- We do a little railfanning at the Amtrak station in Wilmington, Delaware thence we capture Septa PM Rush Hour action at 30th Street Station Philadelphia getting a bunch of push pull trains (caller bomber trains by employees) and MU’s. (totally spoiled by all of the Silverliner 5’s I saw). Gorgeous warm February day.

its sad they dont have the Great Valley Flyer at 530pm anymore.
Great day for railfanning Wilmington and 30th St Station Philadelphia. Both offering a plethora of Amtrak and SEPTA trains and equipment. Thanks Tim for a nice review and commentary😀💚
Tyler Mac Boston baby yeah
Another great little primer on types of cars and engines of SEPTA and Amtrak for we novices. We've had the opposite weather along Front Range Colorado this Winter...Pretty sure record setting sub-zero and sub-freezing temperatures at least in terms of frequency and duration. Plenty of snow here too already this year, and March and April are the #1 and #2 months for accumulation on average, although April has plenty of days in the 50s, 60s and even 70s and always lots of sunshine.

Silverliner V: The Railfan's choice.
1:28 all Amtrak ACS-64 Electric Locomotive are equipped with the Gramer White E Bell located on the right side of all the ACS-64 Locomotives!
Really enjoying your excursions!
I miss all the express trains pre-Covid. Had Bombardiers on Trenton Express. West Trenton Express was to Bethayrs
Great video. I was just there at 30th Street on the 20th
The upper level at 30th Street looks just enough like Newark Penn that the first time I arrived at 30th via SEPTA rather than Amtrak I thought I had entered another dimension.
Fun fact one of the Rocky movies was filmed at Newark Penn on the platform idk why but you’d think it was 30th St.
He’s not wrong, it actually does look a bit like 30th.
Thank You!
Sorry I missed you in my hometown and at our beautiful and historic station! Keep up the outstanding work! Love your videos!
2:23 Septa says GO PHILLIES!!!
Go Phillies!!!
My home on some Sundays in the summer when I go to see Blue Rocks games. Also a great place to watch Amtrak regional trains run between Wilmington to Baltimore
Damn, I was in Philly riding Septa yesterday and I missed meeting you again. Btw, I was on that second Wawa push pull set.
Beautiful light yesterday! Great video and variety of stations. Cool!
5:14 - This is the first place I saw one of these Acela Express trains up close beside me (on that same track) in Spring 2005.
Yes. Me too! Those automatic announcements are like SIRI. Especially the one on the Silverliner V.
Thanks for show casing my hometown. Love that 30th street!!
Yes!! That’s where I’m from!!!!!
Used to be called the “R” trains.. R1, R2, and so on….
Those SL V's really need a good Power washing
SimmonsI knew the soul of NYP. Danny Simmons! I was able to record his announcements including the Broadway Ltd.
I recall several noteworthy announcers at Penn Station. One had sort of an Irish accent. One bellowed out Newark, Trenton, Philadelphia,, Wilmington, Baltimore, Washington!!!!!
@@3985uprrThat Warminster train should've showed its blue LTD display.
Great video!
As always, great video.
i love how they designed Suburban and Jefferson stations to be like metro stations. it's hard to believe commuter trains run thru it.!!!
22:16 - The towns/stations of Media and Elwyn (West Chester too) are forgotten, replaced by a station location that doubles as advertising .
Can't believe they were running those Silverliner 5's down to the airport. They usually use that GE junk on those runs.
I forgot to mention another usher named Freddie Ulfo. One day, I ran into him into him. He was a red cap! I asked him, what happened? He said that he earned more money as a red cap than as an usher.
also, the CoachUSA Newark Airport Express buses have an extremely foul phrase on the sides by the door... they have all the stops listed, and one of them happens to be "Grand Central Station." a travesty.!
@Retired Railfan Horn Guy That Warminster train should've showed its blue LTD display.
My train is in this video...but didn't see you 😢.
7:00 Those automated announcements use the same voice they use (or at least used to, they might be replacing them) on the MBTA Commuter Rail.
Yes they do. Equally soul-less. Also same voice programming my Roku tv. Drives me insane.
@@3985uprrWhat about limited trains going to Warminster, Wilmington or Newark?
Retired Railfan Horn Show Guy, I gotta tell you something.
I didn’t know 9595 EXP to bryn mawr was a push pull. I thought 9593 was push pull EXP to Wayne. Or did they add more push pull?😊
Just 2 on that line now
What about limited trains to Wilmington or Newark?
@@3985uprrWhat about limited trains to Warminster or Wilmington?
i saw JT today. it was freezing, we had some 7s. not sure if you heard about his little M3 episode last night... P Wire issue threw him into emergency at RVC and he had to limp it from RVC to Baldwin and then park up at Freeport.
I heard. He’s not a fan of those like Paul is
@@3985uprr yeah he wasn't too happy...
@@3985uprr Paul LOVES them tho
@@evangouldtransit Big day Monday. 664 starts running from Penn.
@@3985uprr yes.!!! it's going to be tough getting used to i feel like.
22:44 - Can different types of railcars be mixed in a train?
They don’t mix the MU’s anymore
@@3985uprrThe Silverliner 4s can however MU with the 5s, for towing purposes, and equipment moves.
What equiptment was this footage shot with?
iPhone 12 Pro. Why?
By the way, are they K5L horns, or K5LA?? m I close??
Silverliner 5’s are K3LA’s
@@3985uprr6480 should've showed its blue LTD display.
26:46 - What are these railcars called? They do not look like any version of SILVERliner.
Bombardier built push pull coaches
@@3985uprrThose express coaches are the oldest on SEPTA's express fleet.
17:40 - A stainless steel train, proudly built in Philadelphia by Budd company.
It’s a GE.
Nice railroad station (except for the name).
I like it
@@3985uprr6480 is the Warminster Limited.
@@3985uprrI gotta ask you something.
Did you know that the capitol of Delaware, Dover, is the ONLY state capitol in the US that has no airline service? That is why Biden is famous for taking the train instead of flying. Of course he could have used Dover, AFB I guess but he didn't. I think that is still the case unless they have made Dover, AFB a joint use airport. That was not the case the last time I operated out of there but that wa a long time ago so who knows. I know they have allowed civil airplanes to land there for special occasions but I have no idea of it's status anymore. I am full of useless information. lol
Dover is one of those weird state capitols. It’s capitol building doesn’t even look normal. The Acela only takes about an hour and 15 minutes to get to Wilmington from DC. That’s an agreeable commute.
@@3985uprrDon’t forget the incorporation laws. Isn’t there a whole bunch of Fortune 500 companies all incorporated to the same address/P.O. Box in Delaware? It’s an odd place indeed.

The Silverliner V's are ugly and poorly designed. The GE'S looked much better when new. The fact that Septa designed the cars with a dangerous railfan window that can't be used, and the truck failure debacle shows the poor design.
As a Brit what is the point of the bell notice loco hauled trains have them but not EMUs? .have spent many happy vacation days railfanning in the USA.
