Kiefer Sutherland is Donald Sutherland’s son. His grandfather is Tommy Douglas who is a Canadian Hero for his role in being responsible for our national health insurance programme.
Tommy Douglas was also famous for his supporting of eugenics. He also thought that mentally ill people and homosexuals were defective, feeling they should be institutionalized. Far from being. Also Shirley Douglas was banned for entering the United States because of her involvement with the Black panther s. She was caught running weapons
I know others have mentioned him, but he is one of my all-time favourite actors. Christopher Plummer is the only Canadian to have received an Academy Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and two Tony Awards. He has also received a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, an Independent Spirit Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Since 1959, he was in 115+ movies (10+ for voice, 1 documentary and 2 shorts), 50+ TV shows, and 20+ theatre productions. On top of all that Christopher Plummer has been in 4 video games.
Most of those named were from American movies or US TV shows. There are a large number of Canadian actors who are well known for Canadian shows that have done well internationally like Murdoch Mysteries, Heartland, Red Green etc and other series and films: Paul Gross, Yannick Bisson, Matt Frewer, Graham Greene, Patrick McKenna, Bruce Greenwood, Eric Peterson, Colin Mochrie, Will Sasso, Elliot Page, Amber Marshall, Wendy Crewson and the late great Wendel Meldrum to name a very few
Pretty good list. Some notable missing names are Tommy Chong, Nathan Fillion, Jay Baruchel, Christopher Plummer, Phil Hartman, Elliott Page, Corey Haim, Tom Green, Cobie Smulders. Victor Garber and Mary Pickford.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice Elliot Paige missing from the list. Also, how did I forget about Tommy Chong, Nathan Fillion, Christopher Plummer, Jay Baruchel and Phil Hartman? Good job on you for coming up with this list.
@@andrewdonatelli6953 Yeah, that's actually kind of funny! And yes, I know Christopher Plummer was part of the older generation, but there is no denying he was one of the most prolific actors of his generation. So many movies that spanned decades. You're right, he absolutely would have been knighted.
This list left out all the great First Nation actors such as, Adam Beach-Wind Talkers, Graham Green & Tantoo Cardinal- Dances with Wolves, Tom Jackson Actor & singer - North of 60, Gordon Tootoosis- Legends of the Fall just to name a few .
Chief Dan George starred in Clint Eastwood's movie - The Outlaw Josey Wales and received an Academy Award Nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Little Big Man where he starred opposite Dustin Hoffman. Plus he was a real Chief. How cool.

Keifer Sutherland is Donald Sutherland's son. His mum was also an actress named Shirley Douglas. HIs grandfather (Shirley's dad) was Tommy Douglas, who was responsible for introducing publicly-funded healthcare to Canada.
@@JesusFriedChrist OUR Healthcare is BETTER Than, North Korea, Pakistan, even Than the States. Just getting a broken Arm fixed in the States will set You back, over $ 1,500. You DON'T You move into North Kore.
From my region of Canada a couple of old time actors who were missed are Raymond Burr who was a well known Canadian actor best known for playing the title role in the TV series Perry Mason, and Chief Dan George who was a 1971 Academy Award nominee for best supporting actor in Little Big Man.
How could they forget Christopher Plummer? And Donald Sutherland has had long career and was in several great movies in the 1970s: Klute, Don't Look Now etc. Paul Gross from Due South is Canadian. Fitting that he played a Mountie on the show. And if you go back to the silent film era, Mary Pickford was from Toronto. She was known as 'America's Sweetheart. She was also one of the founders of United Artists film studio.
The video also missed the likes of Graham Greene, one of a number of First Nations actors. You might remember him from the _Red Green Show_ as Edgar, the guy who was always blowing things up. He has had a long career with roles in such films as _Dances with Wolves, Maverick, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Grey Owl, The Green Mile, Twilight Saga: New Moon,_ and _Wind River._ Lauren Holly is an American-born actress who was married to Jim Carrey for one year and to a Canadian investment banker for 13. She took Canadian citizenship in 2008 and lives in Ontario. She was in the films _Dumb and Dumber, Sabrina,_ and _Turbelence,_ and in such TV series as _Picket Fences_ and _NCIS._ There are twin brothers Shawn Ashmore and Aaron Ashmore. Shawn was Iceman in four _X-men_ movies. Aaron was in the likes of _Smallville_ and the science fiction series _Killjoys._
@@loismackenzie-tk1dt Before his role in _The Outlaw Josey Wales,_ Chief Dan George was in _Little Big Man_ with Dustin Hoffman. For that role he was nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor.
