I’ve had this bag for a few months now and it looks like they’ve redesigned the shoulder strap pad to something closer to what you said you would like it to be.
Hello. Great review! I have been eyeing this bag for some time now. I currently have saddleback leathers satchel in medium and i find the size of that almost perfect. The only reason i have not pulled the trigger on bexars porter satchel is its size. So to my question. What do you think of the size? Is it too big for everyday urban carry?. I like you wont be using the "backpack" mode.
The Porter is not overly large yet it's much bigger in feel than the medium SBL satchel. It's more on par with the large SBL satchel, size wise that is. I don't have any problem using it as an EDC satchel for the job. On weekends I like to carry a smaller bag for essentials. Thanks for watching!
+James Crane hmm, the leather used to make this bag looks so good, way better than saddlebacks in my opinion. Thank you for the reply. I have one last question about this bag. Those copper rivets. Are the edges on them sharp? Like, do the scratch the leather?
+Aleksander Jøkling the leather is utterly fantastic, a far cry from chrome tanned leather in my opinion. The copper rivets are all hand set and smooth to the touch, they don't scratch the leather. I doubt there is much that can hurt this beautiful thick vegetable tanned leather.
+Calvin Green I had to re-shoot because my tripod was too shaky which I didn't notice until I saw it on a big screen. I took off the ring to do a little yard work earlier.
There are various FaceBook groups for buying and selling certain brands or even all brands of leather goods available, also the well known online auction sites. I use all of these methods.
Jonathan Swindal the Craft&Lore Waylander Satchel is pretty much an exact copy of Bexar Goods Porter Satchel but at nearly twice the price. Both made from the same leather, both hand stitched... I really didn't see a need to purchase it, and I believe they only made a few built to order.
I've been in search for the "perfect bag" (or two) for me for years. Owned a few Saddleback's, Marlondo's, Satchel & Page for a minute, a variety of Etsy bags, a few canvas (Bradley Mountain, etc.) the Leather Built Bunyan Briefcase (gorgeous, but too big and a bit too noisy for a classroom with that type of clasps), and now have a Kendal & Hyde Brief. I LOVE the function of K/H but the leather looks almost shiny and plasticky even though I know it's not. Looking at the all leather Vermilyea Pelle (Dublin) and the Bexar Porter. Hoping one of those will be a permanent solution! I like the less polished look as you can see from my choices above. I've enjoyed buying and selling, but kinda hoping one will land long-term for me. I keep watching all your recommendations!
As always, great review. If I want something this rugged, at that price point, I'd go with SBL any day over this.

Hi Greg, how do you like the bag?
Thanks, James. So about 4-4.4mm vs 3.2mm? Is this about the thickest leather bag you have come across? This seems almost bulletproof!

+James Crane Fantastic! Thanks again for your replies. You have convinced me to pull the trigger, i will buy this bag very soon!
Great video redux! What happened to the blue ring you normally wear? It's pretty slick...

Hello. I was wondering where did you get your key holder? The elongated fish hook looking thing.

Compared to a SBL briefcase (made within the last two years), which bag has thicker leather? Thanks.
bfregosi Bexar Goods uses 10-11oz. Leather on this bag, which is much thicker then the 8oz. Leather SBL uses.
What sized Chicago screw did you put into the strap?
Greg S it’s a 1/4 inch long screw.
Where do you buy secondary leather goods like this ?

They took my money and never sent my backpack, a preorder, they never answer the emails I sent them.
That is a very good bag. Pls share with me bag insert link. I will buy both bag and bag insert
Johnny Wong thank you for watching, here is the link you asked for www.etsy.com/listing/488477095/ready-to-ship-khaki-purse-insert
Hey Jim, found a very similar bag by Craft & Lore. Curious if you'd be able to do a review of that one?

I was curious about the high price, but I trust your assessment! Wise! Thank you, Jim.

What size insert is that?
14.5" wide by 4.5" deep by 7" tall
James Crane Thank you james!
Hey, one more question. Does this bag stands on its own?
Yes it does stand on it's own, easily.
