So many people talk about how they wish Disney would restore all the rides to their original state, but what you don't realize is that these rides will never go back. Disney's motto is pretty much progress and keep moving forward. They're going to keep changing rides and tearing rides down. I know to some of us it doesn't seem like the greatest, but just be thankful that we still have these great rides. You don't know that they won't tear it down in ten years. Enjoy it while it lasts :P
Arguably the best ride in the world. Why is that? It isn't fast or thrilling or anything. But its the art of that ride and the attention to detail that keeps you going back. Nothing beats it.
I've seen the new face in the waterfall at the beginning of the ride, I like Blackbeard, but Davy Jones brought a much more thrilling feeling to the ride.
This is probably THE BEST video I've seen of this attraction. Nice and clear, not jerky or overly bright or dark, the colours are true and no noisy people chattering in the background. Very well done!
Back when I was younger I got stuck in this ride and it's a small world after all ride. I didn't mind this one as much as I did the small world. This was one of my favorites back in the 90s as a kid!(:
I haven't been to WDW since my honeymoon in 2004, thanks for reminding me of how awesome Disney is. I can't wait to take my son...he's 2 & 1/2 now...my husband & I are going to wait a couple more years though. Thanks again :)
The beginning of the ride is my favorite part. The eerie beginning sequence with the Davy Jones apparition, the skeletons on the beach, the skeleton steering the ship in the middle of a thunder and lightning storm, the eerie “A Pirates Life For Me” song and the “dead men tell no tales” line adds an even more compelling and epic element to an already amazing ride! This beginning sequence is one of the MANY reasons why the Disney World version of this ride is MUCH better than the Disneyland version.
You did a great job of filming, great perspective! Thanks so much I just relived a childhood memory with ya! I was 7 or so and my parents took the WHOLE family there in 1980 ish.
holyRONANempire. I hope you don't mind but I just had to share this wonderful video of yours on my Facebook. I gave the credit to you, of course. But I just think you did such a good job and I want to show my friends what they are missing. Thanks for such a wonderful video. If you want, though, I'll take the video down from my FB.
It's a bit saddening how much Disney World did not include in this ride (and from reading about the Paris and Tokyo parks - those too). I dislike most of the 'refurbishing' they did to the one in Disneyland but this one they do need to upgrade. They've left out a number of scenes ,and didn't in cooperate some of the drops which make it even more exciting. What I do like, however, is the atmosphere of walking in with the cannons, etc.
yeah becuz what i find to be funny is that i was originally sad that i missed out on this ride when i was young but when i went on it just recently i realized that it didn't matter becuz what's funny about the potc ride is that in order to get anything out of it you have to know what a rogue is:)
@clockworkfiction3 Have you been on the one in Paris? It's sensational! The ride is back to front from the US versions so it starts with the raid on the fortress and ends with the drunken pirates accidentally blowing up the town and being sent to Davy Jones' locker
@jonochi1 I'm terrified of drops, too (btw, if you have a mean older sister that enjoys torturing you, do NOT ride Splash Mountain with her!), but the drop for this ride isn't all that bad. It's like the last drop for Teamboat Springs, but only seems scarier 'cause it's in the dark. When is your trip to WDW?
i live in california and i've only gone to the one in disneyland, i would love to ride this one but personally i think i would like disneyland's better.
LOL....that poor skeleton's still pinned to the wall with a sword since the 30-something years ago when I first saw him. :~D And I still wanna jump out of the boat on these rides.
Ok that was a GREAT video thanks!! I have a question for you though. You have a little daughter now was she AT all scared of the drop? i am 14 and im DEADLY afraid of drops, but now that my sister works in disney she is limiting me to the rides i can opt out on so i have to ride this. last time i rode this the drop freaked me out but i was like 12 so what did your daughter say about the drop?
@ztslovebird I literally JUST got home from the trip, got off the plane 1 hour ago XD but it was nice. i did pirates and big thunder mountain and dinosaurs (rides i wouldnt do in the past :P) but it was a good trip thanks!!
THIS REMINDS ME WHEN I WAS 5 AND THOUGHT THIS WAS SLOW UNTIL... THT DROP SCARED THE PEE OUT OF ME I DONT LIKE FAST RIDES BUT NOW I DO I RODE JURRASSIC PARK :) FRONT ROW XD
I love watching disney rides and im going not this thursday but next ah..... memories lol ps im younger than you think i am i just said i am 16 when i registerd im not 11 not 12 and im 10
@jonochi1 lol, lucky! Florida weather is the only kind for me; I'll gladly take a few hurricanes if it means being able to wear short sleeves and lighter clothes in December! Would you recommend Dinosaur or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for a fellow person-who-doesn't-like-rides-that-can-result-in-lost-lunches?
@Embargoman I know which skull your talking about. My family goes almost every year to Disney and we noticed they took it out bout 4 years ago. (not sure exactly tho but around that time)
@moviesperson100001 basically he was saying that there was never a line for this ride and i was just saying that the fact that theres never a line is not true cuz of course during the busy seasons it would be a 2 hour wait, afterall this is one of disney's most popular attractions
@icantthinkokaname768 Yeah! And I've been fifteen or sixteen times now! The lines are usually pretty long for that ride. For me, I mean. Unless you're staying at a resort (I always am) and they let you stay in the park later. The lines are empty then.