I'm guessing the title famous means known in the USA. There are more great Canadian actors but are more likely known in Canada because of their great work here. And it is sad that the famous indigenous peoples that pursued an acting career are not listed. Rez Dogs has done well in the States and I can think of at least two Canadian indigenous actors in it.
Donald Sutherland is a Canadian icon. Kiefer is his son. His mother was Shirley Douglas, a Canadian actress. She was the daughter of Tommy Douglas ( former premier of Saskatchewan ). The man who was responsible for bringing Canada universal health care!
The universal healthcare!!! That we pay incredibly high taxes for to receive an incredibly poor service with horrific wait times to wait for the poor quality of service. Socialist healthcare has been a disaster, just as every single other socialist policies always end up being. Bringing up our healthcare is not a good thing. It’s something you should be ashamed of. It’s a fucking joke.
Scotty, "James Dohan" is also a decorated Canadian war hero wounded on D day, of all days. He is missing a finger as a result and has almost always managed to hide it in filming. Thank you for your service!!! I know this because I am a Canadian military history buff and my first name happens to be Scott so when ever anyone would say to me " BEAM ME UP "which now seems like a gazillion times lol. I would share with them this story. Oh and I don't know, because I have never seen the stupid movie.
William Shatner grew up in Montreal and is very vocal about being Canadian. I remember your reaction to the Molson Canadian commercials and that the "I AM CANADIAN" rant, was a favourite of yours. William Shatner performed his own "I AM CANADIAN" rant at the "Just For Laughs" Festival in Montreal. It's fantastic! I think you'd enjoy it!
And he never applied for duel US citizenship when it became available (up to a few decades ago you couldn’t apply for US citizenship without giving up your birth citizenship). A lot of Canadian performers did, but I always respected those that didn’t (eg. Shatner, John Candy, Donald Sutherland, Christopher Plummer, etc.) even though it would’ve been advantageous for tax reasons, especially.
Michael Cera and Wll Arnett were both brilliant in Arrested Development, one of the best tv Series ever made. ( The original run, not the attempted 10-years later reboot). If you haven't seen Schitts Creek, that's also brilliant..
Yesterday I saw a magazine about the Barbie movie at the store checkout. I saw the movie and I loved it, but this (American) magazine listed both Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu as "all American". They're both Canadian. This is constantly frustrating to us, like having a talented Scottish actor listed as "English".
@@rhusradicans2122 North America is a continent that has more than just Canada and the US in it. You've taken my example, and basically turned it into "I can call people from England French because they're all from Europe, so it's basically the same thing right?".
@@ashbradford Yeah but you’re forgetting a minor detail called war and conquest and history. English and Scots have a far more hostile history. The war of 1812 was a minor skirmish in comparison. Besides, Scots sound nothing like Brits. Listening to Simu Liu, most people will think he’s American from Southern California. Listen to a Scot… it’s very clear
Rae Dawn Chong is Cheech and Chongs Tommy Chongs daughter. Keifer is Donalds son and grew up in Nova Scotia. Scott Speedman should be on that list as should the unofficial King of Newfoundland himself Gordon Pinsent
Keifer didn't grow up in NS, He grew up in the east end of Toronto. Him and his twin sister Rachel lived with their mother Shirley Douglas. I went to school with Keifer and still friends with him. He went down to NS to film Bay boy when he was 15 then drove don to NY to live with his dad and got the part in The lost boys.
Pamela Anderson was born in Ladysmith, BC, here on Vancouver Island. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling were both born in London, Ontario. There are some actors/actresses omitted because they didn’t have quite the huge type of profile in the movie industry but were busy actors with impressive lists of credits nonetheless, ie. the late Christopher Plummer, the late Donnelly Rhodes, Nicholas Campbell, Ian Tracey, Anna Paquin, Joshua Jackson, Andrea Martin, Wendy Crewson etc. What many non-Canadians may not realise is how many Canadians work in the US film industry and entertainment business. There are thousands of Canadians working for a variety of US film and television production companies as well as freelancing.
