Your videos are really helpful!
Keep clears are advisory, unlike yellow box junctions which are mandatory.
The only time this would be a serious fault is if other road users were significantly inconvenienced. From the look of the video, the junction itself was still clear, so should only be a minor fault.
Stopping on keep clear road markings during a driving test may or may not result in a failure, depending on the circumstances. While it is not illegal, the examiner expects candidates to demonstrate common sense and consideration for other road users. If you find yourself in a situation where you inadvertently stop on keep clear markings, it is crucial to acknowledge the mistake to the examiner. The decision to pass or fail will ultimately depend on the impact of your actions.
If your action of stopping on keep clear markings obstructs another road user or occurs due to following the preceding vehicle too closely, it may lead to a failed test. Even if your action doesn't directly affect other vehicles, it can still result in a failure if it compromises the overall flow of traffic or demonstrates a lack of judgment and awareness.
It is important to remember that the driving test assesses not only your ability to follow rules and regulations but also your capacity to make sound decisions that prioritize the safety and convenience of all road users. Therefore, if you make the mistake of stopping on keep clear markings, acknowledging it to the examiner shows accountability and awareness of your error. This openness can contribute positively to the overall evaluation of your driving performance.

This isn't even a fault! She creeps past the keep clear box and leaves tyres and tarmac from the vehicle in front - therefore, not in a dangerous position. Not a good video.
Well yes they would, at the end of the day every person gets/should get the same treatment and the test isn’t over until the engine is switched off, a fault is a fault wether it’s when you start or finish, I understand that leniency is a thing but when your driving weapons there can’t be any

This instructor is wrong…. This is not a fail. It’s only a fail if she blocks someone coming in or out of the junction. If nobody attempts to enter or leave the junction whilst she’s blocking , it is a driver (‘minor’) fault.
Stopping on keep clear road markings during a driving test may or may not result in a failure, depending on the circumstances. While it is not illegal, the examiner expects candidates to demonstrate common sense and consideration for other road users. If you do stop on keep clear markings, it is important to acknowledge the mistake to the examiner. The decision to pass or fail will depend on the impact of your actions. If you obstruct another road user or stop due to following the preceding vehicle too closely, it may lead to a failed test, even if it doesn't directly affect other vehicles.
In summary, during a driving test, stopping on keep clear road markings is not illegal but is generally discouraged. As a driving test candidate, it is important to exercise common sense and consideration for other road users. While the specific outcome will depend on the circumstances, if your actions impede other drivers or if you stop in a keep clear area due to following too closely, it may result in a failed test. It is crucial to acknowledge any mistakes to the examiner and understand the potential consequences. As a driving instructor, it is their responsibility to highlight the potential risks and remind candidates of the importance of adhering to road markings.
that’s the same highway i learned on and take everyday to work. Exact exit and everything
The fleeting expression I saw on the instructor's face when she made a big mistake was a grimace.
how was that a fail? wasn't she past the keep clear?
Don’t think she checked mirrors or even indicated that she was pulling over. Also, she parked way too close to a junction therefore hindering the view of anyone pulling out…from what I can tell, she was not parked in the ‘keep clear box’ …
Two things culminated in the failure. When parking, your not allowed to park within a distance of 5feet from a corner or exit, blocking the view of someone coming around that corner.
Second is stopping within 1foot of a kerb. This person was beyond that.
Two points of failure I think.
Highway Code (UK) says not to park within 10 metres of a junction (not 5 ft) and how far away from the kerb depends on conditions.
You literally just made up the 5ft rule 😂😂😂😂
Both are wrong, the reason she failed is because she stopped in the keep clear box. This means cars wanting to use the intersection to her left cannot
Within a distance of 5feet from a corner or exit?? Well then people should be fined more then. I got delivery busses and vehicles blocking a lot of corners in my neighborhood, but you don’t see them getting “failed” or fined. Sometimes the rules are so bs tbh. At least the learning driver didn’t abruptly stop there.
@@Day-vg1bh How do you know, looked like there was just enough room.
While the correct answer to this question is "stopping in the keep clear zone" that is NOT a fail. It's a minor at best. The keep clear zone has been paid for by the car park owner. It isn't for safety at all, it's for convenience so people can get in and out of the car park quicker. This woman should sue this examiner!
The attendant giving me the exam failed me on my first practical test because I had spun my wheels before backing up, while I was performing parallel parking at the very end…
She didn’t put the hand brake on? She does stop on a single white line though if that’s where she’s supposed stop then can she really be penalised for that?? Could also be because she didn’t use her indicator to show where she would be stopping
she's joining a queue of cars, not pulling over and guidelines don't insist on you applying your handbrake when you're sat in traffic anymore.
How is that failure?..wtf
