For anyone curious, a hygroscopic salt is basically any salt capable of bonding water. The droplets then clump to form clouds then it becomes rain. I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure the salt is recovered after the rain falls and is filtered out by: - Heating the water after it falls - Adding (non-toxic) additives that bind to it so that a bond with the additive and the salt are stronger than the salt and the water, making it simply fall out of solution as a solid

I am outside everyday. I see days where there is a grid pattern of “trails” from planes. Then there are days where you don’t see a single one. But, everyday I see planes fly by with CON trails, condensation trails. They always dissipate and make a “tail” from the plane that stays about the same length. For anyone curious, a hygroscopic salt is basically any salt capable of bonding water. It forms a special kind of bond that's strong enough to keep the water attached to it but weak enough that it can be broken with a little heat. They put the salt up there where it bonds to water, clumping it together. It basically takes the moisture in the air and concentrates it into droplets. The droplets then clump to form clouds then it becomes rain.
I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure the salt is recovered after the rain falls and is filtered out by:
- Heating the water after it falls
- Adding (non-toxic) additives that bind to it so that a bond with the additive and the salt are stronger than the salt and the water, making it simply fall out of solution as a solid