@@kokanee2010a Thank you for the info. At least she took out citizenship and lives in TO part-time. Apparently she’s also good friends with Marilyn Denis. 😊👍🏻
Simu Liu was in a tv show Kim's Convenience. Rae Dawn is Tommy Chong's daughter. Kim Catrell was in the first Police Academy movie. Kiefer is Donald's son, (Kiefer's grandfather was Canadian politician Tommy Douglas "father of healthcare". Elisha Cuthbert was on Popular Mechanics for Kids with Jay Baruchel when they were like 12 years old. kim catrell was in the first porky's she was the young gym teacher at angel beach high school , elisha cuthbert was a friend of my niece when she lived in Calgary
Graham Greene, probably one of the more successful Indigenous Actors, he was nominated for an Academy Award for "Dances with Wolves". Paul Gross is tremendously talented as actor, director, producer... saw him this year in Stratford, Ontario stage production of King Lear, he was amazing.
I’m a hit confused as to why Graham Greene is not on the list? I think he has over 100 credits? He is on Canadas walk of fame, he has Gemini awards, at least one Grammy and was Oscar nominated for one of the biggest movies of its decade. I doubt there are many countries where he wouldn’t be recognized. Tantoo Cardinal also has a huge list of credits and is a member of the Order of Canada for her contribution to the performing arts.
They missed quite a few, like Christopher Plummer, Fay Wray, Mary Pickford, Ivan Reitman even The Rock is Canadian. If you are Canadian, you know Canadian actors and musicians you like. You look them up, and when they do Canadian interviews, they alway proudly proclaim their Canadian identity. Donald Sutherland spent much of time in England acting instead of going to Hollywood, and from England, he ended up acting in Hollywood. He has had an amazing career and is a legend.😊
Duane Johnson could not BE any more American. He did spend time up north, hes got an infamous photo when he was a "Sun boy", but he was born in California.
You might be be confusing Dwane with his Father "Rocky Johnson" from good old Nova Scotia. Professional wrestler in both Canada and the US. Went to school with his cousin.
I added Gordon in a comment to another reactor and someone replied that he was actually Irish (I think). I do believe he spent his latter days here though. Check out my Christopher Plummer comment.

LOVE Ryan Reynolds. You should look up the video for the song "Canada Loves You Back" that Steven Page wrote and sang when Ryan Reynolds was awarded the Governor General's Performing Arts Award.
I cried the first time I watched Canada loves you back....Ryan Reynolds, for many people will be remembered fondly for giving back to the country he loves.
Lorne Greene was Commander Adama in the original _Battlestar Galactica_ that first aired in 1978. He is probably more famous for being Ben Cartwright in the western series _Bonanza_ which ran for 14 seasons between Sep 1959 to Jan 1973 and had 431 episodes. Tricia Helfer was in the much superior remake of _Battlestar Galactica,_ playing the Cylon known as Number Six.
@@annoyed707 Of the twelve actors and actresses who appeared in more than 50 episodes of Battlestar Galactica, only 6 were not born in Canada and one of those, Grace Park, grew up in Vancouver from the age of 22 months old and is a Canadian citizen.
Surprised they missed Christopher Plummer and Eliot Page. There were some of the younger female actors who I didn’t know at all. I think they were in shows I haven’t seen.
Who is Elliot Page. Never heard of this dude. Can you name some of the movies he was in. Was he in Saving private Ryan, Or Shawshank redemption, or some other movie like that???
Margot Kidder was in Amityville Horror. Lorne Green was also in Bonanza. Allan Thicke was also in Growing Pains and is Robin Thicke's dad. Catherine O'hara is also in Schitt's Creek.
