    Scapa flow is well known to all divers around the world. This dive site has to be on your bucket list to dive. Scapa flow from the old Norse SKALPAFLOI is a body of water in the Orkney islands of Scotland.Today the wreckage of the remaining seven German fleet has become increasingly popular for all divers around the world.This has to be on your bucket list to dive if not dived already. Over time the wrecks have started to break up even more to open themselves to divers to explore the inside of theses wrecks.Since I started to learn to dive few years ago this was on my bucket and I wasn’t disappointed. You have to see them up close to appreciative the size of theses once rulers of the seas. If you planning to dive this site I would highly recommend scapaflow.com on the well equipped MV KARIN.Where it can be used as a liveaboard or you could stay at the quest house at Kirkwall. Go check out the website. I hope you enjoy this video thanks for watching 👍🤿

    Dived here in the 80s/90s from a live aboard called the MV Mara, which is now a dive site herself, as she broke her moorings and subsequently sank

    Always liked Scapa though considered it over-rated, we tend to head out of the Flow and dive the scenic and wreck sites round the North Orkneys. That said I've dived Scapa around a dozen times. But recently dived Narvik and then Bergen and was blown away!

      O wow that sound cool need to put that down on my very long list of dives 😂My mission when training to dive in Scotland was to dive Scapa soon as because that’s all I heard people talking about or asking have I dived there yet and a must do dive .For your first wreck dive and seeing the size of these wrecks you do think this the best wreck dive ever. For example the Great Barrier Reef in Australia yes was great to dive but have dive over great reefs. Diving a reef tomorrow in Cancun we see what that has to offer.

    Great video - I have dived all these wrecks except the Bayern's turrets so i wish you had a bit more on these.

      Glad you liked the video. At times the footage wasn’t that great as there was other divers in the water that mess the vis up a bit then I hit deco by the time I went from one turret to another .Before the dive you see photos of the turrets but once down the there you just can’t believe the size of them . Unfortunately the barrels of the guns are well buried .

    I wish someone would raise one of the Battleships since we only have the Texas from this era.

      Some were raised many years ago but alas not in any condition for display.
      They have been down there almost as long as the Titanic.

      Not sure where you are from . But it must be on most British divers bucket list for sure . Unfortunately there are showing there age and started to collapse on its self but also exposed the inner parts that some divers are limited to look at . Myself also would like to return .

    by far the best diving I've ever done but I would not recommend it for a novice diver, and you should always go in a well-organised group but it's so good.

      Totally agree. That was my first dive on that site. Plus I was with alot of experienced divers that knew the wrecks . Defo not for newbies. Hopefully will revisit before they disappear for good.

    Interesting never knew that . Still a very popular dive site . But over the 100yrs for some wrecks getting a bit unsafe to penetrate.

    If you like the cold, dark, bad vis and piles of scrap metal........ Maybe but it's a big maybe........... If you want the REAL Best Wreck Diving Site In The World, Micronesia is your destination...... Truk Lagoon has a big reputation and a big price tag for a reason, It is undoubtbly THE best Wreck diving site in the world, anyone that says otherwise, hasn't been there.

      At the time for me this was the best wreck . Since then I have heard many times that Truk Lagoon is one of the best dive sites. Would love to dive it but I can’t see that happening unfortunately . I just stick with let’s say Uk best wreck site 👍

    What’s the depth water temp ?

  • @llamamanism
    @llamamanism 8 месяцев назад +1

    It doesn’t look like anything more than piles of scrap metal covered in weeds and soft corals. Cold, dark, deep and dangerous. Best wreck diving ? Certainly not for me, Truk lagoon has everything this doesn’t , viz, sharks, sunshine, warm water, coloured fish and a warm towel waiting on the liveaboard.each to their own.
