Awe! You made a baby door. ❤️. 👶🏻! Looks great, works well. 🐥 We did exactly that same thing. Makes winter super easy. We used pine shavings for everything from deep padded nest box shelves to floor and removable roosting bar floor box. Throw a thin layer of shavings on each afternoon when you collect eggs. Then just pull the box/tray out and turn it over onto an outdoor compost pile when full. Gardening was never easier! Blessings!
Just love the way you two allow us to share and have a good laugh with you. All the scrap material in the world won't save money unless you know how to use it and you guys are miracle workers. Enjoy watching your ideas put into action with the usual good end results. Also, Maverick is such a natural ham; a delight to watch.
Lol!Love how you were so serious holding those hiccups in Ashley!Great door doug! You are brilliant with migiverin things from scrap!Great door for kids too!So cute!Lol!
Brilliant. End shot now shows us all that you need to build the children some outside shade/playhouse. You’re welcome for the addition to your long list of jobs you’d like to do ;)
I am going to have to make, one of these on my new chicken coop when I build it, my old one is now to small, thanks for this video, I now know how to do it... Excellent job...
this is a genius idea 💡. I hope I get my own property real soon cause I can’t wait for another 10 years. It’s time. I can’t go on growing on a tiny balcony. I’m jealous in a good way. Great job and video as always 👏🏻 keep them coming
This was the same kind of latch we had on our back door when I was growing up. My Daddy built a slab door [we lived in a converted barn] and made this lock, we called it a button latch. It was just held on by a large nail, cause that's what we had! Love the videos!
Great idea with the POP door! Love how functional it will be and how easy it is to make! TFS! Enjoyed your hiccup intro, Ashley! Have a blessed day, Doug, Ashley, Belle and Maverick!
Yall just have so much fun with each other. And now Maverick has a little window to survey the landscape. Yall keep loving what you are doing! Bunny in NWFL
Very very nice..... I like your idea for keeping your door open.....we have the same type of door in both of our coops but to make it easier on myself I wanted the coop doors to open before I get out to clean out the coops every morning and ti close after sun went down ...my chickens always go in early so I set their timer at 8 so no one gets stuck outside but my ducks get to stay out till 9 or so we have both our coops working on timers . We also made double doors so if we need it closed for any reason we can close the coop off from the outer door or we can leave the outer door open all the time and the inner door has the timer . It has been working great for the past 10 years.....love your clever ideas and love watching how your property is coming along everything is looking so great !
Loved the opening!!!!!!!! You think of everything when you do a project! I love that those pallets keep getting recycled!! You are lucky the pallets are free. Video (again) is well done. You have so much common sense. Seriously...you should do a "how to book" for dummies/beginners. ;-) XX
Hey guys, been in ireland for a couple months for a death in the family,we had to sell the property out there..Glad to see all is going good for you!! Good to see you guys again!! I hope all is well,,See ya on the next vid -Ray
I love how you leave stuff in that most channels would edit out...it really sets you apart. I didn't compare dates but Al at Lumnah Acres built a similar door. Great minds think alike!
I really like your design. I agree it is simplistic, but secure. I just finished designing and building a 6' x 8' chicken coop for my small flock. I am going build the door in the morning. I went to the hardware store today to purchase the I-bolts, rope and boards. Thanks for sharing. Best of wishes.
Hiccups, such fun. The best way to get them to stop: get a glass of water with a straw in it, plug your ears and hold your breath, start drinking, drink as much as you can. Wait a minute to see if they have stopped. If not, do it again.
It would be difficult for a raccoon to get a hold of the plywood and lift the weight. The bottom edge sits below the wood on the outside, which makes it even harder for them to get a good grip. For extra security, some type of latch could be installed just in case :)
Look for a video someone else did....where they attached a hinge at top of sliding door so that limited how high the board can go. Unless someone was to pull a string. Which a raccoon wouldn't do. So use this video with the hinge idea, that's what my plan is.
Hey where are the chickens answer no chickens today no videos today okay I hope you guys are doing okay down there just take your time don't be in a hurry just take your time just make sure the garage is I saw some dirt in the background in the garage make sure you fill it in
What do I think???? I think you're brilliant!!! That is one great idea for a door, and you can just do it with ease....awesome!
Thanks :D
wow I agree with everyone else here, you are Brilliant Doug, a very ingenious man. Perfect little window for Maverick too lol
Thank you :)
Some people have a lot and do nothing good with it. You two show what it's like to need little but do much.