Three additional names to point out that I was surprised were not on this list: 1. As many people have point out in the comments, there is a number of Indigenous actors that did not make the list, and one name I would add among them is Chief Dan George. He was in many older Westerns, like "The Outlaw Josey Wales" and "Little Big Man" He was also a real Chief. 2. Eliiot Page (formerly known as Ellen Paige prior to his transition). He hasn't done any acting as far as I know as Elliot, but as Ellen he was in "Inception" and "Juno" among many other roles. 3. Tatiana Maslany. She was on "Orphan Black" and "Heartland", but most recently starred as "She-Hulk". P.S. I absolutely love and respect Ryan Reynolds.
Hahah I love your reaction Mert. All Canadians know this, but it’s so wonderful to be reminded. I’m so proud of our Canadian talent. We are well represented south of the boarder, just not well acknowledged.
James Doohan not only stormed the beaches of Normandy, but then went on to star in one of the most successful sci-fi series in television history, which was funded and pushed forward by none other than Lucile Ball.
Great clip...thankyou for sharing. The hit the mark pretty good this time...but missed the ICONIC Christopher Plummer...the dad in The Sound Of Music. Cpt. von Trapp!!❤❤❤
So many I didn’t know that were Canadian! Then again I haven’t had cable vision or watched TV in about 20 years. ALSO SO NICE not to have the list numbered. They are all truly amazing! Ha they are Canadian after all!! 🤣🇨🇦🤣
Donald Sutherland is Keifer's father. Tommy Chong is Rae Dawn Chongs Father. Yeah, we as Canadians know pretty much who our artists are. Donald Sutherland = Legend. Leslie Neilson=Legend. Pam Anderson is from British Columbia. I don't see Shannon Tweed = Gene Simmons (KISS) wife, B list actress. Playboy Model from Newfoundland. Cap't Kirk = William Shatner. If we didn't know about him he would let us know! Hey , he's 92 and looks ageless.
Going back to the 1960’s…..Raymond Burr in “Perry Mason”, followed by his series “Ironside” in the 70’s. I expect I’m one of the few who remember him, but at the time he was one of a very few Canadians on tv.
That list is missing some renowned Canadian actors such as Christopher Plummer (Sound of Music), Raymond Burr (Perry Mason -- Series and Movie), Graham Greene (Dances with Wolves), Chief Dan George, and many more.
I would HIGHLY recommend you watch Schitt’s Creek!!! Eugene Levy and his son Dan (an absolute gem!) and his daughter is in it too! and Catharine O’Hara … need I say more! It is fantastic! I cried when the series ended.
I’m Canadian and proud of all of these folks… even the annoying ones like Seth Rogen and Will Arnett, lol! There were only 2 younger female actors that I didn’t recognize. Also yes, the Sutherland’s are father/son. Was hoping for a bigger reaction to both John Candy and Lorne Greene but I guess the host just doesn’t know them like I did. There are so many more that didn’t make the list, SCTV’ers Joe Flaherty and Dave Thomas immediately come to mind. Fun list and video!
one notable actor they left off this list is the great Christopher Plummer 🇨🇦 . Crazy since he was one of the most remarkable actors of his time . Love your videos keep up the good work.
That's a pretty good list but there are a ton of people omitted. Very surprised the list missed someone who is arguable the most awarded Canadian actor: Mr. Christopher Plummer (the only Canadian winner of the Triple Crown of Acting) But, going way back to even the non-talking movies, there have been many famous actors and actresses. Whether Americans knew these people were Canadian, probably not. Here's a small list: Mary Pickford (known as "America's Sweetheart" during the silent picture era) Norma Shearer (The Divorcee) Yvonne DeCarlo (The 10 Commandments) Raymond Massey (Arsnic and Old Lace) Barbara Parkins (Valley of the Dolls) Walter Pidgeon (Mrs Miniver) Glenn Ford (Gilda) John Ireland (All the King's Men) Girdon Pinset (The Shipping News) Raymond Burr (Perry Mason) Michael Sarrazin (They Shoot Horses Don't They?) Anna Paquin (The Piano) Arthur Hill (The Andromeda Strain) Victor Garber (Argo) John Vernon (Dirty Harry) John Colicos (The Changling) Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) Sarah Polley (My Life Without Me) Tommy Chong (Up in Smoke, Cheech & Chong) And so many, many more ...
