs & minutes between stomach flu “ejections” to grab water & meds to survive the next onslaught. I fell & skinned my knee to the point it needed to change the band-aid/gauze regularly. I can’t risk not having something. Do things go to waste? Sadly yes. Would I have paid 1000% the cost when I legit needed it but didn’t have it? Also yes. I’ve learned over the years what I use most often & what I don’t which has cut down in waste. Get travel sizes of rarely used vs full sized of common things. All the bandaids & sizes since they rarely die. I give 1st aid as gifts it’s helped me so much to be prepared. Guess I’m clumsy. I also live in earthquake country so it could be days before help comes in an emergency. Plus the pandemic showed that there could be supply chain issues or other limitations to you just going out & getting it or having it delivered. I need to have 1st aid stuff on hand so I can sleep at night. I can’t imagine my brain about this if I had kids. But that’s just me.
Making myself a latte, getting dressed and doing my makeup has become a barometer for how my mental health is doing as well as rare protected time that is just for me. I don't often have time and energy for art or crafts, but at least I get my daily time with brushes and colours, even if it's my face and not paper :)
Hi Jessica and family!😊 Just an FYI, take it for what you will. I always like to have everything especially medication like allergy, Neosporin, Aquafor, nausea med, and so on you get the point. I worked in the medical field for 29 years. Med is just like some canned food or I’m sure you have makeup you have had for a long time. Most of the items are still good. We use to go to other countries with our doctors and we would save the supposedly out of date ( exp) meds that we as a company had to through away but the physics said they were fine so we would pack them up for the people we were doing mission work. I have things like Advil or Tylenol that maybe be out of date for 6mo to a year. They are perfectly fine. Take from this your judgement, but I hate to see people waste their money when they don’t have to. At the very least it might not be as potent as it was exactly but it definitely still works. You have to use your judgement or call your doctor. Obviously not antibiotics or maybe eye drops but in general these items are fine. It’s just what I learned and wanted to share. But yes, I am definitely the kind of mom that has extra toothbrush heads, soap, laundry detergent, extra water bottles ( we have hurricanes) so we have to be prepared. It’s so nice when you have children and don’t have to order delivery or run out of the house if your children or you are sick. I love all the helpful info you have given to all of us over the years and I sure appreciate all of yours and Tyler’s videos. God bless and thank you, again!!!!
So funny about the Five Star notebooks. I always wanted them as well but rarely ever even had regular, loose leaf paper. 😅 So buying them and all the other “fancy” school supplies for my kids makes me even more happy. 🥰
I do skincare and makeup every morning unless I'm sick. I have productive days that way but I also just feel better because I definitely look better (😅). You never know who you'll meet along the way when walking the dog. ☺️
Not me sipping my coffee looking at the piles of pens on my table and watching you go spastic squirrel on the kitchen drawer 😂. I genuinely love your channel ✨️.
Ive had a horrible few days having family problems and work being so tough, I just sat down finally to rest and I go on youtube and I see you posted a video and I swear to you, seeing your videos is like a breath of fresh air, THANK YOU @itsjessicabraun
I love that shampoo and conditioner. I have been using it for a while now and when I went to the hair stylist, she asked me what I have been doing differently. Apparently, my hair was healthier and had a lot of new growth.
CVS is my jam! I never shopped there until my best friend from New Jersey would go "shopping" there. For basically everything... milk, baby wipes, paper towels, wine. But it's when I found the extra bucks that I got hooked! Best drugstore makeup section too! Thanks for partnering with CVS!
My kids are all in high school & I've had a magnetic white board calendar on my fridge since they were in daycare. Everyone in the family sees it every single day & everyone writes on it. Something you & Tyler could start & the girls can pitch in as they grow!
OMG The music you used to transition from the CVS part to you putting stuff away reminded me of Vlogmas! Can’t wait until then!!! ( thanks, I know how hard Vlogmas is 😉)
the umami blend is great on avocado toast and amazon sells silicone covers for the fire remote that glow in the dark and have a strap so it’s harder to lose.