When we went on this I was on a field trip and one of the kids (Colby) is really scared of drops and one of the ladies said " no Colby there are no drops on WAAAAH!! And my mom said the jack animatronics looked like Johnny sooo much she expected him to pop out
Why'd they change the ride? Sparrow and Jones were never in it. And there were cannons firing and the splashes hit you. It was freakier. Damn, I went when I was 13 in 1998. Best part: it was the dark part of the ride and my cousin whips out a little 1oz. thing of rum.
Wow, the POTC ride I went on in 89 was well better! All the dummys sung and danced loads and there were loads of them. God, can't believe I went 22 years ago, I was only 5.
This broke down on me a couple years ago and I was stuck on the part where the cannons kept firing and water kept flying in the air for one whole god forsaken hour until we had to evacuate by wading through a section of the water.
Ok so my wife and I went to WDW for a weeks vacation..Our last day after 3 in the Magic Kingdom we run last min to Pirates...not even an attendant around at the entrance outside. We get an empty boat... As we pass the guy saying here kitty, kitty we both smell Rum as strong as can be. Neither of us say anything to one another and as we watch the last of the parade I looked at her and said.."did you smell" she blurts out RUM in Pirates yes....weird stuff in that ride...
@ztslovebird Definately dinosaurs, i was so scared at first but it is not bad at all. just shaky and bumpy and ALOT of loud noises, i actually really like this now. Big thunder is still not a favorite i do however recommend riding it once. not on a full stomach of course but it wasnt "terrible" still a little intense but it was super curvy .
Aww show a bit of back bone will ya, drop isnt that bad, I have been on the old version, before the movie came out, and upgrade the ride with Jack and Long John Silver.
@holyRONANempire I went on the ride for the first time in August on a really rainy day, and there was no line. PS, it was my second day in Disney World. ;)
@holyRONANempire Ok thanks!! im going in about two weeks and my dad likes to lie about the rides to make me go on them and he always says the drop is only a foot (yeah RIGHT!) so much help thanks!
This is the first time I saw the Pirates of the Caribbean from WDW. I have to say that the one in disneyland, here in CA is better. No ofence to WDW, but the wdw version seems shorter, and not as well spaced apart between scenes.
God how i miss old disney world and old disney rides, the new ones, and “refurbished” ones are just not magical to me. i am so mad, and heartbroken they got rid of the old rides and shows, why couldn't they just build new stuff elsewhere, like in another state!
@unicornXfart Yeah, I go to Disneyland a lot myself, and I was pissed when I found out the POTC at WDW was closed during my one trip in May 1986. I heard from a couple of sources (My Mom and the book "The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland") that the D-land "Pirates" is better, and I really wanted to find out myself.
One of my professors told me that she and her family went to Disney World a long time ago and went on this ride and got stuck at I think the jail part, not sure though. They had to listen to the same thing over and over again until they fixed the ride!!!! That'd be terrible if that happened to me, but I think I'd rather get stuck in that scene than in the scene where they sing the song!!! What does everybody else think would be the worst scene to get stuck in on this ride???
So many people talk about how they wish Disney would restore all the rides to their original state, but what you don't realize is that these rides will never go back. Disney's motto is pretty much progress and keep moving forward. They're going to keep changing rides and tearing rides down. I've seen the new face in the waterfall at the beginning of the ride, I like Blackbeard, but Davy Jones brought a much more thrilling feeling to the ride.
Thankfully they brought Davy Jones back for that part
This is probably THE BEST video I've seen of this attraction. Nice and clear, not jerky or overly bright or dark, the colours are true and no noisy people chattering in the background. Very well done!
This is some of teh BEST footage of this ride I have ever seen
i remember going on this ride as a kid (when it wasn't remade to fit the movies) and that drop scared the bejeaves out of me!
I used to hate drops too, but this was one of the first ones I took on and it's just like going down a slide in the playground.
Back when I was younger I got stuck in this ride and it's a small world after all ride. I didn't mind this one as much as I did the small world. This was one of my favorites back in the 90s as a kid!(:
This has to be one of the best rides in that park.. and its crazy how old it is.. but to me still #1
much better video then normal, love it.
I haven't been to WDW since my honeymoon in 2004, thanks for reminding me of how awesome Disney is. I can't wait to take my son...he's 2 & 1/2 now...my husband & I are going to wait a couple more years though. Thanks again :)
Wow, best PotC video ever! Such crisp, clear picture and sound - I've got serious camera envy!
I love how in the end, jack keeps rambling on and on while the song is playing but he always stops to yell "DRINK UP ME HEARTIES YO HO!"
man i miss that wonderful theme park
Great image quality! Bravo!
Your video is the clearest of all the videos shot on this ride!
I freakin love this ride...its my absolute favorite since I was a kid.....I ride it every time I am there....
So excited! Going to be there this sunday! Cant wait ❤
Man I'm goin this summer and after watching this I can't wait.
going for spring break, can't wait!!!