Almost any list will have to omit many Canadians. Marie Dressler, John Qualen, Mack Sennet, Hume Cronyn, and Deanna Durbin to name just a few. Let's not forget Florence Lawrence, the first movie star. Canadians were instrumental in the creation of the Hollywood film industry.
Art Linkletter, Jennifer Tilly, Rich Little, Glen Ford (Father to Superman in Original Superman films), Conrad Bain (Father Different Strokes), Yvonne-De-Carlo (Mother Munsters Series), Marc Singer (V 1983 Mini-Series) ,Shannon Tweed (wife to Gene Simmons)
They missed Mary Pickford, Raymond Burr, Tommy Chong, Neve Campbell, Phil Hartman, Tom Green, Graham Greene, Anna Paquin, Elliot Page, Christopher Plumber and a bunch more..
I must say I am quite proud of our amazing actors/actresses. We have some amazingly great talents from our country. Thanks to every actor who still gushes about our beautiful country and sharing their roots with the world. And sharing thier pride for Canada still. Kristen Kreuk (Smallville) most recently played a lawyer on a Canadian TV show filmed in Manitoba (Burden of Truth). We really enjoyed this show. Ray Dawn Chong is Tommy Chong's (Cheech and Chong) daughter. Yes, Elisha Cuthbert was in '24' . She played Canadian Kiefer Sutherland's daughter. Jason Priestly was recently in a show filmed in Toronto (Private Eyes). It just ended after 5 seasons. Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding movies) is Canadian. The 3rd MBFGW) is about to be released. Catherine O'Hare and Eugene Levy (and his 2 children) were both on the TV series Shitt's Creek. A great show!!
If nobody else has mentioned it, Rae Dawn Chong is the daughter of Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong fame. Her first big role was 'Quest for Fire" and she was also in "The Color Purple".
Yes Donald Sutherland is Keifer Sutherland's dad. If Elisha Cuthbert played his daughter in 24, then yes, both leading roles were played by Canadians. Also, Carrie Anne Moss and Keanu Reeves are Canadian which means both the leading actor in the Matrix are Canadian. Actors and comedians are one of Canada's major exports
Bless your soul for your lovely comments about the character of our Canadian actors/performers. Love listening to your commentary...my Mom was born in Belfast ❤
Leslie Neilsen was a comedic genius who loved anything to do with farts. His tombstone even has "Let er Rip " on it. His brother was a 30 year member of parliament and the Deputy Prime Minister from 1984 to 1986). Two brothers, drastically different career paths.
As mentioned below, this is probably half the list. The amount of American shows filmed in Toronto and Vancouver over the years provide dozens, at least, of Canadian actors who have been on US TV. Brent Butt, had a couple of movies, was a coroner on the X-Files, Gabrielle Miller was arrested as the prime suspect in a murder on NCIS, to name one. Not sure who compiled the list, but there are giants in this industry missing, household names. Graham Greene, Tom Jackson and Christopher Plummer not being included is a tremendous oversight.
Bruce Greenwood has appeared in many films and TV series. He portrayed president John F. Kennedy in Thirteen Days. He played Captain Christopher Pike in J. J. Abrams's Star Trek reboot series. He even was the main character in Nowhere Man, a one season TV program. You'd probably recognize Lorne Cardinal if you looked up his photo. He's been in so many things. You might have seen Tantoo Cardinal in Dances With Wolves and Legends of the Fall among other productions.

I’d say Ryan Reynolds is beloved in Canada because his flaunts the fact he was born here. Missing from the list is Katheryn Winnick. She played Lagertha in the early seasons of The Vikings. She speaks multiple languages (including Ukrainian) and has black belts in Taekwondo and Karate.
Pamela Anderson is famous for being Canadian. When she was a teenager, she was on the screen at a Canadian football game because she was so cute. A talent scout was at the game and tracked her down. She made 2 posters for a Canadian beer. From there, she got a bit part on a sitcom, then to Playboy, then to superstardom with Baywatch. There are a few Native actors who aren't on this list.
