Some of my best therapies and medicine has been Tailor-made for me at a compounding pharmacy. I’m happy to hear it could hurt big pharmaceutical companies and their pocket book.

    I’m thankful for compounding pharmacies

I'm thankful for compounding pharmacies. They quite literally saved my life when my doctor and I discovered I had serious adverse reactions to the standard thyroid med. My doctor prescribed a bio-identical medicine that's available only from a compounding pharmacy. Within 3 months, many of the adverse effects had cleared up. The only downside is my insurance doesn't cover cost of compounded medicine.

My medicine that I take for breast cancer is made at a compounding pharmacy. Amoxicillin, Doxycycline and Metformin combined. My insurance company will NOT pay for it because the antibiotic is in “powder form”. Also, the medicine combination is considered “experimental”. Even though they pay for any of these 3 commonly prescribed drugs if taken individually!
Oh… my “experimental” medicine that I pay out of pocket for, in combination with diet changes and other supplements, has contributed to the tumor shrinking from 29mm to
5 mm in 2ish years. No chemo or radiation. So 🖕to insurance companies AND big pharma!

Am I correct to assume that you were allergic to some of the "extra" ingredients in the standard medication, such as the preservatives?

Insurance companies often deny payment for compound prescriptions at the pharmacy too

In all my years as an ICU nurse and critical care nurse practitioner, I have never used a drug from a crash cart that was compounded by a compounding pharmacy.

And big pharma is in bed with insurance companies too which is why insurance companies often don’t cover compound pharmacy meds

Can we also speak about health payers have a spending ratio requirement, which means they have a profit cap. The work around to this is they started aquiring PBM's which don't have any requirements/caps, which means they can become new profit stream, and as such PBM's have started to aquire specialty pharmacy businesses, which that's where all the money is at.

Ok but I want to ask:
What are the ingredients used in a compounding pharmacy ?
Aren't they still the same Petro chemical based ingredients used in other factory made Pharma drugs ?
I'm super curious, so please if you can say, do.
For now I'm sticking to naturally occurring Herbal & Botanical ingredients either used singly or in a blended compound.
Been around since the Creation & employed properly they work very well, as the Creator intended.

I'm guessing that the ingredients used by compounding are the simplest available standard compounds that have been around for decades and not always the synthetic versions. There is probably also no need to add a lot of stabilizers and preservatives since the compounds are intended to be used right away.