How does Disney do it? How do they make their rides so magical?
@MrBepruitt That's a great story MrBepruitt! Thanks for sharing, and I'm happy this video brings back such great memories!
holyRONANempire. I hope you don't mind but I just had to share this wonderful video of yours on my Facebook. I gave the credit to you, of course. But I just think you did such a good job and I want to show my friends what they are missing. Thanks for such a wonderful video. If you want, though, I'll take the video down from my FB.
LOL I love this ride haven't been there since I was about 12 or 13 and I'll be taking my children for there bdays next Jan can't wait
I'm currently stuck in a Disney World ride video watching marathon. I know I'm not the only one right now.
this ride was awesome XD
Im from newyork i just moved to new york came from magic kingdom 2 days ago 1 of the best experiences of my lfie tbh
lol i loved the drop!

Wow you got really lucky with the lines! Last time I was there, The line extended all the way outside.
I luv this ride
I like disney is my favorit park
love this rife its my fav!
Just 95 more days until I can be there. My gosh it's killing me.
It's a bit saddening how much Disney World did not include in this ride (and from reading about the Paris and Tokyo parks - those too). it was a blast
just great!!!
favorite ride at WDW!
I like both versions of the ride, but I don't like how quickly this one throws you into everything, where as DLR's slowly puts you into the atmosphere
Myfavorite ride!!!
I love the way Johnny Depp sings A Pirates Life for Me
My favorite dark ride.
yeah becuz what i find to be funny is that i was originally sad that i missed out on this ride when i was young but when i went on it just recently i realized that it didn't matter becuz what's funny about the potc ride is that in order to get anything out of it you have to know what a rogue is:)

It's like the last drop for Teamboat Springs, but only seems scarier 'cause it's in the dark. When is your trip to WDW?
@clockworkfiction3 It is, it has a much more grand feel about it (partly because of the incredible soundtrack)
I went on this. I recommend it for people who just started roller coasters bc there's one faster drop
I will be there in june!:)
just got home from family vaca and going back in july for work
amen to that. i liked the part on the ride when the ship fired the cannons, but they dont have it anymore.
:D ive had many vacations at Walt Disney WOrld!
i lve this ride
i live in california and i've only gone to the one in disneyland, i would love to ride this one but personally i think i would like disneyland's better.
LOL....that poor skeleton's still pinned to the wall with a sword since the 30-something years ago when I first saw him. :~D And I still wanna jump out of the boat on these rides.
2 people obviously know a pirates life isn't for them.
How could you not like this ride?
Ok that was a GREAT video thanks!! I have a question for you though. You have a little daughter now was she AT all scared of the drop? i am 14 and im DEADLY afraid of drops, but now that my sister works in disney she is limiting me to the rides i can opt out on so i have to ride this. last time i rode this the drop freaked me out but i was like 12 so what did your daughter say about the drop?
I wanna go back,,, im so depressed,, this is the only place that makes me happy,, I hate my life so much
@ztslovebird I literally JUST got home from the trip, got off the plane 1 hour ago XD but it was nice. i did pirates and big thunder mountain and dinosaurs (rides i wouldnt do in the past :P) but it was a good trip thanks!!

I've never been on this ride so I was wondering if it had any drops? And if it does, is it scary at all?
This ride looks the same as when I rode it 10 years ago. Where is the influence from the movies?
I love watching disney rides and im going not this thursday but next ah..... memories lol ps im younger than you think i am i just said i am 16 when i registerd im not 11 not 12 and im 10
@jonochi1 lol, lucky! Florida weather is the only kind for me; I'll gladly take a few hurricanes if it means being able to wear short sleeves and lighter clothes in December! Thumbs up if you're watching this to relive a disney memory.
i remember when noone used to go on this. before the movies
So true...
@Embargoman I know which skull your talking about. My family goes almost every year to Disney and we noticed they took it out bout 4 years ago. (not sure exactly tho but around that time)
It's so short compared to the one out here in California. Interesting though.
@jonochi1 My little one didn't mind. You really don't go all that far down....make 10 feet. It's over in an instant.
@Civiceg10 If you're talking about Spheremaster0001's comment, he's only refering to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, not the whole resort.
@moviesperson100001 basically he was saying that there was never a line for this ride and i was just saying that the fact that theres never a line is not true cuz of course during the busy seasons it would be a 2 hour wait, afterall this is one of disney's most popular attractions
@bladewolf39 so what..... most of the attractions during the busy seasons are like a 2 hour wait, though i've never had to wait 2 hours for a ride.

does anyone else remember the anamatronic of a worker at disney handcuffed in the line? I think it might have been at 0:22
This broke down on me a couple years ago and I was stuck on the part where the cannons kept firing and water kept flying in the air for one whole god forsaken hour until we had to evacuate by wading through a section of the water.
43 days to go!!!
Ok so my wife and I went to WDW for a weeks vacation..Our last day after 3 in the Magic Kingdom we run last min to Pirates...not even an attendant around at the entrance outside. @thedragoonknight this is a pirates life i think it is hard to tell
Its a Canon HD MiniDV camcorder.