Raymond Burr, Phil Hartman, Victor Garber, Nathan Fillion, Corey Haim, Gil Bellows, Dave Thomas, Conrad Bain,. On the show 24, there were MANY Canadians in the cast as well as the main director
Elisha Cuthbert started in Popular Mechanics For Kids. That's how a lot of Canadians who lived through the 90s has known her from. Howie Mandel created and voiced acted Bobby's World.
Gosling and Reynolds!! We've got the Ryan's...lol. Love your reactions to some of the people that you didn't realize were Canadian. I've heard so many things about how sweet and kind Keanu Reeves is. Love him!! This is a great list with a lot of talented actors/actresses.
He was "Pa" his 3 boys, including Little Joe (Michael Landon) who went on to be "Pa" on Little House on the Prairie! Nothing to do with being Canadian, I just always thought that was funny.
They are Canadian and you’ll find them and other Canadian celebrities (such as Keanu Reeves, Michael J Fox, Rachel McAdams, John Candy etc..) are known to be the most friendly and humble celebrities known.
Leo B Mayer, Mary Pickford, Walter Huston, Walter Pigeon, and Raymond Massey are missed and I'm sure I missed a lot. If you watch a lot of British TV from the sixties and seventies you will notice they tended to use Canadian actors when they needed to portray an American.
Yup, Pamela Anderson just lives down the road a bit from me in Ladysmith. She is currently renovating her home that she inherited from her grandparents on the waterfront here. She is a sweetheart and has already contributed her (and her ex-husband's) time to local animal shelters in the neighbourhood. P.S. Schitt's Creek is something you should definitely put on your Must-Watch List! There is a reason it swept all the awards, even in the USA...

Rick Moranis did not retire, he stepped away when his wife was ill, as his children were still fairly young, he was doing some voice over work. Leslie Nielsen's brother was a MP. Rae Dawn Chong is Tommy Chong's daughter Tommy is of course from Cheech and Chong, James Doohan was also a Canadian WW2 vet. I could go on I love our Canadian celebs. So John Candy Eugen Levy, Martin Short, Rick Moranis, and Catherine O'Hara were all members of SCTV, one of the biggest name in TV entertainment is Lorne Michaels, who produces SNL and Kids in the Hall. And film would have to be James Cameron, Titanic and Avatar.
Lots of great names missed, as said by others in the comments, but my personal favourite is someone who's not super well known. She kind of flies under the radar as a TV actress. Missy Peregrym. I first learned of her in 2010 when she starred in Rookie Blue (although it turns out I had seen her in a few shows before that (1 ep of Tru Calling, 6 eps of Heroes, and main role in Reaper). And since 2018 she's had a main role on FBI (and guest spots on the spin offs). I adore her! Another one of those Canadian actors whose personality just embodies the stereotype. She's just so kind and sweet. She deserves way more attention/recognition than she gets.
Per capita, Canada has a very high rate of successful artists. When a lot of the worries about the environment that you live in are taken away, it leaves a lot of room to explore your creative side.
The list missed out two of Canada's greatest actors, Gordon Pinsent and Christopher Plummer. I believe Rick Moranis was overlooked, too. Maury Chaykin, Grahme Greene, Gil Bellows, Phil Hartmann, Jay Baruchel, Yannick Bisson. From old Hollywood there is Walter Pidgeon, Glenn Ford, Raymond Burr, Yvonne De Carlo, Marie Dressler, Deanna Durbin, Walter Huston, June Havoc, Ruby Keeler, Florence Lawrence (first movie star), Mary Pickford ("America's Sweetheart"), Norma Shearer. Louis B. Mayer was Canadian. As was Mack Sennett ("The King of Comedy").
*A funny story about Keanu Reeves. That is his acting name - not his given name at birth. He has said that when selecting his name, he considered the name "Chuck Spadina" (Chuck from Chuck Norris and Spadina is a major street name in Toronto). Ultimately he decided on Keanu Reeves, because of the original movie Superman, Christopher Reeves.*
Father/son duo Eugene Levy and Daniel Levy not only star as father/son Johnny and David Rose on Schitt's Creek ,they also are the creators/writers. Ryan Gosling started acting very young. He was on the Mickey Mouse club series with Brittney Spears and Justin Timberlake and others, a series called Breaker High(high school on a cruise ship) and the prequel, Young Hercules series by the producers of Xena W.P. and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys at 17 years-old.

