I have all ways thought the DS2 giants are hollow with the holes on their faces being the curse mark, and the reason they retaliated against Drangleic was to get their souls back which where taken by Vendrick.

Your corporeal form isn't what defines your race in Dark Souls, it is only your soul that does. The body is just a vessel for souls, or a shackle if you consider the Vertebra Shackle in DS3. It is also why the the so called Everlasting Dragon in DS2 is known as a prop because it's just a giant soul inside it, it's not an actual Everlasting Dragon.

Ever considered that Anastasia had to know the Rite of Kindling in order to buff the Firelink Shrine bonfire to 20 Estus.
She does so after you revive her and give Frampt the Lordvessel.
This is why I reckon she chose to be de-tongued.
20 estus also seems to be a reference to Velka's double-cross (20 is XX in Roman Numerals - the number of *Judgment* in Tarot)
This little fact saved me in my no bonfires run, you really learn to appreciate kindling when you can't do it

what always struck me as weird about one particular firekeeper is the (presumably female) Dragon of Ash Lake stoicly accepting her tail being cut off to become the weapon of a randomly visiting undead. She seemingly does not aggro no matter what you do to her, even while in her Covenant.

I honestly much prefer Elden Ring fleshing this stuff out. Dark Souks often feels like a facade with nothing much behind it. The lore is so vague that it reallydoes seem like they didn’t really have much figured out. Its the top level of a mystery without any indication of a deeper truth

I don’t think Nito was a giant. Yes he is huge, but he is also an amalgamation of a bunch of different corpses. A bit of a necromancer who had the ability to increase his size by adding undead to himself.

I know this is a bit off topic but I once wrote to vaati about souls and moorcock, the eternal champion and the multiverse - he ignored it of course - Miyazaki himself literally sited these as an inspiration for his own work. No one had ever covered Moorcocks eternal champion cycle and souls games.
I think it'd be interesting for more original interpretations rather than those agreed to already on forum posts.