That's awesome that you have your doors on a timer! Sounds like you have a great setup :D
I like this! I don't know what I like more, the pop door, the hiccups or the little helper! Great job! :)
Love your little helper. So cute!
Hi ! I hope your chickens will be good jumpers coming from outside, if not, you will build a launching pad, lol ! Take care. 😊👍👍👍
Awesome
Awesome!
I swear Maverick is gorgeous. I get immense pleasure out of watching him. I guess it's something about babies. LOL!

Thanks for this video. It's very helpful.
I like your idea better than the rope pulley system. You are a brilliant thinker...
It’s coming along nicely! Darn those pesky hiccups! 😆

Awesome guys...!!!!!
Honey never stop laughing. When you do your life will be so sad. I know I have been there .
Gail Reese same i know the feeling
Well done
Well done!!
That came out nice! Is Maverick speaking at all besides the caveman grunts ;-)
Tip: Sugar under the tongue stops hiccups...
Maverick doesn't say any words but he sure knows how to tell us what he wants, haha.
Great!!
Oh poor Ashley! Hiccups are the worst!!! Love that you guys kept that in though! Just proves how human you are ♥️
Lovely laughter at the beginning of your video, Ashley! Gbu!
Great job!! 👍👍
Lol the hiccups were adorable
Wonderful tutorial! I'm going to try it for my girls.
Ashley is so cute with the hiccups. The build is epic. The chicks will be happy...

Ashley's cute giggle, priceless.
Just the information I was looking for. Thank you, God bless!
Great info. Loved the hiccups! lol
nice to be able to open it from either side too
You have beautiful children.
Working on my coop today and your channel popped up....:) I'm long time subscriber and you had the exact info I was looking for!
Great job. And I’m all about pallets
We are laughing so hard at the intro!
Super cute
Hey Doug thank you for sharing your idea
Nice work man! I’m going to go down to my coop and do the same thing. Thanks for the great video! And your son is a little stud! Happy Easter!
Good job man ❤
Other nice job
Awesome dude!!! Thanks for posting!
Excellent idea!
Thanks.
Wow, you're a genius!!
Nicely done. Only thing I would add is a handle to the top of the inside.
Good idea, but you can't make it with out a little sweetheart hahaha God bless you :)
Great ideas!
Great video! Thank you!
Awesome door
Good job👏
Great video, thanks!
Great job!
Love it
You’re quite ingenious.
Maverick looks like he's working a drive through, I was expecting a Belle to drive up in a peddle car.
YALL ARE SO CUTE
It is very nice and well done. Looks to last for many years. Have you automated it yet.?
Thanks! We ended up just attaching a string to it to be able to pull it open without going into the coop.
Sam way I made mine. Intake the door completely out during the day.
That was funny. I'm still laughing. Unedited bit good for laughs.

What kind of drill bit are you using?
👍🏻💪🙏
Hinges cost money and wear out but scrap wood is plentiful.
PLZZ DON'T BE HARD ON SOMEONE WHEN THEY HAVE THE HICCUPS THEY ARE HARD TO CONTROL LOVE YOUR CHANNEL
I'm wondering with all these door idea's. most or all just close and stay shut by the weight of the door..but can a raccoon lift it?
It would be difficult for a raccoon to get a hold of the plywood and lift the weight. The bottom edge sits below the wood on the outside, which makes it even harder for them to get a good grip. For extra security, some type of latch could be installed just in case :)

Doug what is the purpose of having long beard to a homesteaders like you, art and Justin Rhoads?
I can only speak for myself, but it is a part of my religious and personal convictions, that it is honorable for a man to grow a beard.
Hey where are the chickens answer no chickens today no videos today okay I hope you guys are doing okay down there just take your time don't be in a hurry just take your time just make sure the garage is I saw some dirt in the background in the garage make sure you fill it in
We'll have chickens soon, just have to wait a little longer. :)
;-)
what is that thing on his face?!
What's a pop door?
The little door that chickens go in and out of from their coop.
@@diyfferent ah you coop door, got it.
job well done. i could not have done better ......... have you seen any predators out there guys ?
We do have a big raccoon that walks around. We have seen him out even during the day prowling the backyard.
Out in the Country Raccoons love chicken dinner 😓and they have hands.