Jack Warner, who formed Warner Bros. with one of his brothers, Sam, was born in London, Ontario. They produced the first feature length talkie movie - The Jazz Singer. So the familiarity with Hollywood goes wayyyy back. The Jim Carrey major vehicle "The Mask" 1994 required special new software to pull off those crazy animations. The only place to get what they needed was either the system from Alias or the competitor system from Softimage, both Canadian. They chose Alias... >>> The Abyss, Terminator 2, etc. They also knew they didn't have anyone in Hollywood who could operate the software so they found the college in Canada that had a course on it and hired their top graduate - Steve "Spaz" Williams. The experts behind the scenes and in the executive offices (Ivan Reitman, died 2022) are at least as important to the Hollywood machine.

Pretty good list. Some notable missing names are Tommy Chong, Nathan Fillion, Jay Baruchel, Christopher Plummer, Phil Hartman, Elliott Page, Corey Haim, Tom Green, Cobie Smulders. Victor Garber and Mary Pickford.
Very deserving additions
I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice Elliot Paige missing from the list. Also, how did I forget about Tommy Chong, Nathan Fillion, Christopher Plummer, Jay Baruchel and Phil Hartman?
Good job on you for coming up with this list.
Also Anna Silk (Lost Girl)
@@lazylankThey had Rae Daen Chong but not Tommy Chong. Crazy! Christopher Plummer would have been knighted if he had been British.
How cool.

From my region of Canada a couple of old time actors who were missed are Raymond Burr who was a well known Canadian actor best known for playing the title role in the TV series Perry Mason, and Chief Dan George who was a 1971 Academy Award nominee for best supporting actor in Little Big Man.
Raymond Burr was also Ironside.
I’ve always found it funny that AGT is hosted by a Canadian, a German, a Colombian And a Brit.
MARY PICFORD WAS ALLSO INVOLVED IN THE CREATION OF THE OSCERS
Sarah Polley is another big one that was missed. And Sarah Chalke as well, though less known.
A glaring omission
Maybe they just wanted to use current or living actors?

The video also missed the likes of Graham Greene, one of a number of First Nations actors. You might remember him from the _Red Green Show_ as Edgar, the guy who was always blowing things up.
He has had a long career with roles in such films as _Dances with Wolves, Maverick, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Grey Owl, The Green Mile, Twilight Saga: New Moon,_ and _Wind River._
Lauren Holly is an American-born actress who was married to Jim Carrey for one year and to a Canadian investment banker for 13. She took Canadian citizenship in 2008 and lives in Ontario. She was in the films _Dumb and Dumber, Sabrina,_ and _Turbelence,_ and in such TV series as _Picket Fences_ and _NCIS._
There are twin brothers Shawn Ashmore and Aaron Ashmore. Shawn was Iceman in four _X-men_ movies. Aaron was in the likes of _Smallville_ and the science fiction series _Killjoys._

Yes!!!!
Without a doubt! WATCH THIS SHOW!
I’ve binged this show probably 4 or 5 times now… it truly never gets old!!! Love it so damn much! Daaavidd!!!
Donald was on the original Mash movie. Excellent actor
My favourite role of his was Oddball in Kelly's heros. The range of characters that man has played (and played well) is amazing
Love ❤️
What I like is he never became an American-Canadian .. many do for convenience
He is so funny!
William Shatner was a well known Shakespearean actor.....long before Star Trek.
He was Christopher Plummers understudy at the Stratford Festival.@@melodybaker458
At least Scotland and England are both in the UK. Calling Canadian actors American is way worse.

Pamela Anderson was born in Ladysmith, BC, here on Vancouver Island. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling were both born in London, Ontario. Graham Green was a legend here before Hollywood stole him!.. jk. He still does Canadian TV, and we love to claim him as pure Canadian 😉🍻

Donald Sutherland spent much of time in England acting instead of going to Hollywood, and from England, he ended up acting in Hollywood. He has had an amazing career and is a legend.😊

Eugene Levy and his son Dan played two of the lead roles in Schitts Creek. In the show, Eugene's character is the father of Dan's character

He was "Pa" his 3 boys, including Little Joe (Michael Landon) who went on to be "Pa" on Little House on the Prairie! Nothing to do with being Canadian, I just always thought that was funny.
