I'm Native American. Ty for properly explaining fry bread. It's often confused as traditional when our food is actually very vegetable and grain centric + fish and game meats. Kudos ❤😺
That being said fry bread is stupid delicious and if you see it try it! My husband is from another country and I was heartbroken they were out of fry bread at his first powwow. I really wanted him to try it and it's fairly uncommon in our state. 😿

I am Irish and that resonated with me so much. Our foods also tell the history of our people and the suffering we went through. Much of our recipes and staple food tradition were born out of our hardships that we endured at the hands of colonisers. We celebrate them now, as our comfort foods and we even have taken on some of the foods of our colonisers as our own traditional comfort foods. They are not the dishes that are known throughout the world as Irish but we still have them and they are such a part of our history that not every Irish person even knows they come out of hardship and suffering

He and mom loved seeing anything we could drive to in a day or two, so I got to see so much of Southwest America. I got misty eyed each time I went to the Grand Canyon. If you are ever in the 4 Corners area again, I HIGHLY recommend Mesa Verde. It's beautiful, and the ancient cliff dwellings are a marvel in themselves. I've now retired to Las Vegas, and now only a few hours from the Grand Canyon. I also highly recommend a trip to Yellowstone in Wyoming if you ever get back to the States. Once you get past the fact that you are essentially on a massive volcano, the beauty of the area is outstanding, as is the wildlife.😊

As a Phoenician, WTF? How can you call that an Arizona Food Trip/Tour without even making a stop in Phoenix? The food scene over the past 15 years has grown to rival any major US metro area. Very disappointed that PHX wasn't represented. It didn't even need to be the main course, but to just completely gloss over it and go right through to Tucson... that's almost a slap in the face. ;) You could have even stopped off at the Superstition area to get some good tourist type stuff.
Besides the Phoenix slight, Jamie did really well in his choices. The Grand Canyon flight as the boys first time seeing it in real life had to have been crazy. I remember seeing it for the first time as a kid. I couldn't even take it in because it was just so huge.

Road trips in the 4 corners region are my favorite! Haven’t finished watching but excited to see which places you hit. So much to do!

When your kids are at the right reading level I recommend (fiction) Sing Down the Moon by Scott O’Dell about a young Navajo woman left behind during the Long Walk.

I genuinely shed a couple of tears at the shots passing over the edge and revealing the depth and beauty of the grand canyon (3:50). I wish I could see it in person.
Made me feel small in the best way, reminding me that nature is bigger than us and will exist well after we're done wiping ourselves out with our small, small problems and squabbles.

It's even more amazing in person. What they likely didn't get from the helicopter is just how eerie it is to walk up to the edge and say something, and your voice just dissappears. No echo whatsoever. No reverb. It's just off into the ether.

It’s absolutely breathtaking from a birdseye view, but there’s something super special about being on the ground and looking at something soooo massive. I hope you get to see it one day!

I so wish you could see it. I have genuinely heard people say that it is just a hole in the ground upon seeing it. You deserve to see it. They should have seen some other hole in rhe grand.v

Living here, but seeing people experience things for the first time, it just brings home how much I take my country for granted. I really need to get back out to AZ for a vacation.

I remember hearing about the trip in a podcast episode. I’m intrigued by Barry’s hair dealing with the heat because it was a major point of discussion.
Also, this is truly like a grand event where the fun never seems to end.
P.S. We love a trip booked by a lad who’s more like dad