We have a skylight and we LOVE it, and we don’t even have kids! Learned about it from my SIL who has 4 kiddos. Chores organized, each kid is color coded, and they have meal planning features now. Worth it.
We live in a pretty rural area. We have a Walmart, but that’s it. I always have our med cabinet stocked but definitely have had issues keeping things within the expiry date. But when I’m feeling poopy I don’t want to have to go to the store to get the thing to make me feel less icky! It’s a real struggle…
Meds don’t really expire except real aspirin and tetracycline. They may lose a slight bit of effectiveness as they age, but they’re totally fine and safe. The military tested super old meds (20+ years old) and found them to be as or near as effective as new.
Hi Jess! Your audio always sounds good, but it was fun to see you bop around the kitchen, it felt like I was hanging out with you while you were cooking. I wish you and Tyler had an old-school cooking show!
I agree. I get ready every single day regardless of what I have going on. I always tell my daughters “If you’re always ready, you never have to get ready.” So at any point I need to run out of the house or someone comes over or whatever, I’m ready 👍🏼. I also agree that if you’re dressed and ready, you are more productive. I got ready every day of maternity leave with each of my three daughters just so I felt like I was a normal human being. I can’t think of a time I have stayed in pajamas or messy hair unless I was really really sick. Anyway, agree 100%!
I LOVE that hair wax stick you have recommended in the past. I bought it just because I often pull my hair slicked back for work and hate all the fly aways. So THANKS for mentioning it because my hair looks so much more "finished" now, using that wax. XO!
We use the ikea SKADIS extra large pegboard. Keys, sunglasses, pens, bits of random paper, family calendar. This thing holds everything and the containers you buy separately can be moved around and customised. So good 👍
I saw someone on IG add in a junk door on the side of a cabinet (basically a 4 inch deep addition to the cabinet.) They had a cork board for important flyers, a spot to hang extra keys, a catchall for storing other papers) -- it looked so cool!
I really enjoy the Firework mascara. Sky high is tough to beat for me. My fave is using them together right now! You’re like my local internet bestie-fellow circle city gal here!❤
Love your chit chatting lol. No, I do not stock up because of what you said, I can run and get what I need pretty quickly and things expire. Also, yes I keep our medicines and such in our kitchen. It’s funny hearing how everyone else runs their household! Things we do without thinking don’t even enter another person’s mind. That’s why I love watching vlogs.
I like to have everything I need before I need it. I don’t live and die by expiration dates, especially if it’s never been opened (At worst, it’s just not going to work. It’s not like it turns to poison or anything. 😆) . But I do see your point.
Per the vitamin / first aid supplies conversation: I always keep vitamins in the kitchen. I'm generally in the kitchen so it makes sense to the vitamins there. Otherwise I'm liable to forget to take them or dole them out. I also like to keep my children's medicines in the kitchen in a little bin. I do like to have the basics, like cough and cold medicine, Benadryl, ibuprofen and Tylenol. Those are things you just don't want to be out of and I can't count how many times it's been late at night that my son has suddenly complained of a sore throat or started to cough. Not a convenient time to run out to Walgreens. Plus, if you have a sick child, you don't want to haul them along with you to the drugstore and sometimes that's the only option if you're home alone with them. I find that just having one bottle of each of these things means I don't let them expire, and even if they don't get used up completely before expiring, I take comfort in the fact that I have them at hand and that I have had very little waste. It's just a peace of mind thing for me and also convenient.
After you mentioned EL double wear in another video(which I love even though I have dry skin) I realized I finally found a foundation twin! I love using the crockpot and instant pot.
I’m a sahm and I get dressed everyday. Mostly workout clothes while I lose my baby weight. I don’t wear a full face everyday, but as long as I have mascara and brows eyes feel open and I feel awake.
I keep my meds in my bedroom (we do not have little children) my husband keeps his in the kitchen. I also keep bandaids, antibiotic cream, rubbing alcohol, but not a lot of OTC medications cause we can buy meds as we need them.
