Great video. The footage is taken right as the sun is cresting the mountain, which would put it at about 6:30 in the morning. Still makes a big difference, but 6:30am on a Sunday on any give week wouldn't equate to much traffic and full parking lots.
@@razen944 Exactly. I just looked that up before seeing your comment. At the time of posting of viddy (May 14) sunrise was 5:12. So you're right on about being shot at 5:30am, and it could have been Sunday morning.
WOW. Fantastic work people of Kelowna showing the world what lockdown should look like. The sooner every city does this the sooner we can get back to normal. Stay safe everyone.
A few people have asked about the timing of the capture of these shots. All clips, except for the airport, were captured in April during the peak of stay-at-home efforts and were captured between 6am and 11am.
Shawn Talbot timing is everything with this. I would say 6am on a couple of Sunday’s. I’ve worked every weekday throughout this so called “pandemic” and there’s been cars and people everyday around.
I was thinking the same thing. It's it crazy how much concrete there is. It's hard to imagine that the Kelowna needed to build so many streets and parking lots in the video, but I've seen Kelowna during rush hour.
I was watching this video and this was my question. I said to myself, "This is insane, you basically have to be a pilot to get that kind of permission." So then I checked out Shawn's website and found out he is actually a pilot.
Thank you for the question. Normally it is, yes. However, I am licensed by Transport Canada, operate a registered drone and was in contact with NavCanada and CYLW tower controllers prior to and during the flights to capture these shots.
I live here. Where is the non stop valley trafic. Right put the hoax in the spotlight in a museum. For our kids too look back on and shake there heads.
@Alex M He (hopefully) means that the video as an archive is disingenuous. The streets are bustling save for a few areas and parking lots. If people look back on this they might actually think the city came to a standstill which just isn't true.
Amazing video, Shawn! Would it be OK if I use small parts of it in my upcoming video as a background illustration of where I lived when I talk about Kelowna? I'll include a credit, obviously. Let me know! :)
Great film Shawn! That must have been quite a few early mornings. I was thinking of doing something like. I've shot a few drone video's in and around Kelowna. What drone did you use?
Very misleading. Of course nobody is gonna be out on the streets at the crack of dawn in summer and maybe a weekend. Sure a bunch of parking lots r empty since the business doesn't open at like 630 am. I live near the corner of hwy 97 and highway 33 and there was barely a difference.
Nice . Wheres the mailman delivering my packages. You picked a good time to film. Dead untill people wake up. I see the photoshop techniques you have from filming 7 yrs for campion are paying off. So what did they pay you?
Gorgeous yet haunting perspective of our home . Well done 👍🏻
Brilliant music to go with the eerieness of the scenes!

WOW - incredible job Shawn. Something to look back on and hopefully never have to see again in our lifetime
How come every time I had to go out for necessities there were so many vehicles? Beautiful video but I have not seen it this dead on the road!
These video collections were shot at the crack of dawn, which in April was around 5:30ish am. Everyone was still sleeping or eating breakfast

Go to the 1:38 marker. That's a 4am sunrise coming over the mountain. Streets of Kelowna are always dead at 4am.

What about the airport footage? I am so curious if that's even something someone can get permission for?
Amazing! Glad I have decided to come home!
We were there weeks ago and people are all around these areas
and when the humans are gone all that's left is a concrete jungle.

@@LindseyMonica Kelowna's street & traffic design is fucking godawful lol
I work 5 days a week, at any given time of day being a casual.
I have never once seen any of these roads like this.
Amezing very beautyful city
Incredible shots!
Great video! Loved this, thanks for sharing! :)
Great video, really puts it into perspective how crazy and unprecedented these times really are. Awesome edit.
We have always been in crazy times. Just leaving your house before the pandemic was crazy times 😂
How did you get am SFOC to fly the airport? Everyone I know thats tried got denied.

Awesome work as always Shawn!
How did you film the airport? Isn't that prohibited?

Great job! Really beautiful work
Hauntingly beautiful!
Well done, this is beautiful!

Beautiful job!
I was waiting for the zombies to rush in. Sadly disappointed.
💀
I’ll be visiting Kelowna for a short period soon, are all the restaurants closed as well as the public transportations? 😨
Buses are still running perfectly fine! Although some of the regular schedules have changed and some restaurants are open for delivery
Well done! Bravo!

This is amazing.
Wordless!
Huh? Where's the footage of the dude yesterday jamming on his horn at the Harvey intersection because people weren't driving fast enough.?
Beautiful Apocalypse
Get the picture? Canadians are gone. The country is empty , ready for the next landlords and tenants to come and take it.
