Nice video, I used fish the Wear at the sands in Durham and Chester le Street waters, 20 years ago till work took me away no back north fancying giving it a try again.
Great video well done - you’re a good angler - also a dog lover you can tell you loved Carla - I imagine you were on Chester level Street water here - all the best
Hi thanks. RUclips makes me look a far better angler than I really am believe me! Carla is a big miss, I'm still sort of convinced that she wasn't even a dog but a kind of transcended higher spirit wrapped in a very furry coat!
How u doing enjoy ur vids was just wondering do u get free access to the rivers u fishing because they are really expensive the amounts a different water u cover ?
Hi, I'm good thanks. I don't get free access to fishing but I'm a member of three fishing clubs which for a reasonable yearly fee gives me access to lots of different stretches of different rivers. Most of my fishing is on these stretches but every now and then I will buy a day ticket somewhere different. It can be very expensive to access the best rivers but at some times of the year its better value.
Cracking fish rob 🙌🎣! What set up are you using with the switch rod and what line do you use? Thinking about buying and just trying to get some ideas! All the best tight lines for when you next go out
I use a Barrio switch line rated one line class lower than the rod. They are cheap and cast really well. Then I use an 8ft polyleader (sink rate dependent on water height) then from a tippet ring I attach about another 5 feet of 15lb maxima. I always fish a dropper too.
@@abakerslife thanks for getting back to me rob, I shall do some research! I’ve got a few days coming up on the Tyne in October , can’t wait, tight lines 🎣
Hey Rob great day on the Wear , Phil and I tried to fish it one time when it was chocolate brown and nearly out of its banks. Just our luck I guess. By the way I answered your text but haven’t heard back yet. Let me know if you have any more questions
Hi Phil I'm pleased to hear from you. I haven't received the reply would mind resending it by email. My address is (all on word) the black sheep baker @ gmail .com - I really like the Wear but it has had no proper water at all for months so I have been searching elsewhere for fish.
Hi, youtube won't let me put up an email I'm afraid. Bacon curing video to come soon, it's dead easy to do. I can answer your questions on here as best I can though I an by no means an expert on the Findhorn
@@abakerslife Great on the bacon front - will deffo be giving that a go. The question about the findhorn was more the booking process and the price per rod per day - a slightly vulgar question admittedly (hence I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable by asking publicly) but it's a river I've wanted to fish for ages and assume september and the back-end fishing is slightly more reasonable than july/august?
I booked my tickets directly with the estate but tickets for the beat I was fishing on that video (Drynachan) are available on fishpal. It's not cheap during the summer run as I guess it's prime time for grilse but definitely better value in September. Overall prices for day beats on the Findhorn are not too bad in comparison to the Tweed or some of the other major salmon rivers.
@@abakerslife a very fair answer, and thanks for getting back to me mate. I'm lucky enough to fish the Halladale every summer for a week in August (fairly prime time, water dependant), but the Findhorn has always had an appeal as I've seen old phtos of my grandparents fish it decades ago and your video really showcased its appeal. You should definitely give the Halladale a go next season if you can and you enjoy that sort of fishing - very water dependant but always a stupid fish knocking about by that time of the year!.
Great to see you getting a chunky Wear sea trout Rob. A fabulous river when it’s got water.

Work always gets in the way of fishing, hope you get back into it again.

Brilliant Rob as always, was so pissed off I missed seeing you on Wednesday, you saw my son ,will catch up one day , keep them coming 👏👏🥃
Thanks, nice lad your son 👍
Nice one, well done and it's hard after you catch 6 in a day and then it goes back to normal again but hard work pays off:)
Thanks, I keep my expectations low so I don't mind coming back down to earth.
@@abakerslife Well you dont seem to be the kind of man that suddenly have your nose 2 miles up in the air so i am not very worried about it:)

Great vid mate , what's app please giving you river heights etc ?
Hi thanks, it's the rivers app. It's for kayakers but it's great because you can add different gauges from different rivers onto a favourites screen.
Add sliced garden tomatoes and mayo laced with horseradish 😂
Yes good advice, next time I won't slum it.
Hiya mate, love your videos. I was wondering if you had an email I could contact you on as I have a few questions re the findhorn and your bacon!
