In the late 70s Jeff and Mike Porcaro would play on Friday night at Dontes in North Hollywierd with Larry Carlton and Greg Mathisen. The room was half full and these guys would cut loose and it was a dream. Jeff played an unmiked kit and they would open with a burning 20 minute version of Room 335. LC commented often about how he looked forward to jamming with the boys after a tough week of paying jingles and man he was so good. It was a phenomenal opportunity and was some of the greatest hours of my life. Eat your heart out. RIP Porcaro Bros.

Would be wonderful to hear Jeff, Mike, Larry and Greg together in a small club. At least I heard Jeff and Mike with Toto twice in concert. Also Larry a couple of times with his own band. Great memories! After one gig I told Larry, that I just had listened to one of his records with Jeff. He got quite sentimental, smiled and said "good old times". 🥰😉

As with so many artists who leave us way too early....we all sit and wonder....what more...could they ve given us? What other amazing music and impacts, cold they have provided. With Jeff gone...we all got robbed of greatness. there will NEVER be...another Jeff Porcaro. Rest in peace to Mike, Jeff, and their father Joe.

I never met Jeff but I admire his work immensely. I had met Mike on two occasions and he was just such a fine gentleman and musician. Jeff was quoted as saying Mike was the best drummer in the family so I just wish we could have watched him in action. I read a story where David won a bet that Mike would know a drum technique that Simon didn't know. It turned out to be a French roll, which Mike defined and demonstrated.

@@HJ-fb8rl Mike was very cool and quiet. When the rest of the band came out to greet fans in the back stage party, Mike would chill with his wife in the bus, then come out for a quick hello. We sat with his wife during the concert and she spoke with us like she knew us for 20 years. When I greeted Mike and we discussed family, I'm of Italian descent as well, he was thrilled at how common our homes and traditions were. Then I told him I played along with Mr. Porcaro's Instructional Tape, and demonstrated how Mr. P. counted down, Mike kissed me on the cheek. He was truly all about family, which could be said about all the Toto members I personally met. At another concert around 2007, Mike was walking around the venue after the concert (Mandalay Bay) holding his son Jeff. He invited my brother and me up to the hotel party, but we had another engagement. We met many times after than and it was always the same, soft-spoken Mike who would thank us for attending their concerts. God Bless Mike, Jeff, Miles, and Pop Porcaro.

I’m familiar with Jeff’s session work. Will you link that interview? I found that quote from Jeff in several places, including Mike’s wiki page, an interview with Jeff from a drummer, and a few other sites. It doesn’t go into specifics, and Jeff may have said it in that self deprecating way he had. It seems like he meant teenaged (or child) Mike, but again, he didn’t specify, and since they’re print, not video, we don’t hear his tone of voice. TIA

However, the search for one goes on and I do hope there is success in finding one. It is terminal but sufferers of this, such as Stephen Hawking (look him up) have gone on to live long lives in spite of it.
