Stir-fry for 15 minutes. Add noodles, herbs, scallion, and peanut on a plate. In a pot, add stir-fried frogs, pork, chicken, mackerel and shrimp. Serve all together.

🥞 BÁNH XÈO: In a saucepan, add 1 teaspoon of cooking oil on medium heat. Then add banh xeo dough made from rice and turmeric powder in the pan. Cook until golden brown. Place banh xeo skin in a saucepan and add shrimp. Cook it for 2 more minutes and then serve with rice paper, fresh herbs and sauces.

(It really spits fire and water irl though. I went to Da Nang to see the "event" once. It only spits fire and water at 9:00 p.m on Saturdays and Sundays (or on special occasions). It spits fire first then spits water. The event lasts for 15 minutes. People standing under its head can get wet when it spits water.)

This episode changed me from an occasional lurker into a full-time subscriber. I knew how Nuoc Mam was made, but had never seen it done. My first experience with Nuoc Mam was buying not just one bottle, but a second since I thought from the aroma that the first one had certainly gone 'round the bend *blushes*. I was such a noob to the life-changing experience that is Vietnamese cuisine. But when I learned just what Nuoc Mam could really do, I've always kept a bottle (or two) on hand, and I must confess to occasionally taking a little nip straight from the bottle. It is truly the elixir of the Gods.
Thank you for such a yummy excursion. Maybe one day I'll get to experience it firsthand.
LOL. My go-to meal when there is nothing else to eat. A small bowl of fish source with sliced red peppers and rice.
Sounds like my first experience actually buying fish sauce. It smelled like death. But it works so well to add flavor I just accepted the smell was something you just have to put up with. I did find out later that real Vietnamese fish sauce, as well as other fish sauces in Asia, don't usually stink as bad and sometimes smell closer to a pungent soy sauce smell. Commercial "Asian" fish sauce, particularly that sold in the West, uses a different method to make it which leads to such a terrible smell. The authentic stuff also tastes much better.
I prepare it for myself and it tastes amazing! Specially the warm noodle Salad, fast to prepare, tastes like Heaven 🤗

Vietnam is a beautiful country, insanely friendly people, great culinary tradition, and awesome culture. I still dont get why the US had to go to war with this beautiful country. Now we finally know who was the good guy and who was the bad guy.

It’s a beautiful country now, but during the time when they practiced true communism, many had the leave Vietnam, and go to America because there wasn’t enough money and food.
As a swede I got really surprised to see that Vietnam makes their fish sauce by fermenting herring. Which is exactly what we do, but instead of making fish sauce we do that smelly thing people gag from on challenges on youtube (surströmming), which is in fact really tasty when eaten correctly.
I also got surprised to see that they pickle the herring (with lemon) - which we do too (but with vinegar), which is considered a staple dish (inlagd sill) on everyone's table on major holidays here in Sweden (especially christmas and midsummer).
Interesting af to see how food cultures crosses borders like this!

I visited Vietnam for the first time right before the breakout of this beer-virus. I only visited Hanoi, Da Nang and Saigon, but Da Nang was by far my favorite of the three. Such a relaxed and laid back city (especially compared to the other two). Definitely want to go back there someday after the world opens up again.
i heard Nha Trang (beach resorts) and Da Lat (in the mountain) are great places to visit if you have the chance. I am from Russia and a lot of Russian people living in Nha Trang..beautiful beach..and Da Lac has great weather. Vietnamese people are great.
Central Vietnam is just AMAZING LANDSCAPE !! Picturesque...The color of Sonny's Video makes people have to come to Vietnam once in their lifetime ! And pick Da Nang of course !!

I went to a Vietnamese restaurant in my home state of FL and they raw served jelly fish and it was pretty good they had some stuff on the menu I have seen you try sonny!

I worked for Vietnamese people for 5 years in a restaurant, it was fusion food but we had several traditional Vietnamese dishes, birds nest chow mein, pho, bahn mi, thicht nong, idk the name of one I loved but it was a bed of shredded lettuce with julienned english cucumber on top of of the shreds, then hot rice stick noodles on top of the cold stuff, crispy grilled marinated pork (fish sauce, ginger, & garlic mainly) on the noodles, green onions, cilantro, & crushed peanuts to top it all. I always added a few sauteed Thai peppers and then used sweet chili sauce (mae ploy) as I needed but its still my favorite thing in the world
