This is an excellent rod. I have had it for about 1-1/2 year now and absolutely love this rod. It is a great combo set that is responsive and easy to use.
Cool.. i just bought this reel from a pawn shop, for $40, gonna try 15lb braid on it (1st time using braid, i hope i bought a good weight/product, havent ever used braid b4) ... it is still a brand new reel, so i think i got a good deal. THANKS for the reassuring video bro..!
I’d go heavier, 10-20 lb braid works great on spinning reels but 30-50 is better on casting reels. Less backlash. I’ve currently got 30 on mine, throwing top water moving frogs, buzz phrogs, flexi frogs. Cheers
I got this rod recommended to me on Reddit and it looked decent so I bought it then I came looking for videos but you did a solid break down of the rod and gave me confidence in what I bought great video man
Exactly. Especially throwing 1/2 or bigger. But 3/4 oz Texas rig it will throw it a crossed the lake.. Let us know how it works out for you. Love mine. Just got a Lews Hack Attack combo
With the cast, do you apply any tension on the spool to control rotation with your thumb at all please? Love the color combo, easy to distinguish from a pile of black rods. Also, what is the line rating on the rod? Under $100 or so is a great deal. Thanks for the video.
When I’m casting I’ve gotten to where I’m keeping my thumb on the spool, mostly when I loosen the spool tension more and lower the brakes for longer casting but that just takes practice. Also sometime the fish hit it right when it hits the water so you feel the strike and not the bait falling. What are you gonna throw in yours? I generally run 10-15 lb line.
It should be fine. Heavier cover use heavier line, If your gonna be throwing a Texas rig I’d go 12-15lb. Just because you rub on lots of cover. 10 is great for moving baits, lipless cranks as long as not in thick grass, 10 is great for deep crank baits especially just got remember to reel slowly so it gets deep.

Thanks for the video Marvin. I like the Lew's Smash rod and reel combo. You can never have too many rod and reels.

Great fishing rod and reel good review
Got the rod side of this combo as someone had stolen the reel. Paired it with a Daiwa Fuego and it’s a great feeling combo
Great reel on a good rod.
What lure are you using in this video ?
If this reel had an aluminum frame it would be great!
Got it for Christmas. My drag star was stuck. Had to strip it and oil it up🥴
So, do u think 15lb braid is a good line to put on mine? (Just bought it today)

That’s funny. You are the first person to mention them. 😂 It was quiet when I got there, 5 mins later It like they know I’m there.
Cheers
@@greatamericansurvival 😂definitely would have gotten annoying after a while but cheers god bless you and take care ❤️🙏
Can you run 20 pound line on it?
Based on the rod, it says up to 20 lb flouro or 30lb braid.
I put 10lb flouro.. do you think my line is to thin?

Can the Mach smash be use in saltwater
Offshore fishing would do. I think the braid capacity is 30/110 i believe, So its capable
@@otb.lucccc I have 50 on there
What line are you using?
12 pound Flouro, from P-line it’s not the best but works well.
Where did you get it for $85?
It’s at bass pro on sale rn
I just found a brand new one at a pawn shop near me, only one they had, and got it for $40. (The reel only tho).