Lorne Greene was also a CBC news broadcaster during WWll. He certainly had the voice for it.

Stephen Amell (arrow)
Alexander Ludwig (Vikings)
Pablo Schreiber
And more.
And for us older folks, Raymond Massey, Walter Huston, Gene Lockhart and Fay Wray (born in Canada, brought up in L.A.)
Tantoo Cardinal, Colleen Dewherst, Graham Greene, Meagan Follows and Adam Beach should be on the list.
You should do a list of TV shows and movies made in Canada. You'd be blown away.
Christopher Plummer, Paul Gross, Kevin Durand, Kim Coates...there are many more!
They are missing Nathan fillion and Christopher plummer. Probably more but those 2 are coming to mind.
The list missed out two of Canada's greatest actors, Gordon Pinsent and Christopher Plummer. I believe Rick Moranis was overlooked, too. Maury Chaykin, Grahme Greene, Gil Bellows, Phil Hartmann, Jay Baruchel, Yannick Bisson. From old Hollywood there is Walter Pidgeon, Glenn Ford, Raymond Burr, Yvonne De Carlo, Marie Dressler, Deanna Durbin, Walter Huston, June Havoc, Ruby Keeler, Florence Lawrence (first movie star), Mary Pickford ("America's Sweetheart"), Norma Shearer. Louis B. Mayer was Canadian. As was Mack Sennett ("The King of Comedy").
I didn't know Rae Dawn Chong was Canadian - but you must have seen her if you watched Arnold's movie Commando as she was the co-star
Daughter of Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong and That 70s Show fame, who should have been on this list as well.
They missed Christopher Plummer. His last movie was the first Knives Out. He was a great stage and screen actor.
Pam Anderson is from British Columbia. She was discovered on the Jumbo-tron at a BC Lions(Canadian Football League) game.
"jumbo" tron indeed.
Dan Aykroyd and John Candy are my favourites on this list.
Margot Kidder was the original movie version of Lois Lane yes.. her first appearance was in the Christopher Reeve's Superman: The Movie. RIP Margot
Rae Dawn Chong is the daughter of Tommy Chong, from the comedy duo Cheech and Chong.
Howie Mandel had hair until he got cancer. Originally a comedian, moved into tv.
Matthew Perry - was from Ottawa.. went to school with our current prime minister.. he also beat the hell out of him lol.... heres an interview where he discusses it - ruclips.net/video/vWZsF3bUNhs/видео.html
Lorne Greene was the original Adamas in Battlestar Galactica in the 1970s/80s. The one you know is a reboot. He was also on the western show Bonanza in the 60s with Michael Landon.
Alan Thicke (Growing Pains, In the Thicke of the Night - his talk show)
Missed actors: Phil Hartman (SNL/The Simpsons), Estella Warren (Kangaroo Jack), Corey Haim (Goonies), Elliot Page (formerly Ellen Page), Stephen Amell (Green Arrow), Sarah Chalke (Roseanne, Scrubs), Meghan Follows (Anne of Green Gables)
I am feeling proud of our rich talent bank of Canadians! 🍁🇨🇦
Really? Where are you from? Canadians? None left.
Great show thanks loved it.
Would love to see you do a reaction to the song made for Ryan Reynolds for his order of Canada award. Performed by Steven Page (originally from the barenaked ladies). It's great and VERY canadian! 😂
Yes. The Barenaked Ladies performed on an episode of Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place way back when. They've been good friends for a long time.
Schitts Creek is such a great show (with amazing Canadian actors). You should definitely react to that 😊
Yes, most older Canadians know Pam Anderson is Canadian....once you get to millennials or younger they might not know. I'm a Gen X so she was obviously my young man fascination. glad to see many SCTV actors move on to bigger and better things. There were a bunch of names I didn't know so couldn't tell you if they were Canadian or not. The name I did know I think maybe one or two I didn't realize was Canadian.
