I’ve watched this 3 times and plan to watch it a few more times. I love the ideas and I’m making even more plans this season. I’ve done a lot of infrastructure since we moved to this one acre patch and now I get to add pretty stuff and I’ve had some experience so I know what seems to work where. I’ve added 4 apple trees, 3 blueberry bushes as a “orchard row” and I keep adding roses and other flowers to my herbs and vegetables and developing “my space” near the greenhouse. I’m going to do a “wall” for privacy and add more interest around the yard!
Love your channel and was surprised how many elements of a Potager garden our' backyard' has. No geometric beds or grass, but basically it has the other elements and flagstone paths.
Mine is right outside my greenhouse which isn't too far from the house and I am out there almost every day. I set it up years ago before I knew much about it, but it has worked wonderfully. I have mostly put herbs and flowers in it because of nematodes that were attacking my vegetables, now they grow in a different location but, the rest is thriving there. I am loving your videos!
I can’t have a potager garden but I can incorporate a few details here and there to enhance my tiny spaces. Found a space I can put a tiny place for a climbing rose that will be something I see out my back door. Also a hinderance is our zone (6). Not much grows when it’s below freezing for months. But this winter the high temp have been higher. (40-50) Only about 3 times really cold day n night for week or more. So might experiment. To see if I can grow ANYTHING in winter. But can I handle the stress of trying to protect plants when it’s that cold. I don’t like getting outside when it’s that cold.
I’m utilizing an unused strip of land that really belong to a pipeline company beside me. Have pines in between most of it to hide their stuff. They used to mow it but it’s changed hands now they have just let it naturalize (nice way of saying weeds n don’t mow. I’ve covered with tarps to kills weeds. N will utilize it. It’s about 28x10. But on a slope ( it’s WV LOL). Plan on using for herbs. But it’s right beside my driveway n carport so can’t see most of it unless when I drive in. No space. I’ll use what I can. Miss my country hime with 3 acres but it became too much to mow n keep up as I got older. Getting snowed in cause didn’t have a plow for driveway etc etc. we used to get feet’s if snow now only inches mist times. Mostly ice.
What is a good rose (preferably peach or tangerine colored) to grow over my cattle panel entrance? And, do I need to plant one on either side for it to grow over it? I’m reestablishing my garden because we had moles or voles so bad last year that we redid all my raised beds 12 4x8 with metal hardware cloth in the bottom. It has given me a chance to start over but it also made me HAVE to start all over in what was an established garden if that makes any sense. This series is helping!
Hey! Look up Crepescule rose. It’s a beautiful climbing rose. Petals From The Past carries it ! Yes you will need to put one on each side of the cattle panel. A blank canvas is fun! But I know what your saying starting over is challenging 🫶
@@justdigitfarms thank you. I will definitely look those up. Petals is about 11/2 hrs away from me but I hope to be back there for the spring event. I’ll be buying stuff then for sure but will check our local nursery in the meantime to see if they carry them. Have a beautiful week.
