Bearded Bob! I’m moving to a house next month and had been in-visioning a set up like yours for the longest time. Shrimp and guppies. Currently keeping a fish room in my apartment and an expansion is coming soon. What kind of substrate are you using? It looks like you use the same kind in every tank.
@@ZachAttack1661 Congrats! Yes, you are observant! I use eco complete in almost every tank. Its good stuff. I pick it up on amazon, you save even more money if you add it to a subscribe and save through them. Usually less than 20 bucks for 20 pounds, delivered to your door.
Bearded Bob's Fishroom Sweet! Wanting to have a rack of 10’s for shrimp and selective breeding for guppies. I also want a rack of 40’s for pleco breeding and guppy grow outs. Still fiddling around with how I want to set things up.
@@ZachAttack1661 If I could do it again, all tanks would be drilled for an overflow. 10 gal tanks are hard to drill without cracking... id maybe do 20 gal tanks, or 20 longs instead of 10s
That's how I did it. Slowly with normal water changes, the TDS of my tap water was in the 700s. I started with 5%ish water changes with ro remineralized to 300. Over a few months, I reduced it to about 220, and that's where it has been now for years.
Once the water comes out of the ro filter, it should be close to 0tds. Then, just mix in small amounts of the salt until it reaches your desired tds. And thats it.
I want to switch from tap to r.o for my neos I got salty shrimp gh kh + I’m going to set to 250 that’s what my tank is now but I’m worried the harness will be different my harness now is about a 8.5-9
For the neos how did you make the switch, can you go through how to create that pump system you made?

Hi Bob, would ro system control phosphate and silica levels?
Silica yes, but phosphate no. I believe you can purchase a phosphate reactor to deal with that though.
I want to.switch to RO water but I'm not sure how? Should I do small changes at a time? Do I remineralize to.match the TDs?

Just make sure you change it over slowly. Try changing about a gallon of the new water per day to start
I was going to change it as 15% a week until it’s switched I also have over 100 babies and a bunch of berried shrimp so I want to do it really slow
Do you think it’s better day by day to change it over or just do water changes with it until it’s switched over
Either way would probably be fine for Neos.
