Wow! I had no idea there is a storage space in the trunk for the cargo compartment cover. Very smart design, and I don't have to throw the cover in the garage any more! This is one more reason to love my Outback! Thanks a lot for sharing.
After watching this video I took my cargo cover out of the closet where I had it stored and it's now tucked away in the storage area of my 2018 Outback. Thank you for the video!
Thank you so much!!! I had no idea, and now my cover on my 2017 outback expands (another thread suggested checking to see it the velcro had gotten restuck in the wrong position) AND I can store it in the car AND I know how to keep that cover up!!! Wonderful.
5 star video! Well done! Good photography, clear explanations and not too long! Even though the manual has this in it (under cargo cover) it is not nearly as clear as this video.
So helpful. I like these videos and wish I had known about them when we bought the new car in September a year ago. Thanks go Larson at LCM for her guidance.
That was very helpful. I recently went to a Subaru dealer to look at the 2018 Outback and the sales rep told me that there was no storage for the cargo cover inside the car.
I bought mine during closing hours, it was dark and not nearly enough time to learn everything. These videos are definitely helping someone out there, me.
Thanks...they showed me at delivery, but who absorbs all that detail? :) Our 1st Subaru; the Outback reminds me of the old Rambler Cross Country wagon, just much better.
You are talking about a white sticker but I can't tell the difference between the silver bar and a white sticker. It just doesn't show up in the vid. I have enlarged the vid and all sorts of things but still can't see a white sticker.
Now here's a question that will blow your mind. When you store it, the sticker is on the passenger side... But if it's a car made for Australia (meaning the driver seat's on the right, f passenger is on the left) is that now on the driver side?
How do I reset the height of the rear door to fully up? Car is '18 Outback (50th Ann. Ed.) It seems to "reset" itself to lowest setting but I'm sure I or my wife must be inadvertently doing this.
I never knew that was there! I camp in my car, throw my bike in the back, and do other stereotypical Subaru stuff and the cargo cover has always been in the way.
Well in my 2018 Outback the full sized wheel is quite visible - maybe the US model has one of those silly sub sized wheels that are only good to get you home?
Have a 17 Outback just got it in June. Having winter tires and rims installed tomorrow. Will try to replace skinny spare with summer tire and rim. Thanks.

Ditto! 😂
Perfect! My Subaru salesperson didn’t know how to stow it, but now I do!
Subaru Dealers need to educate their sales team . Our salesman never mentioned this option. Im sure he did not even know. SMH
Thank you Brendan Hancock! This was my problem and like you said in 20 seconds I fixed it! I really impressed my son! Liked and subscribed!
I had no idea that was there, that's awesome! I can take mine out the closet now too and store it in the car! Thank you for this video!

You guys are awesome! I would have never guessed it had a storage location.
Our new 2019 Forester sport has the same storage spot. Very handy.

BTW, this tutorial is spot on, for the Subie- Forester 2020 also.

Gary Brown did you show him??
Ours didn’t even come with one! I’ve never bought a wagon/hatchback that didn’t come with a cargo cover!
Great videos all of them.. its amazing what you can learn from a Pro and how Subaru has considered us in all it's options.
Well done - expertly explained, nicely photographed, crystal clear sound
Great video! Now I can take it with me all of the time
Didn't know I could do that, nice! Thank you sir 🤘
I can’t believe that you needed to make a video for this....this was one of the first things shown to me when we purchased our Outback...
You would be surprised how many people ask how to do this. Sadly not everyone's salesperson show them this.
I bought mine during closing hours, it was dark and not nearly enough time to learn everything. These videos are definitely helping someone out there, me.
Very cool. I just did what the video showed, now I don’t need to store it in my garage. Thanks!
Mind blown! Thank you.
Mind blown - that’s super cool, now I won’t just throw it in the cargo. Nice one !
Thank God! I had no idea about this!❤❤❤❤❤
Oh wow Today I Learned....thank you
Who knew? Great video, thanks!
@groove subaru does the Subaru XV/Crosstrek 2018 cargo tray cover can be detached and stowed just like this?
Very, very helpful ! Many thanks !
Is there a similar solution for 2018 Crosstrek?
Actually, it is a great video. It has new information about how to hide the trunk cover and carry with us.
Thanks, Great Video. I've always ask my self where to store it safely....
Will I be able to tow a small trailer with this hitch or is this only for bike rack or cargo carrier?
Thanks...they showed me at delivery, but who absorbs all that detail? :) Our 1st Subaru; the Outback reminds me of the old Rambler Cross Country wagon, just much better.
is this the same for a 2017?

I wonder, does the '18 Crosstrek also have this ability to store the cover like this?
I tried, but couldn't see an obvious place below mat to put it in. I hope there is though. HOping video guy responds

Does this work on the Crosstrek also?
I wish this option is available for the Crosstrek.
never knew that was an option....cool

Good video. Where di you get that hat? I want one !
2012 Outback had better storage above the tire. Good for flares ,tool and an air compressor.
Sweet!
I got a 2021 and had no idea about this
Dope thank u!!
Thanks.
My mind is blown
alguien me puede desir si puedo tow 2008 subaru forester de la parte de enfrente con un triangulo ho
con un dally de dos ruedas
Swiss Army knife of autos…
Don't Americans get a spare tyre?
whya2ndaccount yeah, it’s underneath the tool tray. You lift it up and you will see the spare tire.
Yes, whya2, there is a spare tire in there but it is UNDERNEATH the area where the cargo cover is stored. ;-)
Well in my 2018 Outback the full sized wheel is quite visible - maybe the US model has one of those silly sub sized wheels that are only good to get you home?
whya2ndaccount you’re right... we got the tiny spare that’s only good for 40 mph or under.
Have a 17 Outback just got it in June. Having winter tires and rims installed tomorrow. Will try to replace skinny spare with summer tire and rim. Thanks.