Retired nurse here, I always keep certain meds because my daughter had chronic ear infections and she either has a fever or would be vomiting at 2 a.m. also when we travel not every country carries the meds you need or are use to having
Idea for weekly lunch menus - put a removable hook on an inside cabinet or your pantry door (I prefer this because you can store other calendars too and they are all in the same spot. You also keep school water bottles (cut a door shoe holder in half to also store them on the door) and their lunch boxes in the same area so both things triggers you to look at the lunch menu. For memberships - take advantage of member events!!!!!!!! They are built in dates to use the membership and some are quite cool (Chicago’s Field Museum you go behind scenes and see departments you don’t normally get to see. It’s one of my favorites!) Beginning of the year, make a general plan to see pockets of availability and schedule visits to get it in the calendar. Finally, pick one place a year and break it into sections to explore things you normally walk by.
This was the most relatable video for me! Literally same for - not trusting thermometers, expired unopened medicine, not knowing what to do with the school calendar, dump and go croc pot meals, a dreaded closet, wondering when I last washed the blankets 😅 we are all the same lol!
You're describing the Boy Scout mentality (always be prepared). Backpacking has made me feel less like I need to stockpile stuff. I have some things I always have: biofreeze, advil, Tylenol (only pain med my husband can take), Excedrin migraine (doubles as Midol/Pamprin), benadryl (both husband and I have acute allergy issues), and Zyrtec. And yes we definitely keep medicines/vitamins in our kitchen. We also have medication for our dogs, so they all live on the same shelf In our kitchen.
We keep all our medicine, thermometers & syringes in the kitchen. We keep the bandaids & rubbing alcohol in our linen closet. I keep all my vitamins in the bottom drawer of my nightstand so I can refill my weekly pill organizer while I'm getting ready for bed.
I have enough for the neighborhood stored in the kitchen, above the microwave. Our junk drawer is similar to yours, minus the Barbie shoes. Thanks for yet another feel good, inspirational vlog. Love me some Jessica Braun ❤ Oh, mic was fine 😅
I make a fake out chicken pot pie, very similar but quicker! Use a big pan and add shredded or cut up rotisserie chicken (I like Costco’s), frozen mixed veggies, cream of chicken soup and a little milk. I eyeball the milk, just enough to thin the soup a little. Add some dried herbs, heat it up until the veggies are cooked. It’s done before the biscuits are out of the oven. So easy and delicious.
The mosquito bug bite thing tool I thought was a gimmick but it totally works and immediate relief after getting bit, even up to a day or 2 after getting a bite I’ve used it and it worked wonders. Cheaper than buying the zit patches over the long run. My local Target had it. 👌🏻
In texas we have a layer of bugs that live under the grass between the soil. Alot of times it's red ants. I've put pimple patches on those bites and it helps.
As far as meds and stuff are concerned, we have big things of any stuff we use somewhat frequently (tylenol/ibuprofen/nyquil/dayquil/pepto). But most other stuff we buy the minis (especially for ointments) that way we have it if we need it but we dont have a lot of stuff going bad
I love that recipe. My family and I all love it. To make it even easier, sometimes I cheat and use the mini hashbrowns that are already cubed as my “potatoes “ :)
On the medication stock-up. For important things, such as my two asthma meds, I do stay stocked at all times, even when I haven't had a flare up. I have had to toss expired ones for lack of use at times, but when I need it, I need it NOW and there is no time to get a refill, etc. Not so much for ointments, creams, Tylenol, etc. As you said, those are easily available, and most of those items aren't going to create an emergency situation by not having it on the spot. I keep what we generally use each day, but not an overstock or "just in case" items. Maybe more so when our kids were small and there wasn't fast delivery available. Also, I thought the sound of the mic was fine 🙂

The sound when doing the crockpot recipe worked great. Volume and quality was just great IMO. Always enjoy your vlogs.
I love your blouse! The burgundy T-shirt is the vibe I roll with too. Also, the necklace is perfect with it. So cute!

I love the microphone! Your thought stream as you spoke wondering if we could still hear you was incredible.
A good thing to keep on hand for first aid - a bottle of Afrin or the generic equivalent. It will stop a nose bleed quickly.

