Hello everyone Nini here, just to clear a few misconceptions,
    1. I meant 11 pounds even at that it was an exaggeration to land at the point that some people were born fat and it stays with them for life
    2. When you say fat is a choice who is actually making that choice, the individual or their finances or environment, where a plate of rice cost 2000 naira and 3 pieces of apples cost 2500, please what choice do you think will be made in that instance.
To Reiterate most of what I said in this video is an exaggeration, hypothetical and alleged.
Let’s remember to always be kind and spread love to one another as you don’t know what might be someone’s 13th reason.
Thank you for watching the video and a big thank you to cruise for having me on here.

Being skinny in Nigeria, is not a funny at all.
As a people or a society, culturally accepted attractive people are based off of how thick or fleshy(being descriptive) they are. There's this stigma that comes to being quite skinny, especially if you are approaching young adulthood, or already a full young adult. And let's face it, it's quite seeming to be worse when you're a woman. You're deemed unattractive(not hot) by the male populace, because you do not have a huge backframe/backside or big breasts. It does even come to situations where you are addressed as "flat" or looking like a "stick" for being on the skinny side, and it's always in a condescending context. As per, "you suppose be man, because how complete babe/woman no go get flesh? How woman no go get body na, you be man oh"... it's always not great to hear that.
Just to say, whether skinny or plus-sized, I really hope we all come to learn and appreciate our body and how we naturally are. We can do our best to be the better version of ourselves while not hating or killing our image.

Mr.Mayowa is so real, and I like it. Being fat is definitely a choice, but a hard one. No matter the gene and hormonal imbalance, it all comes down to what you consume, the amount of calories your body needs vs the amount you consume, If you are in a deficit, you will definitely lose weight. So when the entrepreneur lady says, she's done all sort of exercise, and still hasn't gotten result, exercise is just like a tip of the iceberg, no matter how much you exercise, if you are still not in a calories deficit, you won't lose weight. Everybody burn a certain calories already at rest, so even without exercise, but with a deficit, you can still lose weight. And a lot of us consume x2 the amount of food we need, hence the reason why most people are overweight. And I understand that some people have health issues, but with a good lifestyle, you can avoid to be fat. And life is not fair, it will never be, some people have fast metabolism and good health, why others, the opposite, you that have the opposite have to put in x2 the work, that is life.

Most of health conditions we encounter are stemmed from the stress we experience throughout our daily lives..! Sustained stress put our bodies through a state of elevated cortisol that further prompts us into survival mode(once the stress isn’t resolved). Once in survival mode persons experience wide range of diseases and sickness ( hormonal imbalance, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune disorders etc).

Firstly: I think skinny shaming is more worst than fat. Cause fat shaming comes with intent but skinny shaming, everyone does it without even knowing. Even skinny children are not spared. I remember as a child, my mum always wants me to wear one particular gown cause it big and long sleeves. Why? Cause it covers my body well and so people will stop accusing her of not feeding me well.
A fat baby is praised but a skinny one is side-looked or they start advising the mother on what to feed her baby.
Fat women have problems with fatness cause of what men says most times, but as a skinny woman , you are a target to both men and women.
In nursing school, my classmates fat enough to be mistaken for my mother told me, real men like flesh and not bone like me and I won’t find a real man. But she said it when I already loved myself enough to reply her “ I said “well I’m a woman to be kept and cherished not eaten like a meat as you describe yourself “ the audacity for someone who is just her early 20s yet look older than my mum to come for me like that.

The word 'fat' in itself is obviously not a bad word. however, society has so much transformed the meaning of this word. that it doesn't just mean 'fat' but goes beyond. it just so happened that the 'extra meaning' society attatched to the word is demeaning. It therfore gives the perception that 'fat' is rude or demeaning. so, since we know this, it's best not to call people fat. you may see it as okay, but it's most likely that a vast majority of people, are going through a whole lot because of the word 'fat'.

I'm a "Fat" man and I even enjoy people calling me "Biggie", "Abig","big man" etc... All these are just the way you're seen and it's fine.. I just really see myself as "enough" "handsome","Wonderfully made minus nothing". It still doesn't mean I wouldn't live life well and live long because I mind what I eat and I exercise at any small opportunity... For example, I packed into a new location And as usual the "Abig", big man" etc was on everyone's lips.. Omo, anytime anyone calls me that I'll be like "Eheee, Esmalll, how are you, ehee Broom stick, how's your family , etc😅 all of a sudden, within two weeks, nobody ever wanted to call me those names again, they all know my real name and address me as that 😂😂
No gree for anybody oo else your mental health would be tampered on😂😂 especially in this part of the world

Imagine eating bread and sweetened chocolate tea for breakfast, swallow, which is just starch ( and no, most people don’t use unripe plantain to make swallow) and rice or yam and oil for dinner, for brunch/snacks we drink garri and suger, puff-puff, etc. for a while this way tolerable because most of us were farmers, factory workers, etc, hence we burned the extra calories. Today most people are office workers/ lead sedentary lifestyles. That’s why life expectancy is low in Nigeria, diabetes is extremely high.

I have friends on the big side and I can say it is not "always" a choice to lose or gain weight. Yes, you can try your best and truly, it works for some people but there are others that try and some even do times 2 of the work and still their efforts prove futile. Hormonal imbalance is more common than people think and I'm glad people are starting to get enlightened that people are not just fat because they "eat too much". Mayowa made a lot of sense, definitely, one should try their best to keep fit and be consistent with it. Although, I feel he was comparing his own situation of inconsistency to that of people that may have other contributing factors like genetics, pcos, and so on. Being fat doesn't always equate to being unhealthy. One can be big and be healthy.

I would rather agree with Noah saying "poverty is not a choice" than agreeing to "Being fat is not a choice" 😂😂😂
Anyway, let's call a marker, a marker and not a pencil.
Even amidst medical conditions, being fat is most at times a choice if not always.
If you don't want to be accountable for your actions or habits that's left for you.
I mean, most of us might have seen/watched documentary of people who weigh more than 6 of them combined but still decided to lose that weight nonetheless.
MAYBE rephrasing the prompt might help, how about "Being Obese is a Choice" 🙂

  • @thacompilations4010
    @thacompilations4010 Месяц назад +9

Why is it that you don't find fat people during war time or during starvation?
Honestly I experimented eating unhealthy foods sodas, doughnuts and all these fried fast foods for 2months and I increased from 75kg to 87kg.
During this time I was eating like 4-5x a day and eating cakes, sugary foods etc.
My face ballooned, I gained alot of abdominal fat.
The next thing I did was decide to lose that weight. I started an OMAD (One meal a day) diet eating only at 3-4pm. I totally cut out sugar, sodas, bread. There are a lot of things that contain sugar... Mayonnaise, ketchup etc.
I ate more meat and veges and less carbs (rice, yam, beans etc) ans started exercising early in the morning at home.
In 1month I lost all that weight and I'm now 76kg.
So to me it's possible if you want to be consistent in dieting and exercising.
It all comes down to what you put in your body and your activity level.
Sorry to say but a lot of fat people eat higher than the average person. Yeah they're people with medical conditions that cause them to gain weight but it's still linked to food, the fat doesn't just miraculously come from no where.
