Hi Rick. From what I understand these rotary valve trumpets are played quite a bit in Europe. They essentially have the same valves as french horns, which helps give the horn a warmer sound. This particular horn is a German Amrein-brand C trumpet. Here's some other info about them: germanbrass.com/amrein.shtml
Rick S I like this rotary horn for German repertoire-- especially soft excerpts from Brahms and Schumann and Mozart. I've also really enjoyed playing the Karl Pilss Sonata on this Amrein. The sound from the American Bach horns that I play seem to project and cut through a little bit better for other (especially loud) repertoire, so I suppose for me it depends on the rep! :)
What kind of crazy horn is that? One thing I did during my years playing the trumpet, was study other people's embouchure. Everyone's is different, like fingerprints.
Agreed, I love seeing other embouchures and how people play differently. This is an Amrein-brand rotary valve C trumpet. It's a German horn, and here are some others like it: germanbrass.com/amrein.shtml

Very nice playing, ********Stars from me!
Thanks for listening! I agree with you on the bass trumpet video...not my forte! Too big of a mouthpiece for me.
bravo, I saw maynard ferguson play once and Doc serverson was amazing last year, who is your favorite?
different looking horn. Would love to hear the specifics on it and what the history of that design is. Great sound from it. Good job to both of you.

Thanks for the info. Curious which you prefer, the German Rotary or the American Valve?