This was so entertaining because of being so relatable - I need to organise my own drawers now 😄
I loved the way you recorded while cooking and chatting! The mic was also great! Especially you asking if we can still hear you 😂
We have a skylight and we LOVE it, and we don’t even have kids!
The wonky doors and thermometers conversation is so relatable! I would love new doors but don’t want to deal with it either 🙃
The more flavorful way to say this is, “you don’t gotta get ready if you stay ready!!”
Yes so true. I 100% agree with you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I should 100% do this. But I don’t.
Your hair and that color shirt at the end of the vlog, looks so good on you!
I am loving the recipe recommendations!! Especially the crockpot ones!! Haha
I LOVE that hair wax stick you have recommended in the past. I bought it just because I often pull my hair slicked back for work and hate all the fly aways. So THANKS for mentioning it because my hair looks so much more "finished" now, using that wax. XO!
A really good chicken pot pie are the ones at Costco! They’re the fresh ones you just throw in the oven.
We use the ikea SKADIS extra large pegboard. Keys, sunglasses, pens, bits of random paper, family calendar. This thing holds everything and the containers you buy separately can be moved around and customised. So good 👍
This hair color on you is sooooo beautiful!!
I saw someone on IG add in a junk door on the side of a cabinet (basically a 4 inch deep addition to the cabinet.) They had a cork board for important flyers, a spot to hang extra keys, a catchall for storing other papers) -- it looked so cool!
We love our umami seasoning! It is a staple for when we make hibachi on our flat-top grill.
I’m about to make this crockpot recipe! Thanks Jess!
Love this so much Jess! Thank you for sharing. Love you girl! The score of this video was very classy if might say. Higs❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love this, it’s so nice to do chores with my “friend” 😊
Yes growing we always kept the vitamins and the pain medicines in the kitchen lined up on the counter.
You being productive made me be productive! So thank you! Also, don't know last time I washed the couch blankets 😬
After you mentioned EL double wear in another video(which I love even though I have dry skin) I realized I finally found a foundation twin! I love using the crockpot and instant pot.
You're the only one who I'll watch clean drawers out! 😂
One of my favorite videos from you
Retired nurse here, I always keep certain meds because my daughter had chronic ear infections and she either has a fever or would be vomiting at 2 a.m. also when we travel not every country carries the meds you need or are use to having
Heritage hair mask truly smells amazing!spa like! Shampoo and conditioner great for dry hair, leave in conditioner really light weight but good.
This was the most relatable video for me! Literally same for - not trusting thermometers, expired unopened medicine, not knowing what to do with the school calendar, dump and go croc pot meals, a dreaded closet, wondering when I last washed the blankets 😅 we are all the same lol!
😂😂 I love knowing I’m not alone
You’ve inspired me to tackle our “junk drawer”🎉
There is a great chicken pot pie you make in a casserole dish......soooo good
Literally made the crockpot pot pie today! Big hit over here!! 😊
I've been reading a post apocalyptic book and it's totally solidified my need to have a stash of everything medical lol
I have enough for the neighborhood stored in the kitchen, above the microwave. Our junk drawer is similar to yours, minus the Barbie shoes.
Thanks for yet another feel good, inspirational vlog. Love me some Jessica Braun ❤
Oh, mic was fine 😅
I make a fake out chicken pot pie, very similar but quicker! Use a big pan and add shredded or cut up rotisserie chicken (I like Costco’s), frozen mixed veggies, cream of chicken soup and a little milk. I eyeball the milk, just enough to thin the soup a little. Add some dried herbs, heat it up until the veggies are cooked. It’s done before the biscuits are out of the oven. So easy and delicious.
I keep my vitamins in a kitchen drawer! It’s convenient in the morning so I don’t forget to take them!
Definitely adding the stuff to the grocery list for this recipe!
IKEA! They have tons of different affordable boards to hang things and they even have compartments to hang with it and all that fun stuff!
I use pimple patches on bug bites on my face. The hydrocolloid is often used on band aids so it makes sense.
