    Can you do a cost of living video please? Also, maybe include what you feel a shoe string budget is or the minimum you would need for when we get there. We are a family of 6 with no house to sell. We hope you save at least £15k, do you think this would be ok to set up house ect. I’m a nurse so would not move till job is secure.

    Cheapest mobile phone sims are Coles or Woolworths Mobile, 365 day prepaid!
    The other main thing for your checklist is can you get a rental in Perth…. 😉

    Here's my tip for anyone considering an international move: first determine how your going to split up the things you have now (1) take with you(ship) , (2) storage in home country (paid storage or with relatives) (3) sell. then buy coloured sticky note pads (post it notes, come in different colours) and a note book and some clear packing tape, on the first page write what each colour means, i.e. pink=sell, blue=store yellow=ship. then on the next few pages write a colour at the top of the page, when you assemble a box stick a sticky note on it with the correct colour, write a number on it with a thick black marker, then cover it with the clear tape so it's well secured to the box, write the box number in the book and everything you put in the box write down next to that number in the book.
    - When the shipping company or movers or whoever come to your house you to help you move stuff, just tell them take boxes with this colour to storage / shipping etc.
    - When you get asked by the shipping company tells you the destination countries customs needs an inventory, you just photocopy/ scan / photograph with your phone the pages for the colour tags of the boxes you shipped
    - When the boxes arrive at your new home in the destination country (because this will be 3-6 months later), you know if all the boxes arrived (or which one is missing) and you know exactly which box has which items
    - when your emptying out the stored boxes in your original country in a few years time (because your sick of paying storage fees or your family member wants them out) you know before you get there what is in each box so you can have a plan what your going to do before you get there instead of having to open boxes to remember what you have stored

    The first thing you need to do is to find out what you are getting yourself into.
    Australia is not what British people think it is. A surprisingly large proportion of Brits return home again.

      It is a beautiful part of NSW, but you should check about the availability of suitable employment there. before making a decision. It's a smallish local centre for dairy farming. Wollongong, which is a major city and has a good range of employment, is a good 45 minutes driving. to the north. There is a train service, but trains outside Sydney are not what you'd expect from most places in the UK

      Each visa has different requirements. Your best bet if to speak with your emigration agent - they can give you a list of what you need to provide for your visa type xx

    How do you make temporary accommodation work on a shoe string budget?

    • @TheBAMFamalam
      @TheBAMFamalam  5 месяцев назад +1

      Book in advance so you have cheaper options, only book it for as long as necessary. Perhaps consider out of the box options, such as house/pet sitting when you arrive, which would give you free accommodation xx

      Perhaps investigate the housing crisis here in Australia. Housing is neither plentiful nor affordable.

      If 15k is what you’ve got, then work to it - we’ve known people only arrive with $10k - you just start basic and upgrade things as time goes on. I think you’re wise to get work secured before arriving, that way your saving are just for setting up as your wages will cover your day to day costs xx
